Investigation

[Last night was the most horrendous Halloween of all time!] the male reporter on the television announced.

[Certainly, it will go down in history,] said the female reporter sitting beside the male reporter.

[What are your thoughts on it?] the first reporter asked.

[I think it was an inhumane act done by the killer.]

[Well, we are talking about that secret killer who killed the previous president. We have surely underestimated him. I think it's about time the officials take the matter into their hands. Or we might all be in danger.]

[What makes you think that?] the female reporter asked.

[It's dangerous for all of us.] The male reporter showed the footage of Layla and Leon entering the shop and killing everyone.

[Look at this. That secret killer has gotten a friend with him,] stated the male reporter.

"He is my brother, not friend," Layla muttered while mopping the floor.

Leon had already left in the morning to find out more about Mr.L, but he had to stop at the university for some reason.

[But it's not given that it's the same killer who killed the previous president, right?] the female reporter asked the male reporter.

[What do you mean? Look at the mask. It's the same!]

[You can't judge someone by their mask. What if it's someone else impersonating the secret killer?]

[It's the same thing,] the male reporter answered. [If someone is impersonating him, then that means the secret killer is their idol. They are impersonating him because they want to become like him. Who is to blame here? The secret killer, of course.]

"If he talks more, he might become Leon's next target," Layla scoffed.

[And that's not all!] the male reported raised his voice and asserted, [They also killed an old couple living a few streets away from the incident]

Layla frowned her face and said, "We didn't kill any old couple."

Layla turned off the television and went to the bathroom to take a bath.

Meanwhile, Leon was beating Anna in the parking lot of the university.

"Are you satisfied?" Leon asked impatiently.

"No." Anna shook her head and pointed her finger at her stomach before saying, "Punch me here and then kick as hard as possible."

Leon shook his head in disbelief and sighed, 'What's wrong with this girl?'

When Leon came to the university in the morning, he met Anna, and she informed him about Mr.L, who has been coming daily to ask for Leon.

Mr.L also gave Anna his contact information and told her to contact him when she met Leon. However, Anna didn't. 

After three classes, Anna approached Leon and took him to the parking lot.

Leon asked for Anna's car keys because he wanted to visit the police department to meet Mr.L. He wanted to meet Mr.L and confirm if he was truly Liam or not.

However, when Leon asked Anna for her car keys, Anna asked Leon to beat her.

Leon punched Anna on the stomach and kicked her, but he didn't use his full strength. If he did, his leg would have come out of the other side.

Anna stood up and walked to Leon with the car keys in her hand.

"Here," she said while coughing blood.

Leon grabbed the car keys from Anna's hand and said, "You need some mental treatment."

For Leon, normal people were abnormal, and abnormal people were normal. But Anna, however, was abnormally abnormal.

After driving to the police department where Liam worked, Leon parked the car in the nearby parking center, where he was questioned by the officers standing there.

Leon, obviously, ignored them and made his way to the gate of the building, where he had to take out his belongings and get his body checked by the guard.

Leon didn't have anything with him except Anna's car keys. He left his phone and bag with Anna and asked her to take care of them.

He didn't want to take any risk by bringing his phone to the police department. It was just like taking a loaf of meat in a Lion's cave.

Leon successfully entered the building and made his way in to search for Mr. L's office. But much to his surprise, he didn't have his own office but a desk.

'Isn't he a world-famous detective? Then why didn't they give him his own office?' Leon wondered.

Unfortunately, Mr.L was interrogating a suspect for the recent murder of one of the officers. And that officer was none other than Eren.

"How many times do I have to tell you that I am as clueless as you are?!" A female voice yelled from the room.

'That voice…' Leon stood up and walked to the room. 

In that room, there was another door that led to another room. Outside the room was a glass window to see through. The inside was visible from the outside, but the outside was not visible from the inside; it looked like a mirror from the inside.

The girl Mr.L was interrogating was none other than Ida.

"There is no need to yell, miss," Mr.L uttered.

"I am not yelling! I am speaking normally!" Ida asserted.

Leon left the room and went back to Mr. L's desk to find some clues.

However, he needed to be careful of the other officers in the department.

Leon slowly opened the drawer, but it was empty. Then, he tried to open the second drawer, but it was locked.

'Come on~,

He tried to open the third drawer, but it was locked too.

Leon took a deep breath and forced open the locked drawers without making any noise.

He looked through the drawer and found many of Mr. L's belongings, but there was no clue that Mr.L was Liam.

Leon fixed the drawer lock from the inside and made it look like they were never locked.

However, when he was about to close the drawer, his gaze fell on an old broken phone.

The phone's screen was cracked, and the back was shattered into many pieces. The side top left area smashed, and the entire phone was burnt.

The phone's condition looked like it had been in an explosion.

Leon grabbed the phone and immediately put it back.

He closed the drawers and rubbed his hands on his face with mixed feelings.2

'That was my mother's phone!'

Leon pulled his hair and muttered, "But that doesn't prove he is Liam."

After a brief pause, Leon scoffed wryly and said, "There is no point denying it. Mr.L is undoubtedly Liam."
