Chapter 35 – Robin did not believe her
Robin had wanted to hug her to show that he still cared for her but recalled how photos of their semi-intimate moments ended up on social media. For that record, he did not want to take any such risk again.
Zayla was saddened by the question. Perhaps, leaving for a few days was not a good decision. In the end, she was still forced to take down the video.
"Can't I come to visit?"
Robin responded quickly to an email while Zayla sat on the visitors' chair in front of him. It was as if he did not hear the question before but lifting his head, he responded casually,
"Of course you can but you should have called because I have an important meeting in an hour."
Zayla was offended but since he mentioned that he had a meeting, she put on a calm appearance and pouted,
"Darling, I missed you. I'm ready to do it anyhow you want. You have not even shown that you missed me," she stood up and went to sit in front of him.
Robin raised his brows and responded, "Did you think about the good fare of our unborn child?"
Zayla stiffened, "You can be gentle," she said with determination. Robin shook his head before responding,
"No, I can't. I don't know how."
"And Sabri…"
"Stop mentioning her name, Zayla. Stop comparing yourself to Sabrina!" Robin ended up yelling at her, as his anger swelled up.
"Her boyfriend slapped me," Zayla said in a teary voice, Robin froze.
"What?"
Did the bastard hit his pregnant girlfriend? Was he insane? As the questions run through Robin's mind, Zayla was satisfied by his reaction, and continued to explain,
"I went to eat with my mom at a restaurant and I went to use the ladies' room. He was there waiting for me."
"What did he want?"
Robin gave his full attention, thinking of ways to kill the bastard for laying a finger on the mother of his unborn child.
Zayla knew she had won. Robin was going to avenge her. She felt so victorious, she ended up spewing the truth when she did not intend to.
"He forced me to take down the news about Sabrina."
"Oh,"
Robin's anger died. At the same time, Zayla lost all hope and her eyes turned glassy again.
"Oh? Won't you do anything about it?"
Robin leaned on his headrest in deep thought. If Zayla had listened to him, this would not have happened.
"Isn't it good that he did not press charges?"
"But he slapped me," Zayla's voice thinned out and Robin frowned instantly. He was about to pull her into his arms but resisted and said,
"For that, he has to pay. Did you get his name?"
The light in Zayla's eyes dimmed once again. "Uhm, no."
Robin sighed frustratedly. If only he could get the name of the bastard. Swallowing his anger, his attention went back to Zayla.
"Unless we have a name, we can't do much but I will have someone check the cameras."
Robin picked up his phone and made a few calls. When he was done, his mood felt worse, as he stared at Zayla who had gone back to her seat. His question stunned her.
"Zayla, why are you so paranoid?"
"What are you talking about?"
Zayla wiped a tear and asked. She could not put any form of understanding to Robin's accusation as he revealed,
"There is no proof to all you have said."
Zayla gritted her teeth. Sabrina's boyfriend indeed cleared everything but Robin should believe her, right?
"Robin, do you mean I will hit myself? He said that no one will believe me because he could manipulate the cameras," Zayla said helplessly, her heart sinking as Robin continuously shook his head.
"Zayla, even if he manipulated the cameras, no one in the restaurant saw him. Yet, there was footage of you going and coming out of the ladies' room."
Zayla did not hold back her tears. It was painful for that man to get away with what he did to her. All she could do was continuously plead, hoping that Robin would see through her eyes that she had been unfairly treated.
"Robin, he hit me, I swear it and why would I take down the news when I left the penthouse because of it?"
That information got Robin thinking otherwise since Zayla was indeed adamant to take down the news and had threatened to abort the child if he did. She also left for a few days because of it.
"Sir, the CEOs are waiting in the conference room," Aria announced, jolting Robin from his mental analysis.
"Will you wait? It's going to be a long meeting," Robin stood up and asked.
"I will go to the penthouse," Zayla said and stood up, while wiping her tears. Robin sighed,
"Let the chef cook something for you to eat. You look tired."
Zayla forced a smile and left the office but did not respond. Robin felt helpless since there was no proof of all that Zayla had said.

Devin arrived at the office with glistening exciting eyes. Lizzy was equally excited since her design came out well and said,
"You look excited."
"Have you not seen that news about Sabrina disappearing?"
Devin asked in high spirits. Dealing with Zayla was like accomplishing a great target.
Lizzy took her phone, her eyes glistening with amusement. "How did you do it? I thought…"
"Let it be our little secret Lizzy, not even Sabrina should know," Devin warned seriously, knowing that Sabrina was too modest and might not like what he did to Zayla. He did not regret it though.
Lizzy's eyes shone as she agreed, "Fine, so tell me."
"I got someone to follow her till I got the news that she was in the restaurant. You know how pregnant women can't stay away from the washroom," Devin shrugged while removing his coat.
"And she agreed to take down the news just like that?" Lizzy could not believe it.
"No, but after I threatened her when I had already given her a good slap, she did not have a choice."
"What? You slapped Robin's woman?" Lizzy could not help laughing.
"And it felt so good. I got a call before I got here that he called to check on the surveillance and all."
"And?"2
"My tracks were well covered. Now let me see our final design," Devin got serious and requested when he sat back on his executive swivel chair.
Lizzy turned the small board to face him, excited at how his jaw seemed to drop at what he was seeing. "This is amazing."
