The situation in the front yard was easily resolved after Princess Osana managed to tame the Crown Prince. From what rumors said, Alan was even more respectful toward his father's little sister than the King himself.

Iris glanced at Ethan a few times, but the Gamma didn't even show a shred of fear. He was at peace and even hummed a song while mumbling some lyrics here and there. It seemed he had come to terms that he wouldn't make it back to their pack, or even to the ceremony.

Actually, Iris wanted to ask Cane about this and what his plan was, whether he would save his gamma or he would accept the verdict without a fight. However, even though they were together on their journey to the capital city, they didn't exchange a word during that time.

And right now, it was not the right time for her to mention anything about it.

The palace was a very different place from the two pack houses that she lived in. This was way more grandiose and regal, as if every inch of it held power that you could never imagine. This place demanded respect, honor and reverence. How could a place hold so much importance…

Iris was in awe, but the magnificent place didn't seem to affect Cane and his gamma, as they treated this place so casually, especially the Alpha, he walked into the main hall, as if he owned this place.

Even though he bowed his head toward the King, it didn't make him any lower than the sovereign. He knew how to carry himself with dignity, even when the situation was not in his favor and the odds were against him.

Meanwhile, Princess Osana went to sit on the King's left side, leaving Lou standing next to Cane. Laluna stood next to Iris when Vemion walked up to the King, telling him that he had arranged the accommodation for everyone in Cane's party and the preparations for the ceremony were almost done.

"Is it more important than my decree?" The King scoffed. Alan was about to chime in, but he swallowed his words when he saw Princess Osana glare at him, shutting his complaint down with her eyes.

"Yes," Cane replied truthfully, which caused a round of gasps from everyone present there.

Aside from them, there were the King's own advisor and five men, who were the King's right hand men, also the Royal Beta, who was sitting on the King's right side.

Cane's reply was so bold as it was a little bit inappropriate to say there was something more important than your sovereign, as the King's word was above anything else.

"What's more important than a decree from the King!?" King Aeon slammed his hand against his armrest, anger emitted from his whole being, which made the room fall into a dead silence, one could even hear a drop of a needle inside this main hall.

Iris jolted when she felt the rush of enmity and she felt afraid for Cane's sake, yet the Alpha didn't even flinch when he faced the wrath of the King. His voice was so calm when he replied.

"The Riverside pack has been hosting a sorcerer that wields dark magic. A few weeks ago, a lycan was spotted in the Goffa mountain," Cane answered smoothly, bringing up the lycan first to deflect the suspicion toward him.

Another gasp could be heard inside the main hall, as they looked at him in disbelief.

Of course, they heard those rumors, but because the King had been ignoring the news, they didn't have any other choice, but to never mention anything about this.

However, Cane came and talked about it straight to the King's face. At this point, how could King Aeon avoid the topic?

Seeing how King Aeon couldn't find a word to refute him, Cane took this opportunity to press this matter further.

"My King, you are wise and fair. I have punished the people that touched dark magic, isn't it only right to call Alpha Gill from the Riverside pack to question the activities of dark magic in his pack? I heard many rumors about it on my way here."
