Spending a Night in Peace
Wo Long took another bite, chewing and swallowing before answering her question.
"I've long known about the Archive of Six Gates, It has records dating back to the Warlord Age, with many coming from the records of the Six Great Kingdoms. However, that does not mean that it has everything there is to know about the world."
He pointed at himself with a proud look on his face.
"I have spent my life studying and researching rare and powerful materials and artifacts. The Abyssal Ice is simply one of many, I may not know every single one of them but the number of people who can match my expertise can be counted on one hand."
"Really? then is it possible to tell me about these items?"
Ming Yue pulled out a paper slip, containing the pill recipe. Among the ingredients on that list, the Abyssal Ice and two other names were circled.
Handing it over to Wo Long, he looked at it, reading through the list. He took a moment to do so before looking up at Ming Yue.
"This... is this the pill recipe that the Abyssal Ice is for?" he questioned.
The young woman nodded.
"Yes, it is", she replied.
Wo Long took another look at it but his face was full of disbelief.
"You have everything else but these three pieces?"
She nodded once more.
The elderly man rubbed his chin before handing it over.
"To think that you had the rest of the ingredients, perhaps the Abyssal Ice is not a far too-off goal."
Putting his chopsticks down, he leaned forward, speaking in a more serious tone.
"Though your two options aren't as great as they seem, there may be a third option for you. It is... well a combination of both and nothing more than an idea."
Ming Yue perked up, looking with interest.
"What is it?" she asked.
He rubbed his chin, answering with a careful tone.
"It is just an idea, something that I merely thought of. In many ways, it may be even more dangerous than the Frostflame Bears or diving down the Mountain's Ink. It may not even produce results", he told her.
"Still, any advice that you have is helpful", she replied.
Seeing the determination in her eyes, Wo Long revealed it.
"You could create Abyssal Ice. You can take some of the water from the lake and feed it with treasures full of Yin energy. Whatever plants and herbs alongside the cores of beasts, you could use them to strengthen it. Once there is enough, the Mountain's Ink will naturally turn into Abyssal Ice."
Hearing this, Ming Yue had a thoughtful look, considering this proposal of his.
"In the end, none of these options will have definite results. There's a reason why Abyssal Ice is hardly known by anyone. Obtaining it is difficult and nearly impossible for many cultivators", he said.
The young woman nodded.
"I understand, I may just do that, thank you for helping me."
Yuan chuckled.
"There's no need to thank us, we're just doing this on a whim. It's not every day that you meet someone as young and remarkable as you. Normally, there'd be many haughty geniuses coming through but they barely last a second in the lake. It takes a while for those greenhorns to humble themselves. Now then, please enjoy dinner. I'm sure there's there are many things to talk about."
Wo Long's eyes lit up as his wife said this.
"Right, like this recipe, you have the rest of this? Is it... it is possible if I could see them? Even hearing about how you obtained them is enough for me!
Ming Yue didn't even notice until now that he had opened up a journal to an empty page and had a brush and ink ready to record.
"Uh, I... alright then, this is..."
Agreeing to this, she started to take out each piece. Considering the help that they've given her, there was no reason for her to say no.
The rest of the night was spent with her talking and telling Wo Long about the treasures that she'd found, letting him look and inspect. Sitting beside her husband, Yuan watched quietly, smiling as she saw the child-like wonder on her husband's face.
Both Xiao Yin and Hei Yue were fast asleep, curled up together and the night went by quietly.
The next day, Ming Yue woke up t the crack of dawn to train in the courtyard. It was cold and brisk but she felt warm afterward.
Upon coming inside, her nose was met by the sweet smell of breakfast, seeing a tray of freshly cooked buns. The married couple was already there, eating while feeding the two beasts by their side.
"Ah, you wake up quite early but you must be feeling hungry now. Please have something to eat", said Yuan.
Ming Yue took a seat, picked up a bun, and bit into it. It was fluffy and hot as she had both the bread and the meat filling inside. She relished the taste, unable the hide the smile of satisfaction on her smile.
"Good, isn't it?"
Yuan looked at her with a warm smile to which the young woman could only nod, feeling embarrassed.
"Now then, what do you plan to do?" she asked her.
Ming Yue took a moment to think before answering.
''I'm going to do the third option. Even if it's just an idea, I'm willing to see if it works."
"I see, in that case, you're going to need to head over to the Mountain's Ink and take some of it."
Yuan then took something out of her spatial ring, hanging it over to the young woman.
"This glass jar is capable of holding and preserving the Mountain's Ink. All that must be done is for you to fill it. While you can take some from the surface, the deeper you go-"
"-the stronger the energy. The less I'd need to turn it into Abyssal Ice", Ming Yue finished.
She held the jar in her hands, looking at it.
It wasn't very big, enough to hold a few cups of the stuff. However, it was cold to the touch and when Ming Yue opened it, a chilly fog billowed from the mouth of the jar.
After breakfast, Ming Yue walked out into the pond. The elderly couple followed her wanting to see how she would do. Walking to the edge, she knelt down and dipped her hand in. Shielding it with her energy, she felt the icy sensation gnaw at the barrier, quickly piercing through. Seconds passed before she pulled her hand out.
Her fingers had turned blue, though it slowly recovered to a healthy color.
She looked up at Yuan.
"How long did you dive for?" she asked her.
"Mmm, about an hour I'd say", the elderly woman answered.
"This..."
If it was like this Ming Yue would not get very far. Even if she were to use the Dusk Lily Pin, there was no telling just how deep she could go.
"Why don't you try using me or the old man?"
Suddenly, Xue Yue spoke up, making this suggestion to her. Senior Zhen only grunted before adding on. 2
"Considering us being weapon spirits, I don't think that it's a bad idea. We could certainly take the jar with our energy and go as deep as we could."
The young woman took out both her swords looking at them.
"Are you sure? Won't this damage both of you?" she said.
"We're probably more durable than you. And we're weapon spirits, all we need is time to recover", Xue Yue replied.
Ming Yue thought about it before nodding.
"If we're going to do it, might as well try everything."
She stood back up, holding both swords in her hands. Her aura erupted before honing itself into a thin barrier on her and her weapons.
Having activated Pale Moon, she took a deep breath before taking a step forward and diving in.
