Are Dragons Real?

"It's your choice to decide what you want to do with your life and I am no one to meddle in. All I wish for you to accept who you are. Unless you accept it with an open mind, you cannot expect others to do the same.  Being a Black Witch is not a bad thing. You are not a bad person or a vile creature. You are you. Do not let someone else's bad experience and opinion in life define your existence."1

Oriana smiled, but there was a trace of helplessness on her face. There were things that were easy to say, but hard to put into action. Especially when it comes to emotions.

"I am not sure what to think, but thank you, Lord Yorian. Thank you for being kind."

The elf stopped in place, and he patted her head the way a doting elder would to a young one.

"Oriana, keep this in mind—you are more than just a Black Witch, greater than what you think you are. You are confused at this moment, scared even, but it is fine. You have time. No one is forcing anything on you. I believe the day will come where you will discover your purpose in life. When that day comes, do not run away. Face reality, hopefully with people you trust by your side.

"We do not have much time together and we will be parting ways soon. At this moment we are in other kingdom and some enemies might be keeping an eye on us we can not do nothing much. However, know that I think of you as an honest person. Seek us when you need help. King Drayce and I will help you decide what you need to do when the time comes you are torn to choose."

Hazel eyes flickered with uncertainty. "Why are you so kind to me, Lord Yorian?"

"Because people can be kind without reason," the elf replied. "You might have grown up surrounded by humans who more often than not act based on interest and benefit. I understand. But for my kind, to ensure that a child is not lost is a responsibility we all share. When you can stand on your own, make decisions on your own, then that is the greatest way to repay my kindness."

At this moment, Oriana's eyes turned moist.

Yorian continued, "We will find a way to help you understand your powers. Remember what we told you before? About King Drayce's mother? She will know what to do, but it will take us time to determine whether we wait for her to return from the Kingdom of Agartha, or we will have to journey and take you there."

"If Lord Yorian and King Drayce help me, then won't it upset His Highness…?"

"Do not worry about him." Yorian could only say those words, unwilling to assure her at this moment regarding Arlan and neither he could tell her about him. "When the time comes, things will fall in place. We need to be a little patient for now till we decide something good for you."

Oriana felt like she could trust this elf's words. She also realized he did not meet her by coincidence, but he sought her out for a reason to have this conversation. He wanted to assure her that she was not alone and they were here to help her with this new discovery of her life.

"That Kingdom of Agartha you say, I want to know more about it. Last time you said it's a hidden kingdom of supernatural beings and told me various races reside there."

The elf nodded, before changing his mind and shaking his head. "How do I explain? Agartha…is a safe haven. Many supernatural races chose to live there, but not only supernatural beings. There are also humans living there."

"Humans too?" Oriana was wide-eyed. "I thought—"

"Back in the olden days, you had no idea how cruel war was. People flee for their lives, only wanting to survive. Hundreds of thousands of lives, all they want is a place to call home, regardless of clan or race."

"Amazing…"

"Right? That kind of kingdom is ruled by King Draven Aramis, a Black Dragon. It is only possible to have such a paradise because he is the most powerful divine beast in existence."

"D-Dragon?" Oriana gaped. "Dragons are real?"

"Yes, they are, though Draven Aramis is the only known living Dragon in existence, at least officially," Yorian answered with a twinkle in his eyes.

"I thought their existence was just a myth."

"How can humans have stories about Black Dragon when they have never seen one? Though most truths are twisted, their existence is a fact."

"Oh," was all she could say. Then, something about Yorian's wording struck her wrong. "By  'officially', are you saying…?"

"Smart girl,"  Yorian praised. "As far as I am concerned, there are three living Dragons on the continent. Aside from the King of Agartha, there is a Red Dragon and a Gold Dragon."

"Do they live in Agartha as well?"

Yorian shook his head. "They live among humans."

Oriana gasped. "Like you?"

"Like me." Yorian smiled. "Think about it. Miss Martha is a witch, yet she lives and integrates well with human society, yes? Most supernatural beings love peace. You will likely not discover them unless they use magic in front of you."

"That makes sense." She grew curious. "You say there are only three Dragons?"

"Till now I only got to see three. Not sure if there are more in existence." Yorian answered only to hear her, "Do we have anyone around us?"

"You will know if you are meant to know it," and asked, "Don't you want to know about your race?"

"I want to.  You mentioned that there is an entire village composed of Black Witches in Agartha."

"There is and I wish you to meet them soon so you will know your kind is not evil as what most people think."

"I look forward to it."

"That mean you agree to not run away and stay in contact with us?"

Oriana laughed. "Even if I run away, I believe Lord Yorian will find me."

The elf smiled, relieved to find the tension in her body dissipating. "You are a smart girl indeed. Just do not take any decision in haste. I believe you will make the right decisions."

"I will."

"Well, I guess it is about time I go," the elf said as he glanced elsewhere. "If you need me for anything, just think about me and I will be there."

"Just think?" Her mouth gaped. "C-Can you read minds, my lord?!"

Yorian offered her a vague smile before walking away from her, leaving her puzzled.
