TRIGGERED
Redmond took them to the back of the stage, where he told the very same woman that he met at the entrance that they won the entry to the black market and showed her their number.
They used the same language, it was the language of the Holy Kingdom. Iris and Cane were perplexed, why would they use this language instead?
Meanwhile, Ethan didn't understand at all. He was not privileged enough to receive such high education.
"Over here," Redmond said, as he followed the woman in red dress into a tunnel, where every few steps they would find a brazier, thus it was a little bit hot here and even though it was a tunnel, it was so bright, as the shadows of the fire danced on the walls.
The woman and Redmond walked side by side, behind them was Iris and Cane, while Ethan walked at the rear, he looked around this place, frowning unhappily, this place made him depressed, he didn't like it at all.
Even though it was so bright here, he could feel the somber mood.
The five of them walked for a good five minutes before the woman led them to a black door at the end of the tunnel. She produced a set of keys in her hand and chose one from them to open the door.
It was a small room without any window. There was only a bed at one side, but nothing else. The three stoned walls around this room were the color of black. It was weird to see these black colored stones. Was that charcoal?
Iris touched it when they entered the room, but she immediately withdrew her hand because she felt like the stone electrocuted her. This small gesture didn't go unnoticed by Cane, yet he said nothing.
"I will return twenty minutes from now," the woman said to Redmond in Andel language and left them there. She actually locked the door from outside.
"Hey! Did she just lock us in here?!" Ethan was alarmed and tried to twist the doorknob, but it was indeed locked.
"Oh, shut up. What? Are you afraid of being locked? She will return in twenty minutes." Redmond rolled his eyes to see how Ethan overreacted.
For Redmond, this situation was nothing, but for Ethan, it was very disturbing. It triggered something inside him. He became restless, as he couldn't stop pacing around and tapping his foot against the floor.
Right. He was having a flashback of his life when he was in the dungeon, being locked in this place brought back so many memories and miseries to him.
He looked at the door again and again, as if waiting for someone to come and drag him out to be tortured, to be humiliated. His heart beat so fast as his breathing turned labored.
Cane saw this and understood what Ethan was feeling, he didn't know that this place would be like this and Ethan would have such a strong reaction, if he had known, he would have sent him instead of Will earlier.
"Ethan," Cane called him, to which he lifted his head and looked at the alpha, but his eyes were clouded. "Nothing will happen. It's okay."
Ethan gritted his teeth, he was trying to gather his senses and fight this feeling, but it was not easy.
On the other hand, Redmond read the situation and it seemed he understood right away as he stopped taunting the gamma finally.
"Okay," Ethan said through his gritted teeth, he lowered his head and looked at his feet, but he couldn't stop shaking. He would endure it for the alpha's sake.
Knowing that Ethan could burst out at any moment, Cane immediately approached the bald man, who was sitting on the edge of his shabby bed. His eyes were covered by a piece of cloth that was tied behind his head. Was he blind?
"I am here to get the entry," Cane said, he didn't waste his time.
The man beckoned him to come closer and stretched out his hand. He looked no older than forty, but his figure looked so pitiful.
He was so skinny like a dried tree and his skin was so coarse.
Cane put his hand on his as he pulled him closer and lifted his sleeve, he caressed his arm from his wrist to his elbow a few times until a bright yellow light appeared from his palm.
On the other hand, Iris was staring at Cane and Ethan back and forth, she could feel how restless the gamma was and how he was about to erupt because of the overwhelming feelings that he felt right now.
Iris didn't like seeing him like this, she could almost feel the pain that radiated through his body. And without a second thought, she grabbed his hand and squeezed it lightly, but it was only enough to get his attention, as he tilted his head and looked at her.
"Do you want to hold it?" Iris showed her lizard to him, which perched on her forefinger, blinking its tiny eyes. Its body was still reddish, almost transparent with white veins running underneath the flimsy skin.
Ethan furrowed his brows. "No." He didn't know why Iris wanted him to hold that little creature.
"Oh." Iris was at a loss. "This little lizard makes me feel comfortable, maybe it can give you comfort too," she tried to explain.
Ethan looked at her as if saying; you are weird… but he didn't voice it.1
On the other hand, the bald man stopped what he was doing and tilted his head toward Iris' voice.
Out of the blue, he talked in Andel language. "Are you a magic user, girl?"
Iris, who didn't know that he was talking to her, didn't pay attention, but it was Redmond, who answered it for her.
"No, she is not a magic user. She is a runt," he replied bluntly, as usual, he didn't choose his words wisely.
"No way…" the bald man muttered to himself and then talked something under his breath, as if he was having a conversation with himself, but then he resumed what he was doing to Cane.
