SOMETHING THAT HAD NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE
Iris was staring at the magic stone in her hand when something caught her attention. There was this small flickering thing inside of the stone, and when she looked at it closely, she found out that there was a little flame inside it.
She didn't realize it before, but somehow the flame looked like it was alive, if it made any sense, because right now, Iris could see it was flickering as if it was breathing.
She was fascinated by the sight and forgot about her fear of darkness. She was entranced and realized the little fire grew stronger. The flicker was following her breathing rhythm, but then it became clearer and bigger, as if there was something moving inside, not just breathing.
Iris frowned and then nudged the stone, rolled it on her palm with her finger and a second later, it cracked. "Huh?!" She was terrified to see the crack, because it wasn't supposed to be like that.
A magic stone was not so frail, but it wasn't the sturdiest stone either. Even so, there was no way a nudge would be able to leave a crack on it.
The crack became even bigger, but this time, it looked like there was something from inside that would come out. Iris blinked her eyes to look at it closely, now all of her attention fixed on it.
"How could this be possible…" she muttered under her breath, her mouth went agape to watch the process of hatching.
What is this? Magic stone is some kind of egg?
Iris was puzzled, but she watched a beautiful life come out of the small magic stone. She didn't even realize that she was holding her breath, waiting to see what kind of creature would come out of this small stone.
From the size of it, Iris thought it would be the size of a worm.
But, once the little creature came out of it, she frowned so hard. What was this creature? Was it… a lizard?
The whole body of this baby lizard seemed on fire, the color reddish bright, but at the same time it was almost transparent, you could even see the white veins running through its tiny body.
While Iris was mesmerized by it, the little thing jumped from her palm and for something that was just born, if she could say that, it moved so fast, as it wriggled its tail.
For a moment, Iris was stunned, she watched the little thing move away, deeper into the cave, until she snapped and realized that little thing was a rare fire magic stone! Cane had told her to hold onto it. He even approached her earlier because he wanted to make sure that she still had the stone with her after the troll attack.
"Oh, no!" Iris immediately stood up in panic, because she couldn't afford to lose the little thing. She stood up and hurriedly followed the flickering light that illuminated the little creature's entire body.
It didn't take her long to finally catch up to the little lizard, but now, the little creature hid behind a small crack in the stone wall and wouldn't come out.
"Oh, don't do this to me… come out now, okay?" Iris stretched out her hand, asking the little lizard to move to her palm, but it only tilted its little head. "Come here, little one."
The little lizard blinked its black eyes, dark and shining like a pair of ink drops.
"Come here…" Iris tried to coax this little thing and thought to herself what this creature would eat, but this was the first time she saw a creature like this little lizard, so she didn't have any idea, but even so, she tried to find something in her pocket and found a jerky.
There was no harm in trying, thus she used it as bait and surprisingly, it worked! The little lizard came out of the crack of the stone wall and sniffed the jerky in her palm, as it licked it once, twice and then munched on it.
Iris was in awe. Her eyes widened in disbelief. What was this creature? She really needed to read more books and find out more about the magic stones. She was excited and thrilled to learn new things!
She wondered if anyone had ever heard about something like this? Or did she just witness something that had never happened before?
"Let's show you to the alpha, shall we?" Iris caressed the little lizard's back, as it ate the jerky.
However, when she turned around to go back to where everyone was, she couldn't find the way. Apparently, she went too deep into the cave and because she was too focused on this little lizard, she didn't pay attention to which direction she came from.
To make matters worse, the deeper you got into the cave, the more branched this place would be it seemed.
=========================
"Iris is not here. I thought because both of you are missing, she must be with you." Redmond frowned so hard, as he looked around him.
Hearing this, the rest of the men were alarmed.
"She is not with you, Alpha?" Will asked, he walked closer to them.
"Since when was she missing?" Cane's voice was cold. He looked at them one by one.
"I was the one to wake up first, but I didn't see her and because I didn't see the two of you either, I thought you were together." It was Avid, who answered this for him.0
Silence fell after that, before Redmond cursed out loud and shifted into his beast form to search around the forest, while Avid and Trion followed him to find her around this forest.
She must not be too far, because she wouldn't be able to move as fast as them.
"I will help them to check as well." Will left, following the three of them, so did Ethan.
However, Cane didn't move from his position, as his eyes stayed glued to the cave. Her scent didn't leave a trail from that place, which meant she was still inside.
