One place, different experience.
Heaven followed Dominic's and Dane's figure with her gaze until her husband sat across the two businessmen. Dane sat at the table near them, not joining them, but was close enough to hear their discussion. 1
'Right.' Heaven sighed, feeling a little dejected. 'My husband is such a busy man. He probably moved his meeting here, so he couldn't flirt right now.'
Heaven glanced at Paula and Leo. They were still conversing, agreeing with something Heaven didn't care about.
"Alright. I'll text you then." Paula nodded at Leo before casting Heaven a look. "Heaven, I'm sorry. We're just talking about finalizing our meeting before the reading session. I didn't mean for you to feel left out."
"Oh." Leo was a little speechless, feeling slightly sorry if Heaven felt that way. "Sorry if that's what you feel."
Duh?
'Are the people in the entertainment circle so quick to conclude?' Heaven wondered, sporting a short smile at the two. "It's fine. I just thought I forgot something, so I was a little worried."
"Oh…" Leo rocked his head while Paula didn't buy that lame excuse.
Back then, Heaven would take Paula to meetings like this one where Paula would feel left out. For Paula, it was Heaven's way of showing the difference in their career. Therefore, she purposely did the same to hurt Heaven's feelings.
Now, everything was the opposite.
"Anyway, don't you have other plans today, Senior Wu?" Heaven ignored the peeking contempt in Paula's eyes, as she was no longer interested in her.
"Me?" Leo pointed at himself. "Well… not really. Are you going to leave now?"
"I don't think so. Heaven doesn't have anything much to do since leaving the industry. So, she's very much free, right, Heaven?" Paula leaned her arms against the table, smiling innocently at her dearest friend.
'Gosh… she really wouldn't stop, huh?'Heaven sighed faintly, keeping watch on her expression, as this wasn't the time to teach Paula a lesson.
The lesson Paula needed was far more severe than anyone. After all, she was no different from the person who killed Heaven because Paula slowly poisoned Heaven's mind, pushing her off the edge of depression. Everything she was doing now was just an added point to deserve her demise.
"Paula is right." Heaven smiled. "My next commitment is in one hour. I'm just concerned about Senior Wu."
Leo smiled warmly. "It's alright. I can stay for the next hour. It's been a while since I saw you and it'll be a shame to leave immediately."
"Perfect!" Paula clasped her hand. "It's great to spend time with friends from time to time."
"Indeed." Leo nodded in agreement, but Heaven could only maintain her smile.
She had no energy to lie.
As the three of them stayed idle in their spots, Heaven finally noticed why Paula wanted Leo to stay. It was not because she wanted Heaven and Leo to have more time, but to show Heaven she was already on a different level.
"That's so nice to hear," Leo praised. "Wow. So, it's true you were invited to the fashion week? When will this be?"
"It's still in a few months. Weren't you also invited?"
"Well, unfortunately, I had to turn it down."
"What? Why?"
"Conflict of schedule."
"Oh…"
"Would it be your first time going there?"
"No." Paula proudly smiled. "It's my third time, actually. But the first one is purely for vacation and the second one was to support a friend."
"That's nice. When I was there, I stayed in the Grand Hotel and everything is just wonderful!"
"Really? What a coincidence! I also stayed there because I heard it was very nice…"
Paula excitedly shared her experience in the said county, using it to get even closer to Leo. It didn't seem like it, but Heaven could tell her dearest friend was just bragging.
'Though I have to agree,'Heaven thought, remembering she stayed in that country for six months. 'That country is not bad, since they can supply me with anything I need. Be it ammo, smuggled arms, and such. But what made it even better is that police are part of the mob themselves.'
Heaven remembered the bad times in that country, unlike the two who were fondly recalling their pleasant memories. They were talking about tourist spots, food, and the overall experience. While Heaven was thinking about how many people she crossed there and how many of them survived.
'Good thing they weren't asking for my input,'Heaven thought, knowing her experience there would horrify them. 'They wouldn't consider my time dissolving that pathetic Don a wonderful experience, right? Although how his body sizzled was very calming to listen to.'
This only showed Hera led a very different life. A life beyond normal. Something someone like Paula and Leo wouldn't understand.
"Right." Paula furrowed her brows as she looked at Heaven with a conflicted expression. "How insensitive of me. Heaven hadn't gone there even though she always wished to visit that country."
"Ah?" A question mark instantly hovered over Heaven's head.
"You haven't?" Leo frowned as shame slightly shone in his eyes.
Heaven blinked, darting her eyes between Paula and Leo. "Who told you I haven't?" — she could even speak four dialects in that country alone.
"Heaven." Paula sighed. "It's okay. You don't have to be shy of Senior Wu. I mean, it's not bad if you hadn't gone there. You can always go there once you have the time."
Leo nodded in agreement. "If you want, I can treat you there. Just tell me when you are free. I'm not an expert, but I am slightly familiar with the place."
'Gosh. These people.'Heaven mentally sighed. 'I pilot my own jet. What made them think there's no place in this world I hadn't gone to?'
She couldn't blame them for feeling 'sorry' for her. Hera might've seen the world, but Heaven hadn't. She got pregnant at a very young age, the time her career was about to take off.
"Thank you for the offer, Senior Wu." Heaven smiled. "That's very nice of you, but it's alright. As Paula said, I was very busy. Though I can go there anytime I please, I have more important things to do. Maybe, once I'm free, I will visit."
"Right, Paula?" Heaven smiled at Paula, knowing the latter couldn't deny that. Heaven's husband flies on private planes, after all. Her smile stretched wider when Paula chuckled nervously and had no other way to agree.
"Right. That's why I said you can always go there when you have free time." Paula maintained a smile, but her eyes lit up in frustration because Heaven always had a say in everything.
