Magical Letter Writing
Yorian stood up and led Oriana's way out of the study. Without a word both of them went to the second floor. Oriana realized it was related to her being a witch or the elf wouldn't have brought her here.1
"You can put that box down," Yorian informed.
Oriana followed and then stood in her place, "Anything the matter, my Lord?"
Yorian nodded, "We would be paring ways soon. Have you thought about how we would be in contact in case you need mine or king Drayce's help?"
"I didn't," she replied and asked, "do we have a way? Is it something like what Rosetta gave me, that pendent, any magical artifact, so I can call you whenever I need help?"
"No. I do not have any such artifact," the elf replied and then raised a brow, his eyes sparkling with something interesting, "and why do we need such an artifact when what we need is already inside you."
"Inside me?"Oriana asked in a surprise.
The elf nodded, "The divine power inside you."
"Are we going to use my divine power?" Oriana felt excited.
Rosetta had taught her how to use her power of darkness but not her divine power. Other than stirring the wind around her, she could not use it for any other purpose. But it seemed like now it was the time.
"I am going to teach you how to write letters using your divine power. It's simple magic and I believe you will learn it quickly."
"Writing letters using magic?" She exclaimed in shock. "Is it really possible?"
The elf smiled lightly, "I believe by now you must know one can do far unbelievable things by using their power."
Oriana didn't comment on it as she knew what she had learned from Rosetta till now, was already far fetched to her imagination.
"I want to learn it," she said.
"This magic is mostly famous in my clan, the high elves. As we are a clan of warriors and always fought against enemies, we used this magic to pass messages to our clan members whenever there's any danger. Well, that is not the only reason we used it. It was the most common and effective way of communication. Example- when someone missed their family, friends, loved ones, they often used this method. Rest you can imagine on your own."
Oriana nodded.
"But if you think it's an easy and faster way and can use it many times in a day, it's not possible. There is always a limitation for everything. It needs magic and magic needs your inner strength. It can exhaust you if you use it multiple times. So, one has to differentiate how and when to use it."
"I understand."
Yorian started explaining, "It includes using ancient rune magic to draw letters in air."
He didn't explain ancient Rune as he knew Oriana was aware of it. Neither Oriana asked him anything to not waste time uselessly.
"Watch me carefully. It includes three stages. First you have to create a magical base which you can consider as an empty page to write your message. That magical base will hold your message."
Yorian moved his hands forward in front, moved his fingers and chanted something. The next moment something happened and a transparent magical base was created in the air of a size of blank paper. Oriana looked at it in awe.
"Second, think about what you want to write. With the help of an ancient rune, it will convert your thoughts into words. It will refine those words into syllables and will be written on this magical base."
As Yorian looked at that base, Oriana watched some syllables, shining with magic, being written on that magical base but those were foreign to her. It seemed like a different language.
"This is the ancient language of elves. I have written a message in that language but…" he gave a single wave of his hand in front of that magical base in the air and those syllables changed into the language Oriana was aware of.
Oriana could read it now. Oriana read it and it was the same instructions of this magical letter writing that Yorian told her.
"Now the last and third stage. Sending this letter to the person you mean to send it. It is the most important and difficult part. If you get it wrong, your letter will not reach the person and might be sent to the wrong receiver."
Yorian continued to teach her. They practiced for a while and as expected, Oriana learned it faster. By the time she did, she felt a little exhausted.
"You were right, Lord Yoriaa. It sure costs more energy."
"More the distance between you and the receiver, it will cost more of your power reserve. So use it sparingly and carefully. Using any magic never comes for free. It will always cost you something. Hear that something is your energy reserve."
"I understood."
"If you need any help or find yourself in trouble, you can send such a message to me or king Drayce. We will always be there to help you."
"Thank you, Lord Yorian."
Oriana went to her room carrying a box of herbs. She put it on the table and then used spatial magic to keep it safe with her. In a moment the box disappeared from the table. A satisfied smile appeared on her lips.
'Now I can carry it anywhere I want, without the worry of being caught.'
She looked at the folded coat placed on the one side of the bed. It belonged to Araln and she needed to take it back.
'I will tell him Lady Ria asked me to give it back to him.'
She stepped out of the room and left Megaris' guest mansion after informing Seren. Her hands carefully held the Prince's folded coat.
Standing by the window of his study, Drayce looked at Oriana leaving from the rear gate connected to the Griven guest mansion boundary.
"She has learned spatial magic," Yorian commented, who followed Drayce's line of sight, seemingly knowing what the King must be thinking.
"She is a fast learner," Drayce commented, "as expected of Queen of Witches. The magic flows in her blood much stronger than others of her kind."
Yorian agreed, "It takes days to learn it as spatial magic is critical and dangerous. Being a Queen allows her to learn everything faster than other witches. She learned magical letter writing in just a single attempt while it takes weeks or more to get skilled in it."
"That is praise worthy."
"We shall give this credit to Zaria," Yorian spoke, "she taught her well and brought her true potential out. Only woman like Zaria could teach someone like Oriana who is wilful."
Drayce frowned at the mention of Zaria but he knew Zaria was an important person if they wished to protect Oriana. Only she could teach the powerful witch, a Queen herself.
"Will they keep meeting?" Drayce asked.
"They need to. in few days she could teach her hardly few things. They need to meet so Zaria can teach her everything."
"After we leave Othinia, make sure to visit Oriana once in a while to check on her. We can not trust Zaria entirely."
"Rest assured, king Drayce. I will take care of it."
---
When Oriana reached Griven guest mansion, her heart beat faster as she looked at the building. Entering the main door, she would be facing the prince. It made her nervous.
'Not sure, how am I going to face him after that embarrassing situation we were in? I wish I can erase it from my memories so I could act normal.'
Sighing inwardly, she finally walked inside.
