By the time Cane mentioned about the Asturi stem and the monster in the north, he knew what he was up to. He had discovered about what he had done in the north and now he was threatening him slyly. 2

At this point, neither Alan nor the king knew the Asturi stem that they were looking for was already in Cane's hand.

The king could see the subtle hint that Cane gave him, but Alan, of course, he was oblivious of all that. He was too mad because Cane talked about meaningless thing.

Lou, who was being forgotten, stared at Cane, he touched his chin and tried to think about what the alpha was trying to hinting.

However, before Cane could continue to speak, he felt Iris held his hand. She clasped his right hand with both of hers, which surprised him because she usually had never taken the initiative to touch him.

Cane turned her head, he looked at her questioningly, but her eyes fixed on their entwined fingers. Her little face looked very serious, which made him frowned. What she was doing?

But, Cane's attention brought back to the problem at hand when the king finally decided to take Ethan for a home arrest, instead of taking him to the dungeon. He did this to placate Cane, because he would have a long conversation with his nephew regarding what he knew about the Asturi stem and how far his investigation had gone.

No matter what, the king feared the north would rebel. After all, they were the only defense against the vicious monsters.

Not to mention, king Aeon could see Kade would grill him with this issue and wouldn't let it slide like they did to the rumor about the dark magic.

Yet, Alan was furious to hear that. That was not what he expected. "HOUSE ARREST?!" He stood up from his seat again and looked at his father infuriatedly. "Father! How can you say yourself as a fair king?! You should hold up justice for your son!"

This time, it was princess Osana, who had enough with the crown prince. "Someone come! Take the crown prince to his palace! He needs to rest!"

"No! I want justice! How can you put him in house arrest when that mutt almost killed the crown prince of this kingdom!?"

"How could he kill you when there were a lot of people around you!" Princess Osana countered. "Will you continue to humiliate yourself by saying you can't handle one on one fight?!"

Cane narrowed his eyes at princess Osana's reaction, as he calculated her involvement with all the king's scheme.

"Aunt!" Alan cried, but seeing the look on princess Osana's face, he needed to swallow his complain. In the end, he still had some dignity left, as he walked out of the main hall by himself. However, when he walked past Cane, he spoke in vicious tone. "This is not over yet."

Yet, the alpha treated him like air, he didn't even spare him a glance, as his eyes fixed on the king. There was a tacit understanding between them, as the king tried to gauge how much Cane knew about all of this.

"There are a few important issues come up! We will hold a meeting and I wish to see you as well, alpha Cane!"

Cane nodded respectfully.

House arrest. At the very least, Ethan would only get bored for not being able to step out of his bedroom, but it didn't mean the gamma's head was already spared, it was only a temporary solution, the end result would be determined after this.

Cane looked at the king and accepted his hateful glare.

Messing up the already bad relationship between the king and the north was the step that Cane took, as he would sow more discord between them.

This time, princess Osana stepped forward and talked to the king respectfully, as she officially introduced Lou.

"This is the merchant from Rosantine guild that I have mentioned the other day," princess Osana said, as he opened her arm to Lou. "He wants to invest on the research of magical devices."

Only then the king paid attention to the man in red cloak beside Cane. "Hm, so you are the merchant from Rosantine guild?"

"Yes, my king, it is my honor to be invited to the palace and meet you in person, thanks to princess Osana."

At this point, Cane had stopped listening to his surrounding, neither the business that Lou had in the capital city interested him, because he had different goal to be here, thus whatever this eccentric merchant wanted, had nothing to do with him.

Right now, Cane was staring at his mate, he squeezed her hand that clasped his lightly to get her attention.
