12 His Possessive Eyes
Sibyl’s POV
Nuri has been a bit strange these days. He would either force me to ride with him or stay in the carriage with me.
He used to be cold to me, but these days he always wants to be with me.
If it weren't for his unchanging face, I'd almost think he was possessed by witchcraft.
I could only be careful with him and pray in my heart that we would get to our destination quickly.
Three days later, when we finally reached Sunset Town, I jumped out of the carriage happily and took a deep breath.
Wow, there's a smell of tropical fruit in the air here. Mangoes, pineapples, grapes, and coconuts. Those are all fruits I have seen in the palace but never eaten.
“Madam, please take a look at my goods. They are good souvenirs.” An old woman came up with a basket to sell the goods.
“Go away, don't come near us,” said Roth, a bearded knight-leader at Nuri's side, impatiently.
“Oh, Dear Knight, your wife is so beautiful. Please buy her a pair of rabbit ears,” the old woman said to Nuri.
“Rabbit ears?” I looked curiously at her basket. There were many ornaments I had never seen before. One of them was a pair of rabbit ears. They were fluffy and very cute.
I couldn't help but pick up the rabbit ears to stroke, this fuzzy touch reminds me of a spring dandelion.
I like them very much. Fluffy things put me in a good mood.
“Is the rabbit a mascot?” I asked.
Wayde nod. “Yes, the mascot of the Sunset Town is the rabbit. Everyone thinks they are kind, pure, and auspicious. Since ancient times, the girls here have had a tradition of wearing rabbit ears. Newlyweds, in particular, like to wear rabbit-ear-shaped ornaments, which are said to represent easy pregnancy and the blessing of fertility.
My face is a little red, ready to quietly put down the rabbit ears in my hand.
“I'll take it,” Nuri said to Wayde. “Pay her.”
“Thank you. I wish you many children and many blessings.” The old woman was very happy.
“There's a hairpin at the bottom of the rabbit ear. You can wear them on your head,” says Manolo with a smile.
Nuri was about to leave when he heard Manolo's words. He turned around, took the rabbit ear in my hand, and put it on my head.
He was so close to me that I could smell him.
I stood there, waiting for him to put the two ornaments in my hair.
I think I must be like a stupid rabbit at this moment.
Roth snickered, his whiskers quivering with laughter.
Embarrassed, I reached for the Rabbit's ear.
Nuri take my hand and stopped me.
“Very cute,” he said.
Roth and Wayde's eyes widened in surprise, and I wondered if something was wrong with my ears. Did Nuri just say“Cute”? Maybe he was just complimenting the rabbit ears.
“It's lovely,” says Manolo, nodding.
My face must be redder than a rabbit's eyes. I quietly looked up at Nuri, met his eyes, and then quickly bowed my head.
Oh, Sibyl, calm down. Don't blush.
Nuri's words eased my dilemma. “Let's go to the house.”
I trotted after him.
……………………………………
The place I thought we were staying was a few homes rented from residents, but as I stood in a tall, luxurious compound, I knew I had once again underestimated my husband, Nuri.
He bought the compound. There are four high walls, a garden, a fountain, and many houses, almost like a castle.
The servants were busy carrying things. After several days on the road, we were all tired.
Everyone was given a room. Relieved, I went to my room, kicked off my shoes, and lay on my back.
Nuri entered the room.
I quickly stood up, straightened my hair and clothes, and said, “What are you doing here?”
He glared at me. “This is my room.”
Does he want to live with me?
As far as I know, many famous knights, merchants, and nobles have their own rooms. They don't live with their wives all the time. They only go to their wives' rooms on certain days. On other days, they spend the night in their concubines' rooms or in search of lovers.
Being the wife of a nobleman is sometimes a painful thing.
Nuri and I were married by force of the Queen, and I did not expect him to love me or demand his loyalty, so I never wished him to choose to live with me.
To tell the truth, I always get nervous when I'm in the same bedroom with him. Not only was he a hero who hated royalty, but he seemed to have some sort of possessive interest in me.
Every night, his eyes are like those of a wolf who has been staring at his prey. I feel like I have nowhere to go.
He was standing in the bedroom, looking at me. “I want to take a bath.”
I nodded and went up to undress him.
I stood in front of him and undid the buttons on his robe. Then I put my arms around his waist and undid his belt.
Men's clothes are more complicated than I thought. I tried several times without untying the belt of his clothes.
I was in a hurry. I looked down and moved closer to him.
However, one of my rabbit ears accidentally touched his nose. The fluffy rabbit fur made him sneeze uncontrollably.
His tall body leaned sharply toward me, and I staggered backward.
“Ah!” My heel touched the wooden tub, and I lost my balance and fell into it.
This tub is custom-made for Nuri, so it's larger than normal. It was filled with hot water, and I fell into it as if I were in a lake, and the water flooded my head in an instant.
“Help.” I'm afraid of water.
A big hand grabbed my arm and pulled me up.
I leaned over the edge of the tub to catch my breath.
Oh, my clothes are wet and my hair is dripping.
I was about to stand up. “Excuse me, I need to change into a clean dress.” 2
Nuri held my shoulder to stop me. He took off his clothes and stepped into the tub.
The tub became crowded in an instant. Although I tried to stay away from him, our bodies still touched.
His possessive eyes stared back at me.
I crossed my arms in front of my chest, trying to hide my breasts, which were obvious from the wet clothes.
“Do you know Manolo?” He asked in a hoarse voice as he stared at my chest.
I shook my head. “I don't know him.”
“Did you ever love a man before you got married?”
What does he mean by that?
I know that, as a royal princess, the most important thing is not to make him angry.
“I see very few men in the palace, except my servants and my family.”
I'm not lying. I spent 18 years in a corner of the palace, not seeing many men, let alone falling in love with one.
To tell the truth, I don't even know what love is. I just want to escape from the palace and take my brother to a peaceful place to live.
Nuri was very pleased with my answer. He put one hand on the back of my head and put his forehead against mine. The water in my hair soaked his hair.
“You have to remember you're married now. You belong to me, you can't smile at other men.”
There was an undeniable arrogance in his tone, and I could only nod.
“Why are you afraid of me?” He felt my trembling.
What am I supposed to tell him? How can I not be afraid of a tall, domineering man who hates royalty?
Nuri looked me in the eye and asked me another question. “Why did you put down those rabbit ears today? You liked them so much.”
Why did he suddenly mention rabbit ears? I was going to give them up because I was shy. As a newly married woman, how can I not be shy when I hear the word pregnancy?
“You don't want to have my baby, do you?”
Oh, my God, Nuri's mind is jumping.
I was afraid he was going to ask me more questions than I couldn’t answer. I shook my head. “No, I do.”
“Then prove it.”
He kissed me on the lips. It was gentle at first but soon became rough.
He pushed me into the tub, and the water in the tub began to shake with the violence of his kiss.
The hot water made my face redder. I felt my pores opening all over my body. I wanted more air. I wanted to breathe.
But Nuri wouldn't let go of my lips. I had to close my eyes and get air from his mouth.
“Do you want to pass out?” His lips finally moved away from mine. I felt weak and leaned on his shoulder to breathe.
The steam blurred my vision, and I felt my brain was unable to think.
He picked me up, wrapped me in a blanket, and carried me to the bed.
He looked right at me and ripped the blanket off me.
I was naked in front of him.
He simply wiped his body with the blanket, and then he fell on top of me.
I closed my eyes and shivered a little.
I knew I wouldn't get away this time.
He will be my true husband tonight.
