KILLING INTENT

"You need to stop your gamma! How dare he hurt a member of the royal family!" Corry shouted at Cane once he saw the alpha walk toward them.

The beautiful garden was ruined and the fountain had been destroyed, leaving water to splash everywhere. The once velvety, lush lawn was now uneven, full of patches, while in the middle of that chaos was a brown wolf, none other than Ethan's, growling viciously at five other warriors.

Even though he was outnumbered, not even once did the brown wolf back down.

On the side, Alan was crying pitifully, cursing, shouting to Alpha Gallot's warriors to kill his gamma. He sustained grave injuries, severely bleeding from the deep wounds on his stomach.

If it was not for Will, who stopped Ethan in the nick of time, this problematic Crown Prince would have died by now.

However, Will was not in good condition either, he suffered severe injuries as well.

"How will you explain this to the King!?" Corry approached Cane, because he didn't say anything. He just stared at the situation before his eyes, calculating everything. "Hey! Can't you hear me?!"

"Scram!" Cane snarled at him, which made the advisor take two steps back. He was scared and for a moment, he was stupefied by the intense anger in his eyes. He even looked scarier than the King himself.

The aura around him shifted and Corry found himself unable to look him straight in the eyes. In the end, the old advisor shrunk back and walked back to the Crown Prince, who was still cursing and yelling.

"KILL HIM! KILL THAT BASTARD! I WILL MAKE SURE MY FATHER KNOWS ABOUT THIS! HE WILL SHRED YOU TO PIECES!"

That was right. Ethan could be killed on the offense of trying to murder the Crown Prince. The problem was; that was true. Ethan indeed wanted to kill him.

The brown wolf snarled ferociously when one of the warriors made his move on him, trying to tackle him down. Ethan dodged swiftly and clawed his back instead.

He was in his battle mode and every move that he made was deadly. The experience of battle and suffering that he had gone through couldn't even be compared to that of these warriors, thus he easily overpowered them, even though he was outnumbered.

Not to mention them, even Jace would be hard pressed if he had to fight him one on one, though he was a rank higher than him.

"Back off!" Cane glared at the Moon Dew pack's warriors that surrounded his gamma.

All of them turned their heads briefly toward him, but then sensing the alpha from the Howling Wolf pack was even scarier than this unhinged wolf, they backed off.

Cane took a step closer to Ethan, and looked him dead in the eyes. "Shift."

The air felt so heavy, as the tension was so thick at this very moment. The onlookers even stopped breathing for a second, waiting for what would happen. Would the crazy wolf shift back? Just by a single order?

Even the Crown Prince forgot to curse. He sat down on the ground, like a pitiful man-child, staring at the tense scene before his eyes.

"Shift!" This time, Cane didn't sound like he was telling him to shift, as it sounded more like a direct command. His voice was laced with authority and he didn't hold back when using his alpha's voice, causing the brown wolf to whimper.

Yet, his gamma was still stubborn, his eyes dead set on Alan. His killing intent could be felt by everyone present there.

"SHIFT!" Cane's voice hardened. He literally roared at him. His anger suffused in the air, pressing down Ethan's killing intention and a moment later, the gamma shifted back into his human self. He had his head hung so low. "Take him back to his room."

Cane glanced at Redmond and this time, the warrior didn't dare to put on airs and immediately did what he was told.

He paused for a second to look at Ethan, only when he thought he was safe to be approached, did he proceed to walk toward him.

On the other hand, Alan finally snapped back to his senses and glared at Cane, ignoring Corry's advice to leave the alpha alone and get his wounds treated first.

"Do you think you will get away with this?!" Alan shouted at Cane. "My father will have his head hung on the gates!"

Cane stopped walking and approached him instead.

Alan was still sitting on the dirty ground, while the Alpha was towering above him and from this angle, he felt so intimidated by him.

"If you don't like running your mouth so much, you will not end up so pitiful like this," Cane said, his voice trickling with disdain, as if he was looking at something unpleasant.

However, after saying his piece, he simply walked away, not heeding to Alan's curses that were directed at him. He only stopped when he saw Iris, standing on the top of the stairs to the pack house. She was standing too far to hear the conversation, but then she didn't need to hear to understand what they were talking about even if she was not able to.

Beside Iris was Alpha Gallot. His expression was hard to read, he didn't seem frantic to see how his warriors had been injured by Ethan.1

"Alpha…" Iris started, but Cane simply walked past her and didn't look back. He still nodded at Alpha Gallot, though he didn't say anything to him either.

Once Cane's retreating figure had disappeared, Alpha Gallot tapped Iris' shoulder to get her attention. "I told you, right? Your pack is helpless. Do you really want to let someone like him be the Alpha of the pack?"

Iris stared at him.

"People who escaped slavery will not be able to be in their right mind. Them becoming unhinged is inevitable. Just because Alpha Cane acts normal now, you cannot think that he is not crazy." Alpha Gallot smirked, his eyes lit up. "If you want, I will help you to free your pack and be independent."
