Chapter 216 – Robin learns his lesson once.
"Just tell me one thing. Is Zayla's pregnancy yours?"2
Robin let out a deep breath, contemplating whether or not he should let out the truth but for Sabrina and Cobby's sake, Devin was his family.
He was no longer a friend of Martin and Robin still saw him as a brother-in-law.
Trusting his thoughts, he let out,
"She's not even pregnant but faking it."
Devin breathed out so loud that Robin felt the warmth of his breath since they sat side by side from each other.
"What a great relief. So, what about Mara?"
Devin felt as if a huge burden had just been lifted off his shoulders upon hearing those words.
Mara might give Sabrina a scare but Zayla's presence always brought her great pain.
This revelation to Devin was going to change everything.
"I believe that she lives in Martin's mansion but we have been able to get only one spy in there and she ascertains that there is no sign of any other woman. I can't tell if she has been paid to keep quiet or she just doesn't know."
Devin was beginning to fear that indeed Mara was non-existent or dead as said in the news.
"How can no one knows if she's there?" He asked in unwavering doubt.
"Mara is a demon. If she had been able to hide all these years, then what would she not do? She sometimes goes by the name Yolanda Thomas and has a powerful hacker who always hides her movement."
"Daniel is still trying to track him down," Robin explained before receiving an email notification on his phone and went to attend to it when Devin asked him,
"About Daniel, is he really serious with Lizzy, or does he want to mess with her?"
Robin was reading an email from one of his CEOs, frowning a little at Devin's question.
Lizzy and Daniel had gone on about five dates so far and Daniel always returned happy, which to Robin meant that everything was fine between them.
Also, he would only give a response if Lizzy was the one asking since she was the one directly involved.
"Why don't you ask him?" Robin shrugged and began to respond to his email.
"He is your best friend," Devin insisted, wanting to hear Robin's opinion but he refused to give him anything tangible.
"A good reason why I can be biased."
Devin did not see the smirk that curled Robin's lips when he responded since the latter was busy on his laptop by then.
"You are right. I will ask him but whatever you do, please don't hurt my sister again," Devin warned in a serious tone, Robin's fingers on the keyboard froze and he said seriously,
"I learn my lesson once."
Devin was satisfied by his response and felt that it was time to take the rest of the day off and also get Martin arrested.
"Thank you."
At the close of the day, Robin went to pick up Sabrina at the office but when he walked past Maria's desk, he realized she was still in the same clothes, except that she had buttoned up.
Shaking his head, he walked away without a word, glad that she wasn't going to be there tomorrow.
Aside from Sabrina, the only woman he grew respect for was Aria. Throughout the years they worked together, she was always disciplined and polite, not missing deadlines, and very diligent.
He was grossly ashamed when years back, he tried to hit on her but she was quick to let him know that she was married and that ended whatever desire Robin had towards her by then.
In every way, Aria was very capable and Robin ensured to reward her very well too.
Reaching Sabrina's office, she was busy, so he stepped out of the car to go and wait for her in her office.
On his way, he met Aria when coming out of the elevator.
"Where are you going when she hasn't closed?" Robin asked, greatly upset.
Aria lowered her head and explained politely,
"She said I should go because you are here."
"I understand but don't you think you should have still waited for me to get here? I didn't send you here to work because her secretary can do that. I only wanted you to keep an eye on her for safety reasons," Robin explained with disappointment.
"I'm very sorry sir, I didn't get that understanding," Aria retorted in a remorseful tone.
Robin remembered that he had brought her in the morning so her car should still be at the office. He felt bad for not having someone to drive it over to her.
"Okay, but you left your car…"
"I told my husband to get it for me and he should be here by now," Aria cut in and responded in the same polite tone, Robin was relieved.
"Alright. Enjoy your evening."
"Thank you, sir."
Robin stepped into the elevator, remembered something, and quickly blocked the door from closing, as he called out,
"Aria!"
She turned around looking confused but was soon relieved when Robin said,
"Next time you are giving me a temporary or relieve secretary, make sure you give them the rules about how to dress."
Aria felt in her guts that something must have gone wrong but did not ask for the details, only asking,
"I will do so sir but will I still work here tomorrow?"
"No. I have a pile of work waiting for you," Robin revealed since he did not give Rita any work apart from that of a receptionist, to inform him about visitors so Aria's work doubled.
"Thank you," Aria said with a smile. She only hoped to not be sent elsewhere after informing both HR and her boss about her pregnancy as Sabrina advised.
When Robin reached Sabrina's office, she smiled and said,
"I will be done very soon."
"Okay," Robin agreed and sat in front of her, just admiring her expressions as she sat and worked behind her desk.
Sabrina felt a little guilty having him leave his office to wait for her in hers and thought to explain,
"Robin, just to let you know, I won't be in the office tomorrow, which is why I'm getting a lot of things done tonight."
Robin was uncomfortable, wondering her reason for absenting herself.
"Why?"
