Chapter 254 – Recreating memories
"It's okay, Liz, I don't need all that makeup. I'm only going to eat in a house I spent three years of my life in," Sabrina said to the all-worked-up Lizzy who wanted to ensure that her sister was looking her best.2
"You still have to look your best, so that Robin doesn't look at any other woman. He is a good guy with a bad weakness, just like Daniel," Lizzy said, Both Sabrina and Matilda glared at her and Sabrina asked her,
"Liz, I know that you and Daniel aren't official but has he ever cheated on you?"
Lizzy recalled Daniel telling her that he hadn't had any woman from the moment he began to show interest in her but could not help being doubtful from the way he never touched her intimately until they recently shared a kiss.
"I don't live with him so how would I know what he does in my absence?"
Sabrina was saddened that Lizzy had those thoughts because even she was trying her best to convince herself that Robin had changed.
"Please don't let my experience influence you negatively."
"You are right, Sabrina, I already told her that people change but I don't know the reason why she still keeps that in her mind," Matilda spoke with dismay, knowing that Daniel was trying his best to make Lizzy happy.
She could not tell Lizzy that Daniel was just slow because of his job and how he had been trying to track down Mara.
"I'm not strong like my sister. I doubt I would be able to take it Daniel ever cheats on me," Lizzy said in a possessive tone, making the two other women wonder exactly when she drank a love portion.
"You are talking as if you two are already in a relationship. The last time I checked, you were trying to avoid him and now, you sound like a love-sick teenager," Matilda pointed out and Sabrina laughed.
"I couldn't control my heart when it fell for him so what more can I do?" Lizzy said pathetically, Sabrina did not know how to comfort her but only hoped that her next date would be better than the rest.
"Since you have another date coming, I can't wait to hear the result."
"I just hope that things move to a different level. Sometimes I feel as if he wants me but other times, I feel differently," Lizzy said honestly and Matilda decided to tease her a little bit, saying,
"You already shared some hot kisses."
Lizzy blushed but her response was interrupted by the doorbell.
"That must be Robin," Matilda said and caught Sabrina's smile. At the same time, her cheeks turned red and she stood up from the bed.
"So how do I look?" She asked nervously since she was going to the villa.
That was the place where Robin never even looked at her before, no matter the effort she put into her looks until she got tired of trying.
"Amazing and I packed some bags for you since you are not returning tonight," Lizzy said, giving her the items.
Sabrina was about to take it when she thought about something and said,
"No, leave it there."
"How would you make it to the office tomorrow?" Lizzy asked worriedly but Sabrina had a plan and did not hide it from her.
She must have settled for less in their time of marriage because she was blinded by love but the same love became an eye-opener for her, her expectations were now high.
"That should be his responsibility if he wants to prove that he has changed, right?"
Matilda and Lizzy smiled as both of them responded simultaneously,
"Right."
When Robin arrived at the mansion, he was a little nervous when he pressed the doorbell, waiting for one of the maids to open the door for him. This was the first time he had taken any woman on a date and could not help fearing that something might go wrong.
When the door opened, he was about to say something when he saw Sabrina standing there, looking so gorgeous and smiling as if the world was problem-free.
He just didn't like that Lizzy designed dresses for her which aided in hiding her bump since Robin loved to see it.
"Dear one, you look very stunning," he smiled and spoke. Taking her hand, he planted a small kiss at the make of it, making her shiver with unease.
Sabrina quickly withdrew her hands, not knowing if it was her pregnancy hormones making her feel the way she did.
"Thank you and you look great yourself."
"Thank you," Robin said, not offended that she pulled her hand away because she still had her smile plastered on her face.
The drive was in a comfortable silence under slow music and Sabrina was surprised to see Robin all tensed but did not question him.
When they arrived at the villa, Sabrina's mood soared, seeing all the bright fresh flowers around.
She remembered turning the garden into a flower garden and recognizing the flowers that they were from there.
Not much had changed in the villa but somehow, everything felt new. The maids were so excited to see her, greeting her respectfully.
Sabrina responded to all their greetings with a smile, as Robin led her to the master bedroom, which they used to share from before.
He did not enter with her and stopped at the entrance.
"There is a dress on the bed. Please change into it and wait for me in the living room," Robin said, Sabrina's brows creased with confusion, wondering if he did not like the dress she wore.
"Why? You don't like what I'm wearing?"
Disappointment laced her voice and Robin thought to explain,
"It's beautiful but I'm trying to recreate that Valentine' day memory. Will you help me please?"
Sabrina was taken aback by his words when she realized that he was trying to make amends and erase that painful memory where he disappointed her but there was one problem.
"But today is not Valentine's Day."
Sabrina thought her observation was going to ruin whatever he had in store for their first date but Robin already had an answer before making the statement.
"Every day would be valentine' day, Christmas, thanksgiving and what have you, only if you give me the chance."
