[Bonus chapter]Shameless
There was a moment of silence between Heaven and Dominic, staring into each other's eyes as if that were the only way to understand their hearts. 2
[I didn't want to ruin what could last a lifetime.]
What a way to apologize.
Surely, he wasn't perfect. But, for sure, Dominic knew how to say the right things when necessary.
It was true Heaven already understood his intentions, but she couldn't help but get upset with him. However, she thought he would need time to think things through before he was ready to talk. Who would have thought he would take action immediately?
Even so, Heaven appreciated his transparency. That was the marriage she wanted the moment she decided to keep this marriage. If she was going to live as Heaven Liu, she wanted to live her life on her own terms. A life and marriage where she was not afraid of showing other emotions that could deem her as weak.
If she was going to change from her old ways and escape from her own prison, she needed a safe place where she could say she was living and not just existing.
A lifetime of promise… what a strange thing to hear.
Hera was used to hearing a lifetime of promises, but all of them were promises to bring her down. She made sure all those promises were nothing but empty. This was the only promise she wanted to happen.
A lifetime of togetherness.
"Man…" Heaven huffed quietly as the frustrations in her heart vanished. She snapped her tongue, snaking her arms around his body.
"I learned something today," she muttered, burying her face in his chest. "I realized that I can't get angry with you for a long time. Good thing you settled things. I'll be very sad if we sleep today, upset."
His face softened when she embraced him, sighing in relief as he hugged her back. "Thank you for listening."
"Gosh." She clicked her tongue once again, looking up at him with a pout. "I'm still upset, Dominic Zhu."
"What do you want me to do?" he gazed down, knowing she was simply acting to get whatever she wanted. Still, if she wanted something, he would get it for her. Whatever it was. All she had to do was tell him.
"Hmm…." she pondered, thinking deeply about how she could use this situation to her advantage.
Much to her dismay, Heaven couldn't think of anything! How was that possible?
"Are you okay?" Dominic cocked his head to the side, puzzled. "Why do you look so… shocked?"
"Honey, is it possible to be so content in life you cannot ask for more?" she wondered, in awe as she realized there was nothing she wanted in this life.
In the beginning, Heaven already decided to make Dominic and Sebastian her goal. Now that her relationship with her husband and son had become better, Heaven only realized she hadn't thought of a second goal.
If maintaining her good relationship with them was a second goal, then that was probably it. But other than that, she couldn't think of anything else. Getting a career to prove herself worthy didn't even cross her!
Where were her morals and pride?!
"I suddenly feel slothful." She frowned, sporting puppy eyes. "Are you going to get angry when I say I suddenly realized I just want to be a housewife and splurge my husband's money?"
Dominic blinked. "Should that make me angry?"
"Shouldn't it? I'm going to splurge your money. Your hard-earned money," she stressed, and Dominic didn't react. "I'm going to be a luxurious wife."
He nodded. "If that will make you happy."
"You're fine with it?"
"Money… I have tons of them," he remarked as if she wasn't aware. "Moreover, wasn't money meant to be spent? Buy whatever you want if that will make you happy."
"Wow… you are not saying that because we just made up, right?"
"Did I ever stop you from using your card?"
Now that he mentioned it, Heaven received a black card from him the moment her pregnancy came to their knowledge. It was just that the original Heaven had too much pride in her she didn't use her husband's money.
'That prideful B!' Heaven's face turned sour at the thought. 'She used all her life savings to pay off her previous agency, leaving her penniless. Did she think she can use pride as currency?'
Nevermind.
Though she had to understand the original Heaven and her reasons, the current Heaven just disapproved. Perhaps it was because Heaven was raised differently from Hera. Because for the latter, if there were other means to get something, why spend her hard-earned money?
Coming from a not-so morally person, that thought definitely came from the twisted beliefs in the underground.
"What are you thinking?" Dominic poked the tip of her nose, trying to get her attention. "I suddenly felt like my bank account was in danger."
"Gosh~! Is there a way to drain your bank account?" she playfully punched his chest, realizing she was not as poor as she thought she was.
"If you gamble, probably."
No way.
Heaven grinned, biting her tongue to stop herself from correcting him. It wasn't like Dominic was wrong, as countless people drained their pockets because of gambling addiction. But not her. Gambling was her way to earn easy money if she didn't want to use hers. Though she never lacked wealth, she constantly had to search for things in life that could give her high. Gambling was one of them.
"Anyway, Mr. Zhang will take the bodyguards here after dinner so you can choose." Dominic released her from his embrace, not bothered by their previous subject. "That's alright with you, right?"
"Of course!" Heaven nodded, flashing him a big bright smile. "For your peace of mind, no problem!"
Dominic smiled in satisfaction. "Very well. Let's have dinner with Basti. I'm famished." He planted a kiss on her forehead, pleased that they got no problem anymore.
Little did Heaven know, her confidence would soon get challenged as a person in the past would appear in the present. A person she dearly missed, but at the same time, the person she didn't wish to see ever again.
