[Bonus chapter]Deeper than six feet for sure
"We decided to meet and talk about the script and practice our chemistry. That's all. We're not dating. The heartbreak I had five years ago made me focus on my career. After all, I'm still waiting for closure — maybe a little hopeful, too. She suddenly ghosted me and I don't know what I did wrong."0
Oh, no.
Heaven could only stare at Leo for the next minute. It appeared she underestimated a person's feelings.
When she thought of the connections the original Heaven made with this man five years ago, she meant it just as it meant. Leo and Heaven never called it official, but they were almost — almost there.
Thinking about it, Heaven almost felt sorry for him.
'He might look like an angel and I appreciate his beauty, but…' A shallow breath slipped past her lips. '… his dearest Heaven was long gone. She will never come back.'
"Is that so?" Heaven smiled subtly, biting her tongue to stop herself from giving this man what he needed. If this happened under different circumstances, she wouldn't hesitate to give him closure. However, they met in such a situation Paula orchestrated.
She couldn't let this slide.
"Well, I'm glad you and Paula will be working on a project." Heaven ignored his hint. "Considering you two are very successful and great actors, I'm looking forward to this movie."
"Haha." Leo just laughed, understanding she chose to ignore his hints.
There was no way she forgot about the two of them. Back then, they would talk through text or calls whenever they get the chance. They would even come out on a 'friendly' date, getting to know each other since Heaven wasn't ready to commit to a relationship.
"But… I'll reconsider your offer." His brows rose when Heaven spoke again. "I mean, I can. If it's a minor role or even an extra, it'll be an honor to be a part of a masterpiece."
"Really?" His eyes shone in surprise, moving his face closer.
She chuckled. "Who wouldn't want to be a part of the project Leo Wu and Paula Shen are starring in? This movie will surely be a hit. Although I don't think I'm ready for anything just yet, thinking about how the movie will come out brought this motivation into my heart."
"Haha!" Leo laughed, not taking her remarks seriously. However, he believed Heaven had changed her mind because she wanted to support her friend, Paula Shen. "Paula will be elated."
"About that…" Heaven bit her lips as she sported a conflicted look. "Can you keep that a secret from her?"
"Hmm? Why?"
"Well… I want to surprise her." Heaven smiled beautifully. "Paula had been nagging me to make a comeback. She even offered me a place for me to stay since her place is close to the network, so I want to surprise her. Paula is such a worrywart, after all."
"You two really had a wonderful friendship."
"Yes, we do," Heaven recalled the friendship she had with Paula and nearly rolled her eyes. If this was what friendship meant, she would rather not have friends. "So, will you do that favor? I know it sounds shameless, but –"
"Don't worry. There's a vacant spot that I think will suit you."
"A small one?" she asked. More like a reminder that what she was asking was just a small role. Her intention was simply to torment Paula Shen for pulling off something like this. Nothing more, nothing less.
"Well, for you, it's considered a minor role." He smiled amicably. "Don't worry. This wouldn't require too much work. You'll probably need in the set a few times or once a week."
Heaven glanced up momentarily. She didn't know much about Heaven's line of work, nor did she have an idea of how small or big a role was supposed to be. Thus, she could only rely on the original Heaven's memory.
'Ah.'Heaven rocked her head in understanding. 'That's what he meant.'
In their line of work, a minor role was something that was meant to add colors to the film or drama. They don't have that many lines, sometimes they had nothing. Although they weren't the same as extras, they still have a small relevance to the entirety of the project.
"Thank you, Senior." She expressed, addressing him formally as a way to draw the line between them. "Paula's birthday is coming and I think this will be the best gift I can give her."
Leo's smile slightly waned at how she addressed him but didn't point it out. "I'm happy to help, although I should thank you."
"Huh?"
"This role is been vacant since the beginning and there were talks of taking this role out."
"And why is that?"
"It's because it's hard to find someone who can fit the role. The director of the film is Director Guan, so that gives you an idea of why such a minor role is becoming a problem. You know him, he's meticulous in every aspect — he'll be very happy to have you on the team."
"Oh." She didn't know who this director was and was unwilling to bother to check her memory. "That somehow made me excited and scared."
"Don't worry." Leo winked, smiling encouragingly. "I know you can pull it off. Anyway, if you still use your number, I'll just text you once I get a confirmation from the Director."
"What if he didn't agree?"
"Then they'd have to find another male lead."
"…"
'This… is the reason Heaven liked him,'thought Heaven, feeling a little guilty for using him. But not guilty enough to stop. 'He really liked Heaven.'
Before Heaven could say anything to hurt his feelings, her phone rang. "Ah, wait. It's probably Paula."
"It's alright. You should answer. Don't mind me." Leo waved dismissively, watching her move her body to the side.
Heaven fished her phone out of her handbag, and her guess was right. It was her best friend, dearest Paula Shen.
'This wicked little thing,' Heaven mentally sneered as she pressed the green button. 'Just you wait. You'll soon find out how deep your grave will be. It's deeper than six feet, for sure.'
