Selfie
It was the first time the family of three spent the morning together. Therefore, they didn't have any concrete idea of how they would spend it. They just did what they thought was right, idling in the garden after a bountiful breakfast. 0
As usual, Sebastian took a few books with him to read. He still had a few days before going back to school. Meanwhile, Dominic, sitting around the same table, read the current news on his tablet while enjoying a cup of tea.
Heaven was the only one who had nothing else to do. Thus, she pretended to use her phone. It was still too early to do any activity, and she didn't want to ruin the peacefulness of the morning.
As she scrolled through her phone, she accidentally tapped on the phone's gallery.
'Huh?' Her brows rose as soon as she saw the photos she took yesterday. The side of her lips hooked up, recalling she took photos and videos of Sebastian whenever her son wasn't looking.
'I thought I was just seeing things yesterday,'she joked internally. 'But he was really smiling.'
Heaven zoomed in on Sebastian's candid, smiling photo. The latter was smiling a bit and his cheek was a little pinkish. It was an adorable photo of him. Anyone who would see this photo wouldn't even have an idea of the way this boy spoke.
She swiped and swiped, getting in a better mood. She only took a few several photos and videos yesterday whenever she had the chance. Even Heaven didn't know why, knowing she wasn't into taking photos herself. Her previous life deterred her from seeing the value of photos.
When she swiped once more, her thumb stopped.
'This…' Her smile faded as she stared at the photo that was already on the phone before she took over this body.
It was a portrait of the original Heaven and her father. She was hugging him from behind, smiling from ear to ear until her eyes were squinting. The middle-aged man in the photo was holding her arm, smiling genuinely.
'What a way to ruin the mood, Heaven,'she whispered in her heart, staring at the photo quietly. 'These two innocent and happy people… surely met a tragic end.'
The original Heaven was undoubtedly a filial daughter; Hera couldn't question that. Heaven might be a neglectful wife and a horrible mother, but she was a loving daughter. Even at the peak of her success, her love for her father never changed.
She worked hard because she needed to fund her father's medical needs.
Thinking about the life of the original Heaven, it was tragic. Sure. Hera couldn't sympathize with Heaven's life in the past five years. However, she could sympathize with her in the days before her marriage.
'Wherever you are, Heaven, I sincerely hope you are now with your father, just like what you always wished.' Those thoughts came from the bottom of her heart. 'Stay with him because you have no place to come back to anymore.'
Harsh as it may sound, that was the truth.
She might sympathize with the original Heaven, but Hera wouldn't give up this life as well. All she could hope was for the original Heaven to be happy wherever she was right now.
'The least I can do for you is to find who killed you,' she added. 'Don't worry. Whoever it was, I'll get to the bottom of it.'
Though somehow, deep in the soul's heart, she felt a little restless at the thought. There were so many possibilities to kill someone, after all. What she found most concerning of all was that whoever murdered Heaven might have a different agenda. Worse. This person might not be on her suspect list.
If that was the case, then surely, the former concern was more plausible. The reason might not be as shallow as she originally thought it was, and that rang all emergency bells in her head.
'Gosh. This is giving me a headache.' She clicked her tongue in irritation. 'There's so much thing to do, but this continuously bothers me. I can't just ignore it.'
Heaven exited the gallery, only to sense a pair of eyes on her. When she slowly raised her head, all she saw were Dominic and Sebastian looking in her direction.
"What?" she asked, confused.
"Did you see something bad?" asked Dominic, tilting his head to the side. "Why are you clicking your tongue?"
"…" Heaven darted her eyes between her son and husband. 'Are they always this attentive?'
"Nothing. It's just that my phone is lagging." She smiled, biting her tongue with that shallow lie. "It's fine now."
Sebastian glanced at his mother's phone. "That's an old model, so, naturally, it's slow considering all the current updates."
"I'll buy you a new one later," Dominic announced, not even offering as if there was nothing to negotiate anymore.
"…" Heaven was momentarily speechless. "Haha. It's fine. The phone is fine, so no need to bother. It'll be a hassle if I transfer all my files to another."
"You can transfer files easily if you changed to the same brand," Sebastian answered, rendering her speechless. "I can help if you want."
"It's alright. I'll still buy you one. Use it when you want to," Dominic added.
"…" Heaven sighed. It was just a phone! No, the problem was actually a lie! The phone was working perfectly fine.
'Whatever.'
"Fine. Whatever you guys like." Heaven shook her head, setting her attention back on her phone. To avoid the attention she was getting from the two, she checked the original Heaven's social media accounts.
Hera knew Heaven from inside and out, just from the memories that were left to her. However, she might find out more that could give her the lead to Heaven's murder. But instead of finding any clue, Heaven just saw countless messages from fans and comments, asking for her to update her page.
'The last post was… five years ago.' Heaven blinked before she grinned. She tapped the camera button, lifted the phone away, and snapped a selfie.
'Good thing I took special care of my face this morning.'Heaven giggled as she typed, [ I'm still alive! ] before posting the selfie.
As soon as she did, she raised her head at the other two once again. They were looking at her with equal dismay. She didn't know why.
"What?" she asked again, wondering if these two were just pretending to do their own thing, but were actually just observing her. "Uhm… do you want to take a photo?"
"I don't like taking photos, but if you insist," Sebastian answered immediately, jumping out of his seat.
Meanwhile, Dominic moved his chair near her. He propped his arm on the backrest of her chair, fluttering his eyelashes ever so tenderly.
They didn't even think about it!
"Let me hold it," he proposed before taking the phone from her hand. But instead of using her account's camera, he went to the phone's original camera to snap their first family photo.
"Uh, wait." Heaven was still mind-boggled at the quick turn of events. She turned to Sebastian as the latter was standing on her side. "Baby, come sit on my lap."
Sebastian's brow rose but still awkwardly sat on her lap with her help. As soon as he settled, the smile on her face returned.
"I'm ready," she announced with a grin, casting Dominic a look. Seeing that look on her face, the side of his lips curled up.
