2Cane couldn't be careless about the king's motive, since he had expected his journey to the south, even if it was not for to confirm whether the woman was carrying his baby or not, the king must demand an explanation from him for executing the five alphas. More so, there were five packs without leader now and Aeon needed to arrange something about it. 

What concern Cane was the people, who would come with the king. 

"From the report I received, it will be the king and lady Cyan, while the queen will be in the palace to receive the people from the Holy Kingdom, who will be arrived in the next month, just in case the king couldn't return in time to greet them."

"Lady Cyan…" Cane said her name in contemplation. Somehow, he had guessed it. There was something fishy about this woman and his suspicion only grew to see the way she interacted with the king and Alan. It was a power play that she showed at that time, though it was very subtle. 

Cane didn't pay close attention to her because she kept a very low profile and rarely be seen in the public, yet when they found the black magic stones in the prince Osana's palace and the matter with the lycan and black magic resurface, she made a public appearance. 

"But, it is not decided yet. It can be changed." Ethan immediately added. 

"Hm." Cane was sure, whoever would join the king entourage, lady Cyan would definitely come. He remembered Haco mentioned there was a dark sorcerer within the palace, who prevented him from cursing princess Osana. 

"Oh, and the merchant, Lou, he will arrive in the Howling Wolf pack within this week, our men spotted him a few days away from our pack."

"I told him to go to the Blue Moon pack." Cane looked so cold to hear that.

"But, our man saw him take the route that was closer to Howling Wolf pack rather than the Blue Moon pack."

Cane knew this merchant would be a trouble. "Where is Haco?"

"I think he is in the hut. Last night, he asked one of the warriors to accompany him there," Ethan recalled. "I assumed he is afraid, you will make him sitting on the corner again."

"Tell someone to call him back, tell him Iris is awake."

"Okay," Ethan said, he was about to order one of the warriors when Jace returned with Hanna and Grace. 

The alpha told the two women to go inside the bedroom and check on his mate, taking care of her needs, after that, if Iris was strong enough, he would wait for her in the main hall this afternoon. "You go and find Haco, tell him to come here right away," Cane ordered Jace instead to find the sorcerer by himself.

Iris looked so beautiful when she approached Cane. She had her lunch inside her bedroom, since she learned Cane was having lunch with alpha Dristan and Koda to discuss about a matter at hand. She didn't feel like meeting them, thus she joined Cane when she heard he was going out to meet with people in this pack. 

She was wearing a beautiful white dress that contrasted with her auburn hair, which half of it was tied into a bun on top of her head. She had this calm and peaceful aura around her when she walked, while talking to Hanna by her side and Redmond followed behind her. 

Cane stared at his mate and was glad to see her returned to her usual self. It was a relief to see how Iris didn't dwell with what happened to her, whether she forgot about the event, or she simply pretended something like that never happened, whatever way she had to cope up, it was fine. 

Cane extended his hand and pulled her closer to him, as he kissed her forehead when she approached him. "Feeling better?" he asked gently. 

Iris was a little bit flustered, as she blushed when Cane showed such display of affection. Recently, he had been so free to touch and kiss her in the public. She was not sure, whether this was for a show, or he was genuine with his gesture, but then she remembered their kiss this morning… no one was inside the room, thus there was no need for Cane to show such affection, in that case, could she assume this was a genuine gesture?

"Yes," Iris replied. 

"Luna Iris, it is a pleasure to see you," alpha Dristan said, as he approached the two of them, while Koda was following slightly behind him. 

"The pleasure is mine," Iris replied politely, she smiled softly at the alpha. 

"I heard you are sick." alpha Dristan engaged with a small conversation with her. "You really make alpha Cane so worried about you."

"I am fine now, thanks to alpha Cane for taking care of me," Iris replied. 

"Yes, I can see how beautiful you are right now." Alpha Dristan didn't lie when he said that. If it was another woman, he would have his way to get her, but of course, at time like this, he wouldn't want to have a conflict with alpha Cane. Having this alpha as an ally was way more valuable than a mere runt like her. 

"Thank you."

"We are going to leave now," Cane said, as he helped Iris to enter the carriage. 

They went to the main street, where Oliver and some people worked together to distribute seeds so they could start growing something to eat, aside from going hunting in the mountain. The same thing happened in the other four packs. 

Cane finally got a hold of their fortune, but without something to buy, those golds were useless. At this point, he indeed needed the merchant. It was a good thing Lou went to the Howling Wolf pack, but Cane was not happy to see him.  3

"In the next two weeks, we will return to the Howling Wolf pack to receive the king." Cane let Iris know about this beforehand.
