DAMN YOU, CANE!
There is enough love in his heart to love every single piece of you. 0
For the most part, it will not show through romantic gestures.
It will creep through his subtle attempts.
It will be loud in his consistency,
And it will present itself as loyalty.
Many men are lovers who have no clue about romanticism.

A relationship was like holding sand in your hand, you should hold it delicately, so it wouldn't slip through your fingers…
And that was how Iris felt, the way she hugged Cane. She felt he was going to slip through her fingers. His sanity…
Somehow, Iris knew the dark wisp wouldn't hurt her, it didn't, because she had touched it the first time she noticed it and there was nothing happened to her, thus she didn't think twice when she rushed over and held Cane.
The alpha looked like he was going to fall apart and the sight scared her.
Iris used to see Cane as someone that wouldn't be bothered even if the sky were going to collapse, someone, who would calm enough to meet plot after plot, because he had his own scheme and had everything handled, under his control.
Therefore, the sight of Cane was so vulnerable like this made her heart shivered.
"Cane, it's okay… it's disappeared…" Iris said in soothing tone, as she watched the dark wisp gradually disappeared. "It's fine now."
Both of them didn't know how it worked, but now they convinced, Iris's presence helped with the disappearance of the dark wisp, just like how she calmed down the lycan and made it more bearable for Cane to go through the new moon, thus the dark wisp must have something to do with the cursed beast.
Iris caressed his back, but he didn't say anything, thus she tried to free herself from him, but Cane held her so close, he practically glued to her with his warm breath against her neck, his lips on her skin.
Seeing him like this, Iris stayed for as long as it needed, she didn't say anything and both of them engulfed in this silence.
Gradually, the dark sky turned a little bit brighter on the east, as the sun was about to rise, it was a beautiful sight to see and Iris wanted him to see it.
"Alpha…" Iris patted his back. Did he fall asleep? "Look, it's a new day."
It's a new day and a new hope…

"Miss, you need to wake up, you need to eat your lunch, you have skipped your breakfast, I don't want you to get sick," Hanna said, she was trying to wake Iris up, since ten minutes ago.
But, she kept brushing off her hand and curled herself inside the blanket, if it was not for her health and her unique condition, as a runt, Hanna would let her sleep a little bit longer, seeing how tired she was, but she couldn't do that.
"Miss, you need to wake up now," Hanna said again with stern voice, though she realized Iris wouldn't be able to hear that. "Miss!" she shook her body a little bit hard, until Iris opened her eyes sleepily.
"Five minutes…"
"No, you need to eat and then you can fall asleep again after taking a walk."
Iris pursed her lips to see how stern Hanna's expression was. Her head was throbbing painfully, she didn't get enough sleep last night.
She couldn't imagine how Cane was. It would be three days, he didn't fall asleep at all. How he could manage that and was still alive?
Iris pushed herself from the bed and stretched out her arms to hug Hanna, which made her giggled. She still acted like she was a little child some time and this warmed her heart.
"I am glad you are okay," Iris murmured sleepily and Hanna kissed her cheek.
Will found her in that catastrophe and took her to the warrior quarter, where she stayed there with the other warrior, while he went to check on Ethan.
But, before Will returned, the alpha went to the warrior quarter and told Hanna to be with Iris. She stayed with her missy until she fell asleep, yet when she returned, Will had gone to another mission. She didn't have time to see him and Will didn't find her before he left.
"I am also glad that you are fine. Now, eat your lunch, okay?"
"Ugh… I am sleepy." Iris barely could remember how she ended up on the bed, she remembered after watching the sunrise with Cane, she rested her head and fell asleep. It was very comfortable and she couldn't resist her sleepiness.
It must be Cane, who had carried her to the bed and tucked her in, or else, she would have slept on the floor.

"The alpha is here, master," Sabian informed Lou. "He is alone."
There was a flickered of dissatisfaction in his eyes when Lou heard that. Cane really didn't bring his mate with him and insisted with his lie to say that Iris was sick when she was perfectly fine. After all, the three of them had met last night.
"Okay," Lou said callously, but he didn't get up from his bed, as he stabbed the grapefruit with fork and put it into his mouth indolently.
This sight made Sabian furrowed his brows and grew anxious because he knew what his master was up to. "Master, don't you want to meet with him?"
"Nah, he can wait," Lou said nonchalantly. "I am not really interested to meet him without the red hair."
If Iris was not there, why would he want to meet with Cane in hurry? He could wait for another minute… or hour.
However, Lou should know by now that the alpha didn't play in his little, petty game, because five minutes later, a guard rushed into the room and reported what Cane had said.
"The alpha will leave if you don't appear within two minutes, master," he said in cautious tone. "He said he doesn't have time to wait."
"Damn you, Cane!"
