Chapter 36 – The amazing design
Lizzy beamed at Devin's reaction while she explained the design. 2
"Yeah, the dress is designed in a way to flaunt our five most expensive jewels."
Devin studied the design carefully. A lot of skin was exposed but the hands to the elbow were covered with fabric gloves. The cut of the dress was just above the breast but there was a lot of fabric below.
The exposed collarbone down to the chest flaunted the diamond necklace, which took attention from the dress and skin, making it irresistible to ignore the necklace.
"I love you, Lizzy. Let this be a surprise for her. Now let me see what you are wearing," Devin probed.
Lizzy slipped the paper on the board, exposing another design but Devin frowned. Before he voiced his disagreement, she went on to explain,
"I want all the attention to be on my elder sister so I'm going with this."
Still, Devin did not agree. "Too simple. You won't go to any event with me in such a simple dress."
Being the king of fashion, how could he allow her to wear that? No way. Lizzy smiled and flipped the paper again. She already guessed that he would disagree.
"Fine, how about this?"
Devin's eyes lit, as he saw the next design, "Much better. Now get the fabrics and make sure it's all ready a day before the event."
"Of course," Lizzy agreed before picking up her board and stepping out of his office.
Devin treated her like every other staff member, irrespective of being his sister.
The next day at Sabrina's office, she received an email from Martin. It was a sample contract so she read the content, her eyes widening at the offer, which seemed to be too good to be true. She quickly called her father on the phone since he had left the office to meet one of his clients.
"Dad, the contract seems too good. I forwarded it to your email," Sabrina chimed as soon as the line connected.
"I will check it and get back to you," her father responded before hanging up.
A few minutes later, he called back. "Tell him to send the hard copies and sign them as soon as it arrives."
Sabrina frowned, as she expected her father to act more cautiously before signing the contract. She asked, "You don't think that we should involve the lawyers?"
"Not yet but for the next one, scrutinize it better," her father advised. He was working with experience that Sabrina was yet to have. She continued to say,
"Okay. Seventy percent shares are quite too much for the amount we are investing."
"You will soon understand but do as I say," her father said calmly, she agreed.
"Okay."
Sabrina hung up and called Martin directly. "You can send the hard copy but don't you think the offer is too much?" She asked curiously, wondering what Martin was up to. He explained causally,
"I told your brother before. The highest beneficiary of this contract is you."
Sabrina smiled and said, "I will take the deal."
"I will bring the documents myself but how about I treat you to a good meal?" Martin pushed his luck, expecting her to refuse.
"It's already lunchtime so I will not refuse."
***
Robin was thinking about Sabrina in preparation for his new whore from yesterday. She arrived as he arranged,
"Get in and undress!" He ordered her.
The girl obeyed and Robin picked a pack of condoms from his drawer. He was about to join her when his phone rang.
Reluctantly, he answered it since it was Zayla. Since she had moved back to the penthouse, Robin was solely responsible for her so he was disturbed and asked,
"Zayla, is everything alright?"
There was an arrow of excitement glazing her voice which Robin could neither put a finger on nor understand.
"Yes, but I don't know if you got the news."
Robin did not respond so she figured that he did not understand. "Check the celebrity news channel."
Robin frowned. He was very busy and aside from business and political news, he hardly checked the celebrity's channel. Besides, he was so eager to have that release.
"Zayla, I'm very busy."
"It's about Sabrina and her new boyfriend," Zayla let out. She did not want Robin to miss it and this time, no one would know about her involvement.
Sabrina's ex-boyfriend must have forced her to take down the news but this time, nobody would since nothing would point to her.
"I'm not interested,"
Robin responded bluntly, while he recalled Devin bragging about Sabrina in his bed. No, the more she stayed away from anything to do with them, the better.
Zayla was dismayed but how could she let her hard work be in vain? Also, how would she get Robin angry with Sabrina enough to make her return the documents to the villa? No. Robin had to watch.
"I don't mean the one who slapped me. She kind of cheated on that old one with the one we met at the restaurant," Zayla tried her best to explain the situation since Robin seemed to be more and more impatient about it all.
"Robin, why don't you check the details on the news?" Zayla asked in frustration.
Time was already ticking and this was life. However, she had paid for rebroadcast so she just had to patiently convince Robin to tune in to the channel.
While she spoke, she muted her tv for Robin to have a clear understanding of her words.
Robin did not want to watch something that would spoil his mood but not wanting to offend Zayla, he turned on the LED flat screen in his office.
"I don't understand what you are saying Zayla, but if it's important, let me check."
Zayla was excited because this was going to make him hate Sabrina and she could ask for the villa. She hung up before Robin changed to the celebrity channel and his eyes grew darker and darker at the news.
