I NEED YOUR MATE TO FIND IT
Cane pushed Iris' body against his, so she could lean on him instead of being so taut and hurting herself. He knew that she was still in pain learning how to ride a horse all day the day before, thus it wouldn't help her or him if she kept being so tense.
On the other hand, Iris licked her lips at the gesture, she was unsure if this was alright, but then when she let her weight fall on him, he didn't say anything, even when she wriggled her body to find a comfortable position, Cane still said nothing.
This made Iris smile, she could finally relax and not dread their long journey back to the Arleen city. Actually, this was way more comfortable than riding with Redmond, because she wouldn't be afraid of falling if she felt sleepy, since Cane's strong arms would keep her in place.
However, before they could reach the exit gates, someone blocked their path and made their horses almost run into him.
Cane didn't pull the horse to a stop until it was so close to that man, as if he would really run him over, which caused him to tumble back and fall on his butt.
"Alpha Cane! You are so ruthless!" Lou grumbled, as he stood up and rubbed his back. His butt hurt, but once he faced the alpha, he was all smiles. "Long time no see, Alpha."
Lou grinned from ear to ear, as he glanced at Iris, who was sitting on top of the horse. Cane's body towered above hers, making the stark difference between them look very clear. Iris looked so small compared to the alpha.
"I thought you wanted to get the Asturi stem. I waited for you, but you didn't come, so I humbled myself to come looking for you."
Lou was still wearing his red cloak and looked very dandy, if only he was wearing a dress and had long hair, he surely would look even prettier than the queen herself.
"Scram!" Cane glared at him and made the horse raise its front legs, as if about to kick away the annoying man.
He was not a shifter, so if the horse really kicked him, he would suffer serious injuries. However, despite knowing that, he still stood in front of them with his brilliant smile, which Redmond found annoying.
Redmond didn't like this man at all, ever since he met him for the first time when he went to the Rosantine guild with Mason.
"Ck, ck." Lou clicked his tongue. The alpha didn't even get down from his horse when he talked to him, making the respected guild master look like a peasant.
Fine.
Lou was very curious about that girl with auburn hair, thus he couldn't help but lower his ego. And when he learned that the stupid crown prince had failed to bring her to him, he went there by himself.
But, this alpha didn't give him face at all and acted so arrogantly. If this was any other day, he wouldn't let just anyone treat him like this.
"Can't we talk over dinner? I have a jar of good wine, you must try our Karam wine first before you leave. You will not be able to find it anywhere."
This time, Lou didn't talk in Kars, but he used this continent's language.
"Let's go, there is no need to talk to him. He is a swindler," Redmond said begrudgingly, as he moved his horse away, but to their surprise, the alpha agreed to that.
"Okay." And after saying that, he made the horse turn around, toward the black market, and rode away.
Will didn't expect this, but he followed his alpha immediately, while Redmond grumbled under his breath. He didn't have any other option but to follow as well, leaving Lou alone behind.
"Wait! Is there no one willing to give me a lift?" Lou was gobsmacked by their rudeness. "Fine! What a bunch of annoying shifters! They really lack humanity!"
It didn't take long before Lou arrived as well, he was riding a dainty white horse, which only made him look even more extravagant in his red cloak. He nimbly got down before one of his subordinates took the horse away.
The sight of it made Will and Redmond cringe. Didn't the rumors say that the Karam people were barbaric? What was with him? Was he an exception?
"Come inside!" Lou said cheerfully, waving his hand to make them follow him into the house, as if he was not cursing along the way from the exit gates to here, because they abandoned him. "Bring our best wine for our guests!"
Cane helped Iris to get down from the horse. The only reason he agreed to come here was because Iris told him about the mines behind that door. She said there was a mine filled with a lot of water magic stones inside.
They went into the house and sat down in the waiting room, it was similar to the one from yesterday when Cane had to wait for Lou with Alan.
"I want to see the Asturi stem first." Cane got down to business once they were inside the house. He didn't even sit down, as he stood behind Iris' chair. His domineering aura filled the room with tension in no time.
"You are very impatient, aren't you?" Lou chuckled, but when no one laughed with him, he coughed lightly and ordered his subordinate to bring over the item.
"What kind of pet do you want me to get?" Cane asked. He was not here to drink with him. Moreover, there was another matter that he had to get done.
"Lil Thing!" Lou said with an exaggerated sigh. "This animal went into that room a week ago and refuses to come out."0
What nonsense. How could a room with its door sealed by magic be entered freely? Both of them knew how ridiculous the story was, but Lou was so shameless to insist on that story line.
"That's why, I need your mate to find it."
"If even you can't find it, what makes you think she can?"
