[Bonus chapter]Angry

"Mr. Zhu! Please don't do this to us! My little Yun is young and doesn't know what he was saying. I'm sure he didn't mean it! I'll teach my son! This will not happen again, so please, just this once!"2

The principal and the teachers had their eyes wide, watching the woman plead on her knees. Her son, on the other hand, frowned.

"Mommy, what are you doing?!" Little Yun marched to his mother's side, displeased. "Why are you saying sorry? I'll tell them to Dad and –"

"You should apologize for right as well!" his mother hoicked his arm down, subsequently making Little Yun fall to his knees. She placed her hand on the back of his head, forcing him to bow and plead with her.

Of course, their family was wealthy.

They had influence and wealth to give them the privilege of backing their arrogance. However, before the Zhu family, they were nothing.

"Mr. Zhu, I'll discipline him properly this time!" the woman begged, keeping her head down. "Please, just this once, have mercy on us! My husband doesn't know anything about this! Please, please! He'll be angry if he hears this!"

Heaven, Dominic, and Sebastian simply watched the woman plead and plead. When the woman raised her head to see if her pleading had any effect, her heart sank as soon as she caught the pairs of distant gazes cast upon them.

Dominic and Heaven and not even Sebastian revealed a tinge of sympathy for them. With their position, she felt small as the family of three simply looked down at her.

"I advise you to save the little dignity you have left," Dominic coldly remarked. "For the sake of your child, stand your ground just like what you taught him."

His sarcasm only showed how one couldn't bend his decision. Dominic was a man with long patience. However, this time, he couldn't spare even the slightest sympathy and empathy for them. His son and wife got hurt at the hands of these people.

His pride as the man and pillar of this family found these instances unacceptable.

Dominic didn't work hard just so others could hurt his family. Call him merciless or arrogant, someone who abused his position. However, at the end of the day, he had a family to protect. He would go the extra mile to protect his family, even if that meant turning into a demon.

"No, no." The woman shook her head in panic, crawling to Heaven's feet to get even the slightest sympathy from her.

She already realized nothing could change Dominic's mind, but this woman might. Heaven was also a mother, after all. Heaven might understand her. Hopefully.

"Madam Zhu, I know I am wrong! But please, just this once, have mercy on us!" the woman clung to Heaven's pants, looking at Heaven with shaky and teary eyes. "I know you are not so heartless — this will not happen again. I swear I will discipline him properly this time! It's my fault! It's really my fault for not teaching him properly!"

Heaven could only stare down at her, slowly squatting down to look at the woman at eye level.

"I am not heartless?" Heaven repeated under her breath. "Madam, be grateful my husband is dealing with you and not me. If only you know what is going on in my head, you wouldn't even waste your time pleading but using this energy to run away."

She moved her face closer. "Of course, this won't happen again. My husband and I… will make sure of that." Heaven slowly pushed herself up, keeping her eyes on the woman before her.

"Out of our way." Heaven moved her feet to rid the hand clinging to her pants. "Let's go."

With that being said, the family of three departed the principal's office. The woman remained on the floor, feeling her heart sink as she knew this was only the start of a nightmare becoming reality. Meanwhile, the child could only look at his mother in dismay, not understanding why his mother had to beg on her knees when they did 'nothing' wrong.

The principal, on the other hand, could only stare at the door blankly. The teachers were on edge when the Zhu Family left the principal's office. They had to prepare for the worst.

Dominic still had commitments throughout the day. However, because of the incident, he had to move everything virtually so he could go home early with his wife and son. They first went to see a doctor to see if Sebastian was fine.

Fortunately, there weren't any major injuries, and that soothed Dominic and Heaven's hearts. The doctor only prescribed Sebastian some medicines for the pain. They went home right after that.

The three were quiet throughout. Heaven would constantly check on Sebastian, and he would keep reassuring her he was fine. Still, after taking the medicine, Sebastian eventually fell asleep. Dominic had to carry him back to his room to not wake him up.

"He will be fine," Dominic reassured, watching his wife lay on the edge of the bed where their son was sleeping. "If he was hurt, the doctor would've admitted him."

Heaven was propping her temple against her knuckles, eyes on her son's bruised face. "I… am angry, Dom," she whispered.

"More than my anger toward that kid and his mother, I am angrier at myself," she continued somberly. "He wouldn't pick on him if I was a better mom. Aside from the neglect he received from me, it opened up opportunities for others to hurt him."

Her eyes softened bitterly. "I feel sorry for Basti that he had to go through this because of me. Above all, I feel sorry for him because he has me as his mother."

Dominic opened his mouth but then closed them again. What should he say to make her feel better? He couldn't lie because what Heaven said was all true — facts. He huffed quietly, sitting on the edge of the bed beside her.

"It's not the end of the world." Dominic placed his hand on top of her, squeezing it to get her attention. The corner of his lips curled up subtly, nodding at her encouragingly. "We can't change the past, but good thing we live in the present. You can protect him now, and I'll be there every step of the way."

Heaven's eyes softened under her husband's sincerity, smiling back bitterly.

'You don't understand, Dom,' was what she whispered in her head. 'You have no idea how twisted my thoughts were at this very second. And why I feel sorry for Basti.'
