TELL ME ABOUT THEIR CONVERSATION
Iris stared into his bottomless eyes, trying to figure out what he was thinking about, but all she could tell was; he was like a calm river, not letting anyone know the constant turbulence underneath its surface.
Cane was planning something, he wanted to bring change and he was already making a move about that, she was pretty sure about it, but because he started from the very bottom to arrange everything, his actions had not alarmed anyone yet.
From the documents that she had translated, she could tell that much. Cane was trying to build connections in the Holy kingdom, but for what?
Needless to say, aside from trading using the magic stone mines in this continent, the two continents were not really on good terms, as those people from across the sea saw them as beasts. Creatures that defied nature because they could take animal form and human form alike.
Some of them even thought they were as low as animals. The last time Serafim visited this continent was fifteen years back.
What was Cane planning with the people from the Holy Kingdom?
Iris couldn't find the answer, but in the end, it was her, who averted her gaze first. She lowered her head to observe the auction below, as she watched them reveal the opening price for a white tiger. It was three hundred gold coins.
Three hundred gold coins?!
Commoners with a family of four could use one gold coin to eat pleasantly for a month, but three hundred gold coins as an opening price for a white tiger? That was too much!
"Is a white tiger that expensive?"
"No, it's not an ordinary white tiger." Redmond nodded toward the stage again and told her to pay close attention.
Right at the same time, the auctioneer drew all of their attention to see what the white tiger could do.
A second later the white tiger shifted into a little boy around the age of five. He looked terrified. The little boy had white hair and fair complexion, he had grey eyes as well. Was he blind? But, when he took in his surroundings with his fearful eyes, Iris knew that he was not.
He was crying, hugging his small body. On the big stage, under the intense gazes of people around him, strangers that wanted their hands on him, it must be so terrifying.
"How can that be?" Iris was stunned. She felt the lizard resting on her shoulder poke its tiny head through her curls.
"That boy is the last diamond white tiger."
"What is that?"
"His tears turn into diamonds."
"Really?" Ethan and Will, who heard that explanation, went to the railing to see whether that was true or not. "I heard something like that, but I thought that was just a myth." Ethan was in disbelief as he watched how three diamonds dropped to the floor. They were so tiny, but still, diamonds.
Even though diamonds were not as expensive as the magic stones, this commodity was widely consumed by people, since everyone could use it, unlike the magic stones, which were only useful to the magic users and healers that could find some use with them.
"How come they are almost extinct?" Ethan asked. The four of them leaned toward the railing, while the price skyrocketed to two thousand gold coins in no time.
"Are you stupid or what? Don't you know about any news outside of the Howling Wolf pack?" Redmond shot the gamma a disdainful glare.
"Oh, thanks to your great alpha, I know nothing except for the dungeon and his torturing room." Ethan's voice was chilly, he looked at Redmond with killing intent, while Will, who was standing between them, raised both of his hands.
"Woah… calm down you two…" Will couldn't stop feeling his head ache, always trying to be the intermediary between the two of them. Why did he have to find himself in the middle of these two? He shot Redmond a warning glare, while he pressed his palm against Ethan's chest, to prevent him from attacking the warrior first.
Meanwhile, Iris had moved to the side, she was afraid she might get implicated if a fight broke loose.
However, Redmond shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly, as if there was nothing important to mention here. "Of course, the diamond white tigers are extinct now. They need to make them cry to get the diamonds and most of the time, they get carried away and kill them, especially when they are stubborn enough not to drop a single tear."
He answered him lightly, continuing the conversation from earlier, as if he had never provoked the gamma in the first place.
How shameless this guy was…
"As far as I know, he is the last diamond white tiger, because his mother died a year ago. His mother was under the possession of the Red Claw pack. Someone must have kidnapped him to be sold here."
At this point, the price had reached ten thousand gold coins. It was an enormous amount of money, but knowing this boy could make more in the long run, it seemed to be a good investment for those twisted minded people.
"Twenty thousand gold coins!"2
Someone shouted from the second tier, fourth cubicle to their left, this person stood near the railing, thus people could see him.
But when Cane heard this voice, he walked toward the railing as well. His eyes narrowed at the bidder and the man beside him.
"Hha! He must have heard about this tiger." Redmond folded his arms in front of his chest. He seemed to know that man too.
"Do you know who he is?" Will asked.
"He is the crown prince. He started to engage in the black market two years ago," Redmond scoffed. "That stupid brat."
And aside from Redmond, it seemed Cane also recognized him, despite the mask that he was wearing. He then waved his hand to Iris to come over.
"Can you read what they are talking about?" Cane asked her. He couldn't hear from this distance, but Iris must be able to read their conversation, as long as she could see their lips.
