Gray and Fig
0Outside the penthouse, the bodyguards couldn't help but glance at the newly hired bodyguards. They already heard about the addition to the team, recommended by the old man on the team. Knowing Bear, the bodyguards expected he was bringing some capable bodyguards to the team.0
However…
YAWN…
The bodyguards couldn't help but frown, staring at each other. The newly hired bodyguards seemed lousy. The only impressive addition so far was the woman named Princess, but the rest? They could only sigh.
One of the newly hired bodyguards was obviously overweight; they doubt he could even run properly if an emergency happened. He was munching some chips he hid in his pockets, thinking no one would notice he was eating during his shift.
Who wouldn't notice when he was munching so loud and some crumbs were falling on his suit?!
The other one, on the other hand, the one who had very unruly hair that made him appear he hadn't showered, kept yawning. He even fell asleep while standing, only waking up when he nearly fell to the floor. If not for the 'Fatty' who caught him, he would've fallen — face first.
That young-looking bodyguard wasn't that worse, though. Aside from his suspicious age that didn't match his youthful face, the other bodyguards hadn't noticed anything wrong with him. Compared to those two, he was pretty decent, just like Princess.
"Is this our job?" the wretched bodyguard yawned once again, tearing up as he felt genuinely bored. "All we have to do is stand here? Man… I should've known Moose was tripping."
"Shut up." Princess maintained her poise, hands on her back, chin up. "Write your resignation if you are that bored."
"This is why you don't land a proper job," said the youthful bodyguard, finger up. "I wouldn't even hire you if I were the employer. I mean, come on. You don't look reliable. How can I entrust my life to someone who doesn't even take care of himself? Have you even showered today?"
"What?!" the wretched bodyguard scrunched his nose up at the youth. "Do you smell anything? I showered last night, but I forgot to brush my hair!"
"No wonder I didn't smell anything rotten this morning." the youth smiled while the other one snapped his tongue in irritation.
"Fig, let me lean on you." the wretched bodyguard tugged the hem of his suit, leaning his side against the fatty named Fig. He folded his arms underneath his chest, crossing his feet, and closing his eyes.
Fig said nothing for a minute, chewing his food. "I like the food here. I might stay in this job."
Fig's remarks earned a strange look from his new and old colleagues. Was he not aware of how important their jobs were? And who was the person they were working for?
Even though they were simply standing and guarding the penthouse, their boss was still Dominic Zhu! The current head of the Zhu Family and the man at the helm of the LYON Group! Dominic Zhu was an important figure in business and the economy, so things could go wrong quickly.
How could this fatty named Fig could only think of how good their food was here? Instead of the honor of being a part of this team?
"You should go on a diet, Fig," the youth advised in a knowing tone. "We are in the penthouse. If something happened — for instance — an earthquake, I'm afraid you can't run properly to safety."
The other bodyguards who were listening couldn't help but nod in agreement.
"Not to mention, I'm concerned about your health," the youth continued worriedly. "You might die because of your own doing before a bullet does."
"At least, I get to eat all the delicious food in the world," Fig answered, rendering everyone speechless. "Don't worry about me, Gray. Even if something happens to me, my insurance will cover everything."
Not only the youth named Gray, but everyone looked at Fig in obvious dismay. The only person who didn't cast Fig the same look was Princess and the one who was sleeping against him. The rest were either amused at how careless Fig lived or concerned about his qualifications.
Anyone who was in this line of job should have at least even the slightest concern about their health and deep regard for their life. After all, their job was to protect their boss and his family. They not only need to be physically fit but also mentally stable. Fig lacked in those two areas.
"Man… whatever." Gray waved dismissively, raising his brows upon sensing heavy footsteps from the penthouse. "Ahem!"
Gray immediately recomposed himself, posing like Princess. Meanwhile, Fig also hid his snacks and pushed the other guy leaning against him.
"Ah —" the wretched bodyguard frowned, only to hear Fig tell him that the boss was coming out. The wretched bodyguard didn't even think, straightening his back while wiping the drool on the corner of his lips.
The rest of the bodyguards couldn't help but furrow their brows at the sudden change of air in those newly hired bodyguards. They only figured out why they did so when the entrance of the penthouse suddenly flew open.
CRASH!
Surprise immediately took over everyone's faces as a phone crashed into the wall. Their eyes slowly dilated, turning their heads in the door's direction, only to see the young madam standing by the door.
Heaven closed the door behind her with a bang, panting for air, eyes burning at the broken phone on the floor.
Uh…
All the bodyguards either had their jaw fall or pressed into a thin line. They looked at each other, only to get the same questioning eyes from each other.
What happened to the young madam?
"Hah…" Heaven hissed, balling her hands into a tight fist as if the phone did something unspeakable to her. Little did everyone know, the only reason Heaven broke her phone was her frustration and disappointment for herself.
'Time has already passed and I'm certain he already got our location. I should've been more careful,' she thought, grinding her teeth. She marched towards the phone, stomping her foot on it as if throwing it against the wall wasn't enough to reassure herself.
"..."
As Heaven went a little bit crazy, stomping on the phone without saying anything, the bodyguards couldn't help but create a bit of distance from her. Right now, she looked like she was genuinely losing her mind.
What happened?
"Wow…" Grey, the youth couldn't help but be in awe, watching their boss's wife destroy her phone. "... she cray cray. Just as Moose said."
Grey, Fig, Princess, and even the wretched bodyguard looked at her with slight interest. Obviously amused at her display than the rest of the bodyguards who found Heaven… unstable.
Little did everyone know, Bear just came out of the elevator after getting dragged by Axel. The moment he turned from the end of the hallway, his brows creased. His eyes fell on the thing that she was destroying, making him wonder what happened.
Why did she look angry? Or rather, alarmed?
At this time, Bear had no clue until someone from the past would appear in the present. o
