Chapter 128 – Begging his Ex-wife to dance with him.
Lizzy had no idea if the engagement was the reason for Devin's open-mindedness or if Matilda had advised him this way. 0
Whatever it was, she was even more carried away by Daniel's request to Devin, "So, Lizzy, I'm asking you in front of your brother. Go on a date for me. I'd like to cook for you."
Devin could not help chuckling at the playboy who claimed to know how to cook. How irresponsible of him to try to impress a woman this way. Did he not think of the consequence of messing up if he was not able to do it well?
"I wonder what you want to cook for her but you better not lure her to your house to seduce her," Devin warned Daniel with the bridge of seriousness.
Daniel smiled. He knew that no one would believe that he knew how to cook. Only Robin had tasted his food and complimented it to be very nice.
Devin recalled him even emptying the plate of pasta he made for him. As for taking advantage of Lizzy, Daniel was not thinking in that direction.
"I'm a gentleman, Devin. I've never forced or seduced any woman before and where is Matilda?" He asked, wondering if Devin was not afraid of somebody hitting on Matilda by this time.
As Daniel looked around, he saw Matilda smiling at Robin and knew that if he could use it to blow up Devin's anger, he'd leave them alone. "There she is with Robin, looking so beautiful."
Devin traced Daniel's gaze when he felt the latter was just trying to provoke him but as soon as he saw Matilda shaking Robin's hand and also saw her giving something that looked like a paper to Robin, his jealousy arose like the cedars of Lebanon.
Devin glowered instantly but still rebuked Daniel, "hey, be careful, she's my fiancé."
Daniel was shocked, wondering when. It was just a few days ago and Daniel had arrived late at the party so he did not know.
Feeling like Devin was just telling him of what he intended to do, he wanted to tease Daniel some more to hasten it but Daniel was already gone, hastening towards Robin and Matilda's direction where she was now saying something to Sabrina when Lizzy asked Daniel,
"You like her?" She felt unease when Daniel mentioned Matilda again, feeling like he indeed had feelings for the latter. Daniel frowned in confusion, asking,
"Who?"
"Matilda," Lizzy revealed while looking intensely at him.
"Not the way you think. I'll let you in on a secret. Robin saw how your brother looked at her and told me to tease him. Matilda is beautiful but not my type," Daniel smiled and said before he frowned a little, wondering if Lizzy was jealous.
From her behavior towards him, it did not look like she was one to care if he was with any woman since she didn't want him in the first place.
"What is your type?" Lizzy asked him, making him surprised at how interested she was in that line of discussion.
Daniel was always honest with her from the beginning and he did not see himself changing that approach any time soon.
He was not like Robin who was hiding his feelings because Zayla was carrying his child. Daniel was a free man.
"You. So, do we have a date next week Saturday? I'll finish cooking and come pick you up," he said seriously.
He wanted to prove to Lizzy that the things she heard about him were true but he could also change for the better if not the best. He still did not expect her to accept the invitation so he was amazed when she asked him,
"Then how would I know that you indeed cooked the food?"
Daniel smiled broadly; it enhanced his handsome features. "Right. I'll come and pick you up, and give you a chair in the kitchen while you watch me cook, so how about that?" He asked with a teasing smile.
"I'll love to see you cook," Lizzy smiled and agreed. Daniel felt like he won a business deal and was determined to make the best out of their first date.
"Saturday morning it is," Daniel confirmed with a satisfied grin before he added, "I wonder when your brother will get married and give you your freedom. You looked so afraid of him."
Lizzy realized that Daniel was indeed late and thought to give him an update on everything that happened before he arrived.
"Well, for your appointment or disappointment, Devin and Matilda got engaged before you arrived."
Daniel's eyes narrowed and he felt excited, instantly flung with the understanding of the reason why Devin gave his sister the freedom to decide on whether or not she wanted to go out with him.
"That is wonderful news. Maybe we should also get married very soon," he teased Lizzy, whose eyes widened.
"I know you are kidding," she rolled her eyes and spoke. Daniel wanted to say that he was serious but what if he ruined what he managed to build so far? They should at least go on the date first.
They got distracted by some odd sounds trying to outshine the music. Not only Daniel but some other people were awed when Devin grabbed Robin by the collar, asking, "What did you take from my fiancé?"

Matilda was thinking of a way to properly thank Robin for his help. Excusing herself to use the washroom, she went to write a note of appreciation in her father's study.
By the time she returned, Devin was with Lizzy and Daniel so she saw the perfect opportunity to give Robin the note.
Robin was at the table with Sabrina and seeing other couples dancing, he requested, "I feel ashamed to have never danced with you after our wedding day."
Sabrina ignored the request hanging all over his words and chuckled, "That was a miserable dance. Not worthy of the memory."
She recalled how Robin frowned throughout the dance and even intentionally messed up some of the steps to embarrass her.
Robin looked at her remorsefully and said from the depth of his heart, "I'm begging you to dance with me, Sabrina."
