120 On A Journey

Vivian's POV

After Prince Kral spoke those words, none of us said a word, and the tent fell into deadly silence. I could tell how determined Prince Kral was to save Delia.

Knowing that Delia hadn't drunk the love potion but was still willing to die for him must have greatly shocked him.

They were both willing to risk their lives for each other, and I could see that their love was profound.

I turned to look at Alice. I saw her bowing her head slightly, lost in thought.

On the other hand, Alen was also watching Alice, his brows furrowed tightly.

My intuition told me that Alen both hoped Alice would say something and feared that she might say something beyond his control, which explained his conflicted expression.

"Kral, I and Albert... We have a connection," Alice finally spoke after a long silence.

"Delia's mother once wrote a letter, a heartfelt confession she wrote with the remaining sanity she had left after drinking the love potion. If Albert were to see this letter, I believe it might change his mind."

"Where is this letter?" Kral asked, his excitement evident.

"I need that letter desperately, and I won't give up any chance to save Delia."

"Kral, I can give you the letter, but I have one condition," Alice replied calmly, despite Kral's excitement.

"You must choose a reliable person to deliver this letter to Albert. You, on the other hand, must rest properly."

"But I..." Kral tried to argue, attempting to change Alice's mind, but she raised her hand to stop him from continuing.

"Listen to me, Kral. Your current condition is not good. You should stay in the tent and recuperate. When Delia returns, I hope you can meet her in the best possible state."

Alice's words touched Prince Kral deeply. After a moment of thought, he nodded slightly and softly said, "Alright."

However, Prince Kral soon thought of another issue and asked, "I must send a trustworthy person to deliver the letter. Do you think I should send Alen?"

"Your Highness," even before Alice could respond, I eagerly interjected, "Let me go! I've met Albert several times, and I'm sure he won't harm me. Delia is my friend, and I need to know if she's safe now. I must deliver the letter to Albert and see Delia as soon as possible. I believe I can handle this task!"

"Such an important matter should not be entrusted to just one person," as I finished speaking, Alen raised an objection, "When we soldiers go on missions, we always go in pairs or more. In case one encounters trouble, the other can provide timely assistance. Vivian, if you're going to deliver the letter to Albert, then I should go with you!"

"You?" I hesitated, looking at Alen, whose wounds had not fully healed.

I really didn't want to go on this mission with him.

"You should focus on healing. Master, don't you agree with me?"

"Vivian, I think Alen has a point," Alice pondered for a moment and decided to support Alen's proposal.

"I'm not comfortable with you going alone to find Albert. With Alen accompanying you, I'd be more at ease."

"Master!" Hearing Alice's words, I squirmed in protest, "But I don't want to go with Alen to see Albert!"

"Vivian, since you're unwilling, then let me go with you!" Prince Kral said as he uncovered himself from the blankets, attempting to get out of bed.

"I still want to see Delia as soon as possible."

"Your Highness, please don't get agitated!" I shouted immediately upon seeing Prince Kral's intention to leave the bed. "You need to rest and recuperate. Alen and I can handle this together!"

"Vivian, are you willing to go out with me?" Alen was both surprised and delighted by my words.

I glanced at Alen. His complexion had improved significantly, and even his eyes were lively, with a healthy glow on his face.

Seeing Alen's excited demeanor, I couldn't refuse him, even though I was still angry with him.

"Your Highness, Master, Alen and I will go find Albert together," I took a deep breath and, with determination, addressed Prince Kral and Alice.

"Master, can you please hand me the letter?"

"Come with me outside the tent."

After saying this, Alice walked out of the tent, and Alen and I quickly followed her.

Once outside Prince Kral's tent, Alice found a secluded corner and took out a thin letter from her pocket, handing it to me.

"Vivian, I had a premonition that we might need this letter before we came here, so I've been carrying it with me. This letter is of the utmost importance, and you must keep it close. Never lose it, understand?"

"I understand!" I accepted the letter with both hands and nodded firmly.

"It's getting late now. You should depart quickly. You don't need to worry about Kral here. I'll watch over him," Alice said as she bent down to give me a hug.

"I'll be here, waiting for your good news!"

"It's a promise!"

As Alice and I said our goodbyes, Alen gave orders to the soldiers stationed outside the tent.

He instructed them to prepare water, rations, torches, and maps, packing them into lightweight backpacks.

The soldiers quickly brought the requested items, and Alen shouldered the backpack.

Once we were prepared for the journey ahead, he simply said, "Let's go."

I bid farewell to Alice, who watched us with a heavy heart, and then Alen and I set out on our quest to find Albert and Delia.

Alen had a general idea of the direction in which Albert and Delia had departed.

To reach them, we needed to traverse a forest.

Alen held the map and guided me on the fastest route. His reasoning made sense, so I decided to trust his judgment.

Initially, Alen took the lead, guiding me towards our destination. However, I soon noticed that something was off with Alen – he was being overly cautious!

While encountering small animals during a forest trek was normal, I knew how to react if we came across larger animals like bears (by lying still immediately). I certainly didn't expect to become a wild animal's meal.

But Alen seemed to think otherwise.

He was as protective as if he were looking after a child, being hyper-alert to any suspicious sounds, as though I would be snatched away by wild creatures if he let his guard down for a moment.

We set out in the late afternoon and had been walking for a few hours when the darkness of night completely enveloped us.

Alen retrieved a small torch from his backpack and lit it. This provided us with enough light to avoid stumbling blindly in the pitch-black night.

"Swoosh!"

Suddenly, there was a swift and brief sound, reminiscent of some wild creature darting out from the underbrush.

It moved so quickly that I only caught a blurry glimpse of a dark shape, making it impossible to identify the creature.

"Vivian, be careful!" Alen suddenly turned and tightly embraced me.

"There are too many wild animals here, and I won't allow them to harm you!"

As Alen spoke, the wild creature that had made the noise froze in its tracks. 1

I focused my gaze and saw that it was a large black rabbit.

Regardless of its size, it was still just a rabbit and posed no threat to me, let alone the idea of it eating me.

Thinking about this, I was once again touched by Alen's concern.

Though it was just a rabbit, Alen cared about looking after me, showing what a gentle and kind man he was.

However, I quickly remembered his engagement, and I couldn't become entangled with a soon-to-be-married man.

So, I immediately pushed him away.

"Vivian?" Alen looked puzzled and surprised when I pushed him away.

He stared at me in astonishment and asked, "What's wrong with you?"

"It's not me. It's you!" I pouted and said unhappily, "You're engaged to be married, and you should keep your distance from other girls, or your fiancée will get upset!"

Hearing my words, Alen was even more bewildered.

He stared at me in shock for a while, then finally spoke, "Vivian, did you distance yourself from me earlier because of that so-called fiancée?"
