Iris felt like they were robbing Lou by taking these many stones from his place, more so she was not used to acting like this, thus she felt guilty, adding that to the fact Cane didn't show any indication that he would search for the pet.

She tugged at Cane's sleeve. "Don't you feel like we are stealing these stones?" She asked hesitantly.

"No, this is an abandoned cave," Cane replied simply. "Find more."

Iris grimaced, but she was curious enough to see how Lou would react when he learned that Cane robbed him right under his nose, under his own roof.

All her life, she had struggled to survive under her brother's torture and tried to help the slaves as much as she could, but she didn't know you could fool others like this with wordplay and Cane was really good at it.

Oh, the more Iris saw it, the more Cane seemed undaunted and even a little bit… brazen.

"What are you waiting for?" Cane frowned when Iris looked at him intensely, deep in her thought, until she didn't realize that she had been gawking at the alpha.

Iris hurriedly lowered her head and then moved away from him to find more stones hidden inside the rocks.

An important thing that you had to pay attention to when you were digging out the magic stones was; you couldn't do it carelessly, because the magic stone was a frangible item, once your tool hit it and it cracked, it would turn into something invaluable.

Therefore, it took time to get the magic stones out, let alone the effort to find the exact location. But, Iris could do it without any problem.

As Iris moved away to find more stones, Cane stood up all of a sudden when he heard something approaching them.

The sound of its footsteps echoed in this cave and from how the ground was shaking a little bit, you would know the creature approaching you was big enough to create such vibration just by moving.

Iris seemed to feel the ground shaking as well, as she retraced and stood next to Cane. "What happened? Is something happening?" She looked at his grim expression.

"Stay back," Cane said curtly, he pushed Iris aside and handed the bundle filled with magic stones to her.

After that, he shifted into his black wolf and stood right in front of Iris. His wolf was bigger than any other shifter because he was the alpha, the height of this wolf even reached Iris' shoulders. It was twice her size. She could literally ride him.

Well, she wouldn't dare to think about that…

The black wolf stood guard in front of Iris, as its golden eyes looked intensely at a certain point behind the stalactites. A low growl could be heard rumbling out of its throat, a warning.

Iris couldn't hear that, but she could see how the wolf was ready to tear its opponent apart once it felt danger approaching them.

However, after they waited for a bit, the ground stopped shaking and instead of that, Cane heard a soft whiny sound from behind the stalagmites.

Iris frowned because the ground stopped shaking, but she didn't have any idea about the whiny sound. As far she could see, the black wolf moved toward a certain point, where he had been glaring at.

Her heart beat so fast, because she was afraid something bad would happen or they would meet some ferocious monsters.

Iris tried to crane her neck, but she couldn't see things here, aside from the light from the luminous night pearls that scattered around the cave, there was no source of light here, thus it was rather dim and to be left alone like this, made Iris conscious of her surroundings.

"Alpha?" Iris tried to call him. She was upset because she couldn't hear a thing. Was there a fight? Were there roars? A growl? Was there a commotion?

But if that was the case, the old man, who was standing near the door would come to check, right? Or he went out and left them here?

"Alpha?" Iris tried to call him again, but there was no way for her to know even if the black wolf replied to her.

And after some time, Iris braced herself and walked closer toward where Cane had gone, hugging the bundle of water magic stones in her arms. She looked vigilant, as she tried to gauge the situation.

There were a lot of stalagmites here, thus it obscured her vision.

Not too far, she saw a river and the black wolf, it was Cane's beast, but he stayed still for a bit, as if puzzled and then shifted back into his human form.

Seeing that, Iris assumed they were no longer in danger, therefore, she approached him.

"What happened?" Iris followed his line of sight and gasped at what she saw. "What is that?" She blinked her eyes in disbelief.

Right in front of her was a polar bear, as big as Cane, its fur was pure white with emerald eyes. A golden necklace hung around its thick neck.1

"Is that the pet that he wants?" Cane knitted his brows. "Lil Thing?" He scoffed disdainfully. "That crazy guild master…"

Which part of that thing was little? Even its paw was the size of Iris' face.

Cane was sure this big fur ball was the pet that Lou had called Lil Thing, because of the golden necklace. Who would be crazy enough to give an expensive golden necklace to a random creature. Moreover, buried in its fur was a thumb sized ruby stone.

However, it was not the only thing that Cane noticed, but also the fact that this creature was sitting leisurely against the stalagmite and crushed the stalactite above him, as it ate the rock.

"That bear is eating the water magic stone," Iris said.

Only after she mentioned it, did Cane notice the shards of magic stones.

But then, the bear tossed the piece of stalactite away and looked at Iris with interest and moved lazily toward her.
