18 The Unexpected One

I was moved to another room by the maid. My body was tied to a high-backed chair, and my face was covered with a black cloth. All I could see was the floor under the black cloth.0

"Where is the woman I want?" His hoarse voice carried a trace of terror, as if he had been strangled by someone.

My body tightened instantly. The sound reminded me of fear. It's impossible, it's impossible. I have left that place. I can't meet them again.

My body began to tremble uncontrollably, my bound hands writhing unwittingly, the twine scraping bright red marks on my wrists.

In my trembling, the speaker approached me step by step, and I could only see the shape of his shoes through the gaps in the black cloth.

"Here she is, look at her," said the Lord in a slightly obsequious voice.

The black cloth covering my face was removed.

Nick's face caught me by surprise!

"AH, Delia, my dear cousin, are you happy to see me?" He seemed content with my shocked look. His eyes savoured every trace of fear in my face, and the muscles around his mouth were lifted to reveal a set of teeth.

I instantly understood the trap, the coma and the mysterious guests. There is a reasonable explanation for what I don't understand. I can't believe it. I thought I had escaped my home all the way. This is only my own illusion. The shadow has been on my back.

"It was you. You did all this," I said weakly.

"Ha-ha-ha-" Nick was interrupted by a high-pitched female voice. Nick's face slowly moved away from me, and a graceful figure in a gold suit appeared in my line of sight.

"Not just him, but me, too, Delia."

Bernice's blonde hair was held high above her head. Her eyes were still haughty, and she looked at me with a hateful, fierce look that was no longer disguised as before. She was still wearing that gold fishtail dress she wore that day, and it seemed like she was really upset about how Kral had rejected her that day.

I was dragged back to those painful, helpless memories again. I finally got rid of them. Why won't they leave me alone?

"Let you go?" I found that I actually put my mind out. The hate in Bernice's eyes seemed to gouge the flesh out of me.

She ran her finger across my face. Her long nails stung slightly. "I wanted to let you go too, but why did you show up that day! ? Why did you wear that crown! ? Why! ?"

Bernice's eyes grew frantic, her voice shrill, her strength growing out of control, and I bit my lip to endure the sharpening movement in my face.

"Pa!" Nick suddenly stepped forward and grabbed Bernice's hand. His eyes darkened. "I bought her. Our partnership is over. You'd better watch your hands. Don't touch my things."

Bernice broke Nick's fingers from her wrists one by one, and she turned to look at me. Her strong malice made me shudder. "Then what are you waiting for? Why don't you take your things right away?"

"Wait, guests, we have a deal." The leader smiled and touched his beard. He pointed at me. "Look, I brought this woman here, so what I want..."

The butler behind him came up and untied the ropes in my hand.

"Well, greedy, of course we'll honor the deal. I'll leave it outside the door and you'll see for yourself." Nick cocked his head at him.

The housekeeper went at once to open the door, and when he returned he stood at the door and nodded to his master.

He rubbed his hands together. "Then our business is finished. Please help yourself."

Before he left the room, Bernice suddenly said, "Stop and leave the glass bottle I gave you."

Bottle? I watched as the leader handed Bernice a small bottle from his arms and turned to leave.

There were only three people left in the room, and I was sitting in my chair with the ropes untied as Nick approached me. I knew I didn't stand a chance, but I knew I couldn't let Nick take me. I looked at the open door. As long as I can get out, I have a chance.

"Bernice, you don't need to be here, do you?" Nick suddenly turned to Bernice, who was watching the show with raised eyebrows.

I instantly remember what Nick did to me when he dragged me into the woods. The sickening movements and panic overwhelmed me, and I tried to calm my shaking hands.

"Oh, of course. Treat my dear sister well. She deserves to be treated a little harshly." Bernice lifted her skirt and left the room as if she were performing a curtain call on the stage. As she was about to close the door, she made a point.

"Hello, Delia, Nice to see you again," Nick said, tearing down his gentlemanly persona. He had a crazy smile on his face and his head tilted. I saw a scar on his exposed neck that had been cut with a needle.

Perhaps he sensed my gaze and crouched down in front of me. As I watched, he slowly reached out to touch the wound I had left.

"Look, these marks are all from you. Every time I touch this place, I think of you." He touches my neck, his eyes showing a vicious light. His fingers ran over my bare skin like a businessman checking out his wares.

"You know, I really liked you, and I gave your alpha father a lot of money, even though you were a loser who couldn't shift into a wolf," he said, sniffling, the warm breath made me tremble with fear. I saw anger in his eyes. "But you rejected me twice! Twice! Does His Highness know that you are good-for-nothing? ! Huh? !"

My body went numb under his hoarse questioning. He held my throat down. My fingers kept scratching his hand around my neck, but I could only leave a scratch on his skin.

The air is thin and the view blurry, and Nick is like a wild animal about to lose his mind, admiring the struggle of his prey. He watched me with satisfaction as my breathing quickened and my tears welled up physiologically and dripped on the floor.

Help! Can somebody help me?

"Bang!" The door opened. In my blurred vision, I saw a familiar figure.
