115 One of You Must Die

Delia’s POV

My mother's life, from her dating days with my father to her death, flashed through my mind in a whirlwind of emotions. It felt like I was reading the book of her life.

As this book reached its final pages, I couldn't control my emotions any longer and began to cry uncontrollably. My tears continued to fall onto the Guardian Spirit.

Now, her form had become almost completely transparent. If I extended my paw, I could even pass through her body.

She seemed to have exerted all her strength to show me my mother's life story.

"Guardian Spirit, you're a part of my mother, aren't you?"

I didn't want my tears to drown out the Guardian Spirit and make her disappear completely. I wiped away my tears with my paw and looked at the Guardian Spirit, asking, "My mother sent you to protect me, is that true?"

"My Pearl, you guessed correctly. I am the blood from your mother's body." Though the Guardian Spirit had become nearly invisible, she still raised a hand and gently touched my cheek. "Don't be afraid. If you're truly in great pain and unable to make a choice, your mother will protect you one last time."

My mother had passed away so many years ago, and her heart was preserved by my father. How could she protect me now?

"What do you mean?" I asked in confusion.

But at that moment, the Guardian Spirit had become entirely transparent, almost merging with the air.

With her last ounce of strength, she pointed to the pearl necklace around my neck, and then she disappeared completely.

"Guardian Spirit? Guardian Spirit!"

I called out to the Guardian Spirit several times but received no response.

Tears welled up in my eyes once again, and I cried for a while before I remembered the pearl the Guardian Spirit had pointed to before disappearing.

I lowered my head and looked at the pearl necklace hanging around my neck.

To my astonishment, the originally white, perfectly round pearls had now turned blood-red, and their shape resembled a droplet of blood.

Remembering what the Guardian Spirit had said, I asked in a hushed voice, "Guardian Spirit? Is it you?"

The droplet of blood didn't answer my question.

It suddenly broke free from the necklace, slowly floating in the air, hovering not far from me.

Seeing the blood droplet suddenly hovering in the air, I opened my mouth in surprise.

At that moment, the blood droplet swiftly shot into my mouth with a "whoosh," entering at the fastest speed. Upon contact with my moist mouth, it rapidly dissolved inside.

I sensed a faint, fleeting taste of blood spreading in my mouth, but it quickly disappeared. This drop of blood had now merged with my body.

As the Guardian Spirit vanished, the lake before my eyes also slowly disappeared. I understood that this was an illusion created by the Guardian Spirit, and with her departure, I would never be able to return here.

That warm and secure feeling might never be experienced again.

"Delia? Delia!"

Just as I felt overwhelmed with sadness, suddenly, someone called my name, and the voice sounded very familiar. It was Prince Kral calling for me!

The moment I thought of Prince Kral, I abruptly opened my eyes, and at that instant, I realized I had returned to reality.

My gaze fell directly on Prince Kral, who was drawing his bow!

Unbeknownst to me, he had drawn the bowstring to its full extent.

What was he planning to do? Shoot an arrow through my pearl necklace in front of my chest?

The realization that Prince Kral might actually be trying to kill me to save himself sent a chill through my heart.

However, I soon sensed that something was amiss. Prince Kral was looking at me with profound affection in his eyes. His hand gripping the bowstring was tense, and I could see the veins in his arm bulging.

Moreover, he was rubbing his palm on the bowstring so vigorously that it began to bleed. He was trying so hard to control his anger.

Understanding that Prince Kral's act of aiming the bow and arrow at me was merely a show, and he was struggling to suppress his anger, I felt my eyes moisten.

"Delia, do you really think Kral would sacrifice himself for you?" Albert noticed Prince Kral's actions but didn't delve into the deeper meaning behind them. Instead, he continued to taunt me.

"It seems my words had no effect on you. You'll only understand when you've experienced it firsthand and paid a painful price. You'll know what I said is true!"

While Albert was busy criticizing me, I communicated with Prince Kral through mind-linking.

I gently shook my head and sent a few silent words to Prince Kral.

Albert noticed and sneered, "Delia, are you begging Kral not to kill you now? At such a life-or-death moment, you're still pleading with him. You are indeed too naive and innocent!"

Albert thought I was begging for mercy from Prince Kral, but in reality, I was saying, "Don't hesitate, aim at my necklace directly. You must survive."

Prince Kral understood the message I wanted to convey. He shook his head slightly and then used mind-linking to say to me, "You must survive, and I will find a way to survive as well."

From Prince Kral's words, it was clear he wanted to ensure both our survival.

However, in our current situation, surrounded by Albert and his soldiers, could we really escape unharmed?

"Delia, why aren't you saying anything?" While Prince Kral and I communicated, Albert circled behind me.

He pushed me to the edge of the magic circle, bringing me closer to Prince Kral.

"Could it be that I've hit a nerve, and you can't argue, so you choose to remain silent?"

"Albert, don't you think what you're doing is despicable?" I forced back my tears and tried to calm myself. "Using either my or Prince Kral's life to prove your point—does your argument weigh more than a life?"

"Exactly, my words are worth more than a life. With just one command from me, I can turn this place into a river of blood!" Albert was confident in his abilities.

"Taking your life is an easy task for me!"

As Albert spoke confidently, I saw Prince Kral draw his bow to its full extent and then swiftly release an arrow.

Although the arrow was powerful and fast, I noticed it wasn't aimed at me. It was aimed at Albert, who was standing behind me.

Although Albert was standing behind me, his body wasn't fully covering mine.

A large part of his body was exposed to Prince Kral. Realizing Prince Kral's intentions, I quickly dodged, hoping that the arrow would hit Albert.

Even if it didn't kill him immediately, injuring him would be a good outcome.

However, when the arrow was only about 10 centimeters away from Albert, it suddenly stopped and melted at an incredible speed.

I turned my head, stunned by the sight, and then noticed that Albert's eyes had turned a deep red, as if they could bleed.

"Kral, do you think you can hurt me with such tricks? How foolish!"

Prince Kral's actions infuriated Albert. He raised his hand, and a cold wind swept around the magic circle.

Along with this wind, I saw thick and long vines growing rapidly from the ground within the magic circle.

These vines moved towards the soldiers. 2

At first, the soldiers tried to resist, but they soon realized they were no match for the vines.

In just a short while, the vines strangled the soldiers to death.

Quickly, most of the people within the magic circle became lifeless corpses.

Prince Kral and Alen were still alive, but the vines continued to wrap around their bodies.

The vines had thorns that pierced their flesh.

"Albert, that's enough, stop!" Watching Prince Kral and Alen's breath grow weaker, on the verge of death, I cried out in agony.

"Albert, what do you want? Does one of us, either Prince Kral or me, have to die?"

"That's right, at least one of you must die, or I won't be satisfied!" Albert manipulated the vines while coldly laughing.

"Delia, do you want to die in place of Kral?"
