CANE'S ENDEARMENT GESTURE
Before Iris went to the capital city, she had followed Cane to the black market and Jace would always be left behind to take care of the pack every time the alpha went away, thus the time he spent with Iris was very limited. They were at the point of being courteous with each other, but he had not yet reached the point of trusting her completely.
Not like Ethan, Jace was still thinking Iris was the member of Blue Moon pack and was not one of them.
He also always thought Cane treated Iris considerately because he needed her, since he had to get a grip of the Blue Moon pack and the whole magic stone mines. More so, she held some of Cane's secret and the fact, her presence eased Cane's transformation during the new moon justified his needs to take her whenever he went away.
However, what Jace witnessed just now was simply too shocking to be believable.
He kissed her! He kissed the tip of her nose!?
Cane only did the endearment gesture to the people that dear to him! He did that to his previous mate and his twin siblings! Something that not many people realized it, but of course, as his beta, he knew this much.
And now, he kissed her that way?! Did he even realize it?! Or was this some kind of his ruse again? He didn't do anything casually, ever since they managed to be free from their slavery, he became a calculative person.
Yet, from the way Jace looked at it, Cane did it very naturally. He probably didn't even think about it.
"Who is that person?" Cane asked all of sudden when Jace only stood in his place, he was in daze, his expression was complicated.
Jace snapped back to reality and shook his head. "I don't know, I lost him…" He walked over to approach them. "He suddenly disappeared and I can't find him, there is no trace whatsoever and his scent also vanished all of sudden."
"His scent too?" Cane's expression hardened, he rested his hand on Iris's waist, as he talked to Jace. His tone became cold.
"Yes. I don't know how." Jace glanced at Cane's hand on Iris's waist. He was not seeing things.
A lot of things happened in the span of less than an hour Cane was away and on top of the plan they had to work on, he needed to prioritize what he should do next.
"Let Arthur knows about this matter and ask someone else to look into this matter. We will proceed with the plan tonight." Cane was well aware, there would be nothing much he could find about this mysterious man, since they didn't know where to start to gather the information about him, but he needed to alert his men about his appearance.
"What about the sorcerer?" Jace asked. He shifted his attention from Cane's hand.
"Haco will arrive tonight."
And with that, the plan was in the motion, while Cane was still trying to figure out the mysterious man, who had shown Iris the ability of this little lizard. He had never heard something like this, but probably it was because Cane was too ignorance about the matter regarding magic and Holy Kingdom and the rare creatures of the Serafim.
But, after he heard what Haco said about the lycan and the attachment of the cursed beast toward Iris, so did the salamander, which was no other than a creature that belonged to Serafim, he wanted to get more information about the Holy Kingdom, but it was almost an impossible thing for him to get any information even if he went to Andelus continent, as the Holy Kingdom was not a place for a shifter like him.
More so, he had a way to make them to come here instead…
==============================
"Master, are you sure this is wise to help that alpha?" Sabian asked his master. He stared at the flying hawk Lou set to fly across the ocean to reach the Holy Kingdom, carrying Alan's handwriting, where he spilled the bean about what happened in the continent and the appearance of the lycan and black magic. "This is so dangerous to get involved with the Holy Kingdom…" The old man looked worried for his master's sake.
As far as he knew, it was Lou, who wanted to take advantage of Cane and used this alpha for his own benefit, but instead, it was the other way around from the way he looked at thing right now.
His master was smart, but how the alpha confirmed him to take this risk?
"Why not? Why do you think it is dangerous?" Lou asked nonchalantly, as he stared at the flying hawk, which looked so tiny in the vast night sky.
"Master!" Sabian felt so helpless with his master's recklessness. Before, he caused trouble within the palace with the sudden monster attack, that almost cost him his life, because he couldn't control the portal, but right now, he poked his head into the problem between the Ogregon continent and the Holy Kingdom.
"Nah." Lou waved his hand casually. "You are worried too much. I sent the letter with Alan's handwriting and it's also him, who spilled the bean about what happened here, though his father tried his hardest to conceal it." There was an amuse smile on the corner of his lips when he said those things. Stupid people was amusing, after all, as long as they didn't drag him down with their stupidity. "I have nothing to do with it. They can't track me down, even if Alan confessed, I only need to deny it."
"Master! It's not easy to deny such thing! You meet with him in person inside his bedroom."
"That's right. The room is locked and there are guards in every corner, how can I enter the room? I was not there in the first place." Lou shrugged his shoulders and walked away, whistled happily.
But little did Lou realize, if they couldn't track him down with his involvement of suggesting such thing to Alan, it would be even more impossible for them to make connection to Cane.
A week had past after Lou sent the letter to the Holy Kingdom, they must have received it by now and this early morning, the whole capital city was in an uproar with the news alpha Cane managed to track down the lycan that had kidnapped his mate to the Riverside pack.
Not only that… there was other shocking news about it.0
"They found Vemion's body?" Lou looked at Sabian in shocked. "In the Riverside pack house?"
"Yes, master," Sabian reported it to his master in low voice, on their way to the site, where they would be finishing up the device. It would take them a few more days and they would be done with it. "Actually, not his body… but, only his head, the lycan had decapitated the fourth prince's body."
"What about Iris?" Lou couldn't care less about Vemion, the lycan could chew Vemion's body for all he cared. "How is she?"
"The luna is fine. Currently, they are residing in the Riverside pack house. Alpha Cane is investigating alpha Gill now."
