THEIR INTERACTION

Cane had expected the king would come, or at the very least, he would be summoned to the capital city again, to be questioned about the execution of the five alphas, but he thought, it wouldn't be this fast. 

Since people from the Holy Kingdom would arrive, Cane assumed the king would receive them first before he took care the matter in the south, since time would be so tight for travel back and forth, more so, there were a lot of problems within the royal court regarding the new crown prince. 

But, as it turned out, Aeon made this hasty decision. This move didn't feel like him… Cane could feel how out of character this plan to visit the south was. If it was the king, who made the decision, he would focus on the matter at court first. 

The king didn't even show himself when the Howling Wolf pack was under the Blue Moon pack control to avoid people's wrath for the power shifting. 

"The king will come?" Iris moved in her seat uncomfortably. Cane said they didn't need to return to the pack until the woman gave birth to the baby that those people assumed was his. "Why?"

"Because of the execution of the five alphas," Cane replied lightly. He stared at Iris, studied her expression. 

"Or, is it because he wanted to see his future grandnephew?" Iris couldn't help it, as her voice sounded so bitter. She felt this suffocating feeling again, where she couldn't control her anger and this showed on her expression. 

Cane extended his hand and caught her hand that pulled her hair nervously. "Something in your mind?" 

"Nothing." Iris freed her hand from his grip and stared at the window, indicating she didn't want to talk anymore. 

Silent befell upon them until they arrived at their destination and like usual, Cane helped Iris to get off the carriage and kept her close to him. 

"We will walk from here, because the carriages couldn't go through this road," Cane informed Iris after he squeezed her hand to get her attention. 

Iris looked around, there were a few warriors carrying boxes after boxes and she recognized them as the former warrior from the Riverside pack, with warrior from the Howling Wolf pack be the person in charge for them. 

Some of the warriors waved their hand at Iris, as they came here along with the gamma and the Red Claw pack entourage. 

Iris smiled at them, recognized all of them, there were around ten warriors, who were here from the capital city and the rest stayed there with Aderan. 

On the other hand, Jace frowned to see the interaction between the warriors and Iris. Ethan had told him about what happened during their time in the capital city, but knowing how gamma was, as he had this tendency to exaggerate the story, he didn't believe it right away. 

Yet… what was it?

Cane walked ahead with alpha Dristan and Koda, while Iris and Hanna walked side by side behind them. Thankfully, Hanna had prepared a simple dress for this muddy road, so it would be easy for her to move around. 

Along the street, Iris could see many people stared at them with curiosity and children hid behind their parent's back. They were tensed up when Cane and alpha Dristan walked past them, since their presence as the alpha was so strong. 

Hanna nudged Iris to get her attention. "I was once like them, miss, before you found me." She smiled at her with tears welled up in her eyes. "Thank you."

Iris smiled back at her. "Thank you for staying with me all this time."

They walked further, it created a small entourage with a lot of boxes in the end of this line and the alpha was upfront. 

Iris saw Will, walking beside four warriors, who carried one of the boxes, making sure they did their job well and then glanced at Hanna. 

"How is it between you and him?" Iris asked in small voice. 

Hanna glanced at Will and looked so gloomy. "Nothing," she mouthed. Her eyes dimmed and Iris could see the deep sadness in her eyes.

Hanna was crying when she met with her again, thinking Iris was being kidnapped by the lycan and she would end up missing like prince Vemion, she felt so relief to see her. 

On the other hand, Iris felt bad because she was fine all this long, but she couldn't tell her about that. 

"Why?" Iris asked again, wanted to know more. 

"I don't know. He didn't want to talk to me, but he kept protecting me when we were attacked by monsters. I know he asked a few warriors to look after me, but why he didn't want to talk to me directly? Did I do something wrong?" Hanna ranted, she felt annoyed, sad and frustrated. She didn't know what went wrong between them. 

"Oh, Hanna… I am sure he will come around."

Hanna shook her head sadly. "I don't even know if I want him anymore. I thing I am on the verge of giving up. He didn't want me, so why would I want him?" 

"Of course, he wants you. It's just his brain is not braining at this moment."0

Both Iris and Hanna were shocked to hear Ethan's voice between them all of sudden, because they were too engrossed with their conversation so they didn't realize the gamma had been eavesdropping. 

"You can't give up, if it's not you. Who else could knock some sense into his mind? He needed someone to tell him how wrong it is to ignore the person, who cared about you." Hanna and Iris frowned to see this sudden intervention. "What?" Ethan looked confused to receive such look from them. 

"Since when you are here?" Hanna asked sullenly. 

"What? Am I not allowed to join?" 

"Why do you want to join in a conversation between women?" Redmond chimed in as well, which made the two of them bickered again. 

Not too far, Jace was dumfounded with their interaction.
