Crazy

In the life Hera lived, it wasn't an exaggeration to consider her a woman at the top of the world. Not only she was capable in every aspect of life, but she was also untouchable. No one had ever stood in her way and survived the catastrophe she was.  1

But today, in this body, she felt powerless for the first time.

The moment her eyes fell on Sebastian, she thought of countless ways to avenge and quench her anger. However, she couldn't. Even when she knew her son got hurt, she couldn't do anything but spew a few threats.

'At moments like this, I wish I was Hera.' Heaven lowered her head until the water in the bathtub was over her lips. She hugged her knees underneath the waters, recalling the arrogant child who hurt her son. 'If I were her, I would've done something.'

Lies.

Her face and body might be Heaven's, but her mind, heart, and soul were still hers. It was just that she was no longer the Hera she once knew. Of course, she was still fierce in her own way, but for the sake of her child, she couldn't mindlessly raise her hand.

Even if she had Sebastian as Hera, deep in her heart, she knew she would just let Dominic settle things. Although Dominic didn't allow anyone to talk him out of his decision, there was still this dissatisfaction in her heart.

Was she disappointed because she couldn't hurt that mother and child just like how they hurt her son? Or was her disappointment stemmed from the fact she wanted to hurt others?

Didn't Hera claim to have turned a new leaf?

If she was, then why was she so dissatisfied even when she knew Dominic would deal with them?

Her eyes lowered, gazing at her distorted reflection. 'Maybe I'm just deluding myself that I changed.'

'I underestimated the role of being a parent,'she admitted in her heart. 'As a mother, anything I'd do can affect my son. Somehow, I understand Mom.'

In the past, there was a time Hera would question her mother for letting others walk all over her. Aware that her mother was a fierce woman, she was disappointed whenever her mother would let things slide. She didn't understand it back then until she inherited the organization.

Back then, she thought the understanding she came up with was the answer.

That her mother allowed other things to slide because they weren't worthy of her attention. After all, there were other foolish people who would bravely challenge Hera, but instead of fighting back, she ignored them. But now, she had another deeper understanding.

Her mother was like that because she was a mother. She had to, at least, set an example for her daughter. Now, Hera was also a mother and thus, she simply couldn't do what she pleased without thinking if her actions would affect Sebastian.

It was a natural instinct of a mother.

'I hate being a role model for the good,'she recalled, thinking she had always been like that. 'Ugh… Hera, get yourself together.'

To get rid of the thoughts swarming in the puddles of her mind, Heaven dipped her entire body in the bathtub. She held her breath for as long as she could until her brain could only think of the lack of air.

Meanwhile, in Sebastian's room, Dominic stayed in the room after telling Heaven to calm down. Fortunately, Heaven listened as she went to take a bath, leaving him all alone to watch their son.

"Why… did you do that?" From the armchair beside Sebastian's bed, Dominic kept his eyes on Sebastian's sleeping face. "She's gone. No need to pretend."

A few seconds after Dominic spewed his remarks, Sebastian's eyes slowly cracked open. He turned his head to where his father was sitting, only to see Dominic staring at him coldly.

"Why did you let him hurt you?" repeated Dominic, not going around in circles as he wanted to hear his son's story.

Dominic might have been busy, but he never neglected his son. He might be out for days on a business trip, but there was never a day he wouldn't hear any updates about Sebastian. In other words, he knew his son very well.

Sebastian wasn't a weak child one could just bully. Even at the age of four, Sebastian could defend himself from kids like Little Yun. Therefore, to see Sebastian get hurt, Dominic knew there was something else in the story and not just as simple as a kid bullying another.

Sebastian slowly sat up, eyes fixed on his dad. "He stomped on the snacks my mother prepared."

Unlike the adorable and pitiful look he showed in front of his mother, there was nothing but coldness in his eyes. At this point, Sebastian looked exactly like his father. Unapologetic, cold, and intimidating.

"He crossed the line," he added coldly. "But if I give him another nosebleed, Mom might scold me."

Dominic figured.

"I'm really fine." Sebastian touched his slightly swollen face as if it didn't hurt. "His punches were weak, but I'm certain he'll have a fever from his injuries."

Although there weren't any injuries seen on Little Yun's face, it was intentional. Sebastian only hit the kid in spots one wouldn't see unless he was naked.

'I knew it.' A sigh slipped past Dominic's lips. 'He let that kid hurt him to leave a bruise to get his mother's sympathy.'

This was the very reason Dominic was concerned about his son's attitude. Sebastian was cunning and quite manipulative. He was a child who knew what he was doing, and someone who understood that before entering trouble, he needed an escape plan laid out.

"What am I going to do with you?" Dominic sighed once more, propping his knuckles against his jaw.

'Parenting is a hundred times more challenging if you're being like this.'

"You can withdraw your orders," Sebastian suggested, blinking. "My only goal is to not make Mom angry."

"In your attempt to not make her angry, you made her sad, worried, and guilty instead."

Sebastian pressed his lips into a thin line and lowered his head. "That's true. I should've just allowed him to punch me once."

"That's not my point." Dominic shook his head, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Are you going to withdraw your orders?" his son asked out of plain curiosity because Dominic now knew the result of the fight was planned.

"No."

"Why?"

Dominic dropped his hand from the bridge of his nose and cast his son a look. "Because that woman hurt your mother. I don't care whatever reasons she had or what compelled her to strike my wife, but what I am certain is it's not the same as your situation."

"Heaven wouldn't pull off anything like you did," he added with certainty. "Rest for now and apologize to your mother later."

If only Dominic knew.

"You will not tell her?"

"Do you want me to?" he asked and Sebastian immediately shook his head. "Don't pull off something like that again. Letting yourself get hurt will only hurt her."

"I understand that now…" Sebastian heaved a sigh of relief, thinking having an alliance with his dad wasn't so bad at all.

Little did Dominic and Sebastian know, while they were busy trying to maintain the good image they had in front of Heaven, she would have preferred the truth. Surely, they would get a giant thumbs up instead.
