Because of the monster attack during the new year party, there were many people died and most of them left their children behind. 0

When some of the children was lucky enough to have their other relatives to take care of them, some of them was not that lucky, as they had no one.

Capital city was a large city, where many people came and go and most of the citizen was shifter or merchant, while the rest was a mixed of any other kind.

With the fact the shifters were the origin citizen in this capital city, thus most of the shifter children had another family to take care of them, the merchants were not, therefore when they died, their children had no one to rely on.

In that case, prince Kellan stepped up and used his own treasure to build another building for the orphan children and now the construction was underway. He would be in the city often nowadays.

It was also him, who had reached out to Cane and offer his help, once he heard about the new duty the alpha had received from his father.

For Cane, there was no reason for him to turn down the offer. Seeing how his father and alpha Derick from Celestial Moon pack had supported him when he was a crown prince and more so, because he had an impeccable image among the people, it would help a lot with his good reputation and how people loved him.

"It's nice of you to help those children," Cane said, he kept holding Iris's hand under the table, while she stayed out of the conversation between him and prince Kellan.

"It's something trivial. It's an obligation for a sovereign to help their people. My father is a little bit strange to want to cover up the whole thing." He heard about how his father had killed the guards that witnessed the first attack.

On the other hand, Cane didn't have any objection with his statement. It could be said he was the most decent person in the royal family.

Cane glanced at Iris, who was exceptionally quiet and looked very anxious, as she kept her head low. Something was amiss with the way she behaved.

Not long after that, the food arrived and they enjoyed their lunch with a light conversation, mostly prince Kellan would tell Cane about what was going on in the city and how the citizen opinion about a certain thing.

Basically, the prince guided the alpha to know more and learn about how the citizen looked like, and gave him a few suggestions regarding his task from the king.

Meanwhile, Cane listened carefully, asked a few things and most of them said nothing. He was not a chatter and was an observer, thus he processed every information and tried to deduct what the necessary steps that he had to take later.

He had his own plan that he didn't share.

If his father trusted this prince and supported him thoroughly, Cane needed time to build his trust on prince Kellan. He wouldn't follow his father's steps blindly.

In the middle of the conversation, Iris put down her spoon and tugged on Cane's robe to get his attention. "I want to go to the bathroom," she said in whisper.

"Ask Redmond to go with you."

Iris nodded and then stood up to walk out of the room, while prince Kellan followed her with his eyes and this didn't go unnoticed by Cane.

Prince Kellan realized this and played it off. "She is very quiet. She doesn't change at all." He smiled at Cane, acted normal.

People would say that when they met Iris for the first time, but when you got closer to her, you would know how she could be a chatter. For that, Cane knew well enough.

But, he said nothing and made prince Kellan assumed he silently agreed with his statement.

Meanwhile, when Iris walked out of the room, Redmond stopped bickering with Ethan and followed her. The two of them had been bickering as soon as Cane and Iris entered the room, thus the other warriors could sigh in relief as the peace returned and they didn't need to get a headache upon hearing them. They argued for the sake of arguing.

"Where is the bathroom?" Iris asked, her voice was so small and her face was exceptionally pale.

"Follow me," Redmond said. He glanced at Iris and tapped her shoulder. "Are you okay? Why are you so pale? You don't like the food?"

Iris just waved her hand and said nothing, thus Redmond didn't make a fuss, thinking she was only her usual self, since she often looked pale in this kind of weather.

Once inside the bathroom, Iris couldn't hold it back any longer, as she vomited. She regurgitated all the food she had eaten and couldn't stop until she felt her stomach hurt and her throat was burning, while outside of the door, Redmond kept knocking, asking whether she was alright, because he could hear it.

However, Iris was too occupied with her own pain, as she bent her body and tried to keep her hair from being dirty. She didn't even notice when Redmond was trying to tear down the door.

"Hey! Open this damn door!" Redmond kicked the door and he managed to break the lock in his third attempt and watched Iris in her wretched condition. "What the hell is happening with you?"

Iris waved her hand, in attempt to tell him to go away because she didn't want him to see her like this, still, Redmond approached her and knelt down beside her, as he gathered her hair and helped to massage her shoulder and neck.

"Did you eat something wrong? Or…" his voice trailed off. "Are you pregnant?"

Fortunately, Iris didn't see him, thus she couldn't read what he had said, because there was no way she was pregnant right now with Cane's condition.

However, Redmond's imagination was so wild. He would clarify this with Cane.
