JEWELRY STORE
'I will see you soon.'2
Iris really didn't wish to see him again. She didn't want to meet with the prince, but she was clueless about why she felt this way, neither she could voice out what she was thinking, thus she smiled politely and nodded.
Subconsciously, she hid herself behind Cane's back, where she felt a little bit of comfort. People would think she was only timid, not actually scared of the crippled prince, who couldn't do any harm on her.
After a few exchanged words, prince Kellan's party left the restaurant. A warrior that pushed his wheelchair helped him to enter the carriage and they left.
During that time, Ethan and Redmond bickered again about some random things, while Iris stared at her shoes and Cane fixed his eyes on her.
"Let's go," Cane said, as he took her hand and they went out. Ethan and Redmond followed them, squabbling about the tea that he preferred. They seemed wouldn't stop bickering as long as they were together.
The alpha helped Iris to mount the horse, but this time, he gave the rein to her, which made her tilted her head to look at him.
"Try," Cane said curtly. He wanted Iris to learn how to ride and he used this opportunity to teach her.
"I don't think I can…" Iris mumbled.
"Try."
This warhorse was so big, she felt intimidated by it, yet with the thought that Cane was right behind her and he wouldn't let anything bad happened, make her willing to try.
The horse moved and her body was stiffened, but because of the current task at her hand right now, she could ignore people's eyes that stared curiously at her and Cane. She also forgot about the tension that she felt because of the meeting with prince Kellan, as she was so focus to get the horse move and control the direction.
Cane placed her hands on her waist, helping her to relax, but more so as a gesture of protection.
"See?! I told you, she only needs a good teacher to teach her how to ride. You are so suck!" Ethan pointed his finger at Iris, who was taking the rein of the horse, taunting Redmond.
"That's because I have taught her the basic skill!" Redmond scoffed derisively. "Do you really think she can suddenly ride a horse?!"
"Oh, shut up and admit your incompetency!"
And just like always, both of them had a lot of energy to squabble along the way, while the alpha and luna in front of them paid no mind to them and the people stared at the two with questioning look, wondering why the two warriors seemed like they were going to kill each other off, instead of being quiet, like any other warriors, who guarded their master.
After they rode for two hours and because there was nothing much to see, since the situation in the city was still tensed, many people hid inside their house because of the cold weather and scared of the rumor of the black magic, the citizen was afraid they would catch the same curse like princess Osana did, they finally stopped in front of a jewelry store, where they dismounted their horses and three young boys approached them to get the horses to the stable.
Iris was surprised Cane took her to a jewelry store. Would he buy her something? But, Cane didn't look like a person, who would splurge on something like this, especially to a woman.
However, what the reason he took her here? It would be more ridiculous to think that Cane wanted jewelry for himself.
Iris glanced at Cane, but the alpha didn't show any expression on his face, thus it was hard to tell what was in his mind. Iris didn't think there would be a person in this realm, who could figure out the way his mind was working.
They went inside and Iris could see a lot of beautiful jewelries and gems on display, as a few people greeted them, but Cane walked past them all and went to the back door of this jewelry store, where they meet with Will, who had been waiting for them.
As expected, Cane had a plan under his sleeve again whenever he did something. Iris knew there was no way he would come here to shop.
"Long time no see, Will," Iris greeted Will, in which he only nodded and smiled politely. He looked so different. He almost looked like Ethan when she saw him for the first time in the main hall, after he was being locked away for days, but there was something more about him. "Hanna has been trying to reach out to you. She said you don't return her letter."
Iris was unaware of what had happened to Will, so did the rest of them. It was only Cane, who had the full picture about the assault. Even after Will heard princess Osana's current predicament, it didn't improve his mental state at all.
"I will write to her."
That was the only answer that Will gave to Iris and when she was about to ask him again, Cane pulled her closer to him. Iris raised her head and looked at the alpha.
"Watch your steps," Cane warned her simply.
They were walking in the back alley of the jewelry shop, it was a narrow alley and there were few empty bottles of alcohol scattered on the snow covered ground. Iris could stumble on one of them.
A moment of disruption was enough for Will to move to the back of this small party, walking behind them all, thus Iris couldn't continue with the conversation.
The jewelry shop was only a façade, what they actually sold was magic stone, in which was provided by the Howling Wolf pack.
This place also the place, where the spies used when they gathered information in the capital city.
"We will stay the night here," Cane told Iris, as he opened the door to a warm lodge.
