Visiting the Eternal Blade Sect

"Since she mentioned Fei Xian, do you want to go visit the sect?" Elder Fei asked.  1

Ming Yue turned to him and nodded.

"I haven't seen him in a while, it would be nice to say hello at least once, maybe talk to them about the Beast Continent", she said.

"Mm, I see. I believe that they'll be back in the next few days. But we planned on coming with the sect to the tournament so you'll see them when we join the group. It's in a week or two."

Saying his piece, the Elder leaned forward, grabbing a bit more for his bowl.

"That's fine, I don't think that I'll be with you guys but I'll be tailing from behind", Ming Yue replied

Having figured out the main details of this. breakfast was soon concluded with empty plates and a satisfied stomach. Everyone sat there comfortably, idly chatting as they relaxed for a bit.

The coming days practically flew by. With the tournament coming closer, Rou'er seemed more concentrated and focused, sparring with Ming Yue even more. Although she was taught nothing, the young girl gained quite a bit of combat experience.

Every time she adjusted to Ming Yue's current speed, the cultivator would increase it. She was always slower by a little bit but that gap would close soon enough.

Needless to say, her sense of battle improved greatly.

They still sparred the day before they had to leave. Rou'er fought fiercely, she was silent, doing her damnedest to strike Ming Yue just once.

Her sword swung out, lunging forward to close the distance between them. Sweat dripped down her brow, her breath was harsh and ragged. Even then, she pushed forward. Opposite to her, Ming Yue didn't seem troubled in the slightest.

Even in this small courtyard, she had plenty of space to maneuver. And with her experience, she led Rou'er by the nose. Even if the sparring wasn't difficult for her, it provided an opportunity to ponder the Sword Dao.

She was still puzzled by the words that Elder Xiang left her.

"I can use it like a sword but a stick is still a stick, how would it become a sword?" she asked herself, "How do I progress to the last stage like this?"

At this point, Rou'er seemed tired, her movement slowed as she stared at Ming Yue, lowering her sword for a second or two.

Catching her breath, she moved once more, leaping forward. Holding her sword with one hand, she spun around quickly, swinging out swiftly and with power. But Ming Yue saw past it, stepping forward and moving behind her and hitting the back of her head.

"That's enough for today. You still have to get ready for tomorrow", she said.

Rou'er put her sword away before plopping onto the ground and facing the cultivator.

"Really, we can't go for one more?"

She wiped the sweat off her brow and her breath was still somewhat heavy. However, her eyes were still bright and determined.

But Ming Yue shook her head.

"Don't overexert yourself. You still have a tournament to be in. The next few days should be spent recovering and preparing for it."

Hearing her say this, the girl looked a bit dejected, looking down but nodding.

"Alright then."

"Come on, I'm a little bit hungry today. Let's go clean up and see what your parents cook for dinner."

Ming Yue held her hand out, lifting Rou'er up before going back into the tea shop.

The next day, Elder Fei, Cui Fen, and Rou'er stepped out of their store. Turning around, Elder Fei closed the doors to their shop, wrapping a chain through the handles and locking them. Cui Fen then placed a notice on the front.

"There, let's go, shall we?"

The family of three shared looks with each other before glancing up at the sky where Xiao Yin flew over them. Ming Yue was nowhere to be found but they all knew that she would be around.

Making their way out of the city, there was a horse carriage waiting for them, no doubt sent by the Eternal Blade Sect. They stepped inside and left Luan City, traveling on the road. Ming Yue was just a short distance behind them.

Although she couldn't see them, she could sense them. Her energy spread outward, covering everything for several kilometers.

It wasn't until the sun had gone low that the carriage reached the doors of the Eternal Blade Sect.

"Thank you."

Leaving the carriage, they thanked the driver before approaching the gates where two disciples stood guard. Elder Fei waved his hand before taking out an identity token but the two disciples recognized him and the others almost immediately, opening the doors for them.

"Welcome, Elder Fei!"

They greeted him respectfully and he smiled, lifting them up.

"Ah I do not deserve this treatment, I'm just a tea shop owner, traveling with my wife and daughter."

Even then, neither disciple dared to show any disrespect, letting the family walk in. Meanwhile, Ming Yue watched them and sneaked in. There was no barrier stopping her so she just ran up the wall, carrying Hei Yue in her arms. Even if there was one, with the Black Blade, sneaking in wasn't troublesome at all.

Within the sect grounds, she flew over everything, looking down at the practice fields.

She then turned her attention to the center of the sect where a hexagonal pagoda stood. It was nine stories tall and made of wood. This was where the famed Eonic Stance of Eternal Blade Sect was stored, a collection of several hundred years of knowledge used to develop it.

It was the basis of every disciple's swordsmanship, unique only to their sect.

Different from the Sword Sage Path, the Eonic Stance was created with the sole purpose of creating the perfect fighting style. A chain of hundreds of moves meant to disrupt and defeat.

If Ming Yue had not started on the Sword Sage Path, she could've gone down the path of the Eonic Stance. But it would not have ended well.

While the Sword Sage Path was open-ended and flexible, the Eonic Stance was incredibly rigid. She would've had to constantly practice and memorize a singular chain of attacks. There was little room for change.

Alas, she flew towards the pagoda, landing on the roof of the eighth level. She put Hei Yue right beside her while Xiao Yin landed on her other side. Getting comfortable, Ming Yue looked over at the two beasts before gazing down.

"Are you two excited? We're going to visit Five Element City after so long" she said.

Both of them answer with happy noises, no doubt sharing her excitement. Among other things, all three of them couldn't help but think about the food. Although the markets of Luan City provided a variety of different foods, nothing could beat the markets of the capital city.

"I wonder if anything new has come around."

Thinking this to herself, Ming Yue looked away from the sect, instead gazing up at the night sky. It was a half moon and with her being this high up, it actually seemed quite close. Her eyes widened, admiring the beauty of it before noticing something.

Her gaze sharpened and she stood up and leaned further out.

"It's... that figure again!"

Not wasting another second, she ascended, flying towards the small shadowy figure. It was the same one that she saw before, floating there silently. Daring not to blink, she did not want to miss it again.

But as she got closer, the figure began to shimmer. In fact, the space around them was distorted.

"No!"

She brought Blood Moon out but by the time she got there, they were gone. She looked around, checking everything carefully but there was no trace of them.
