fvck off

"Well, I only met that kid once, so I can't remember her face that much. She said she didn't have friends as well, so she suddenly adopted me to be one of her people just because we were around the same age. I never met her again, but I've always wished to meet her so I can thank her for saving me."1

Dominic's brows rose when he felt a mild pinch on his side. Turning his head, the smile on his face faded as soon as his gaze landed on his wife's pair of burning eyes.

"You should shut up, Dominic Zhu," Heaven warned in a low tone. "I'm getting jealous. Do you want to meet her? Hah. Dominic Zhu, do you want to get in trouble?"

"Is this pinch… supposed to be like a weapon?"

"I'll pinch you harder if you say something stupid."

Dominic pressed his lips into a thin line, assessing her countenance. For some reason, the corner of his lips curled up in satisfaction.

"There's no need to be jealous," he remarked in a light tone, letting her pinch his side while holding her shoulders. "I want to see her because if not for her, I wouldn't have met you. She saved my life, but I never got to thank her for it."

His lips stretched into a fine smile. "I think you look cute when you're jealous."

"Gosh." Heaven clicked her tongue while he pressed his thumbs on the side of her mouth, forcing a smile on her face.

After listening to his explanation, the story Miriam told her before suddenly crossed her mind.

That story where Dominic was abducted for ransom, only to find out his beloved uncle orchestrated it. Although he didn't say it directly, she assumed that was what he meant when he said a girl saved him.

"How can a child save another child from danger?" she muttered out of pure curiosity. To avoid the suspicion that she already knew about the story, she added. "What? Did she lend you a pencil sharpener and saved you from getting zero in your exams?"

"Haha." He laughed once again, retrieving his thumb from the side of her lips. "How I wish that is the case, but I was put in a tight position as a child. Until now, I never got the answer to how a child saved another child. However, she did."

"How?"

Dominic just smiled at her. "No idea." he shook his head. "All I remember is I woke up near the subdivision of the main residence, where I walked my way home."

"That's like… dumping a dead body."

"Haha. What?"

"Uh. Never mind." Heaven forced a smile while shaking her head. "But well, that's what happened. Still, I wanted to thank her for it, but never mind. If I see her, I will, but if I don't, then there's nothing I can do."

"Well." Heaven raised her brows and shrugged. "Maybe she's your guardian angel."

"That's silly, but there were days I wonder if she was even real."

Heaven studied his face and then cupped it. "Whether she's an angel or the devil, what matters is you're here."

"That's right." The smile on his face returned, nodding. "That's what matters."

And just like that, they moved on from their discussion and put the topic behind their mind. They then watched their son and his friend until Dane Zhang came back with good news. Thus, the family of three went to celebrate this day with Riley.

Good thing Dominic cleared his schedule and was able to spend the entire day with his family. Of course, since there was another kid on the boat, both Heaven and Dominic were curious. Riley was very cute and bubbly, and the longer they stayed with him, both parents realized how Riley idolized Sebastian to the point it was a little concerning.

Either way, their day went by peacefully. After having a meal and going to a water park, they dropped off Riley at his home before they went home to continue their family time.

*******

While the family of three continued their family day in the penthouse, Bear clocked out early. Not because Hera, now in Heaven's body, was living a life full of rainbows and butterflies, didn't mean her plans weren't in motion.

"Old man, what's up with you?" Tiger narrowed his eyes suspiciously, gazing at Bear across from him. "Why did you suddenly drag us here?"

Tiger looked around the nightclub where Bear dragged them to. "This place looks fancy. Man. How much are you getting paid?"

"Probably double than ours?" Gray guessed, around the same table as them. "Considering he was working directly for the madam, and he was her only bodyguard, I'm sure he gets paid more."

"At least, he doesn't get to eat more," Fig chimed in, already rubbing his stomach as he waited for the food without caring for their ordered drinks.

"Unlike you guys, who spend their paycheck the moment you get it, I don't. So I thought I should treat you since you've been doing well in your job," explained Bear nonchalantly, earning more suspicious looks from the three guys.

"Bullshit!" Tiger narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "Just tell us the damn reason or I'll leave."

Bear glossed his eyes over their faces. It was obvious the three of them didn't buy his petty lie. Who would believe that?! They'd probably believe it if that remark came from Tiger, but from Bear? There was nothing to satisfy this old man, especially in their current line of work.

If they were in Reapers, maybe, but as bodyguards or soldiers? Never in nine hells.

"Fine." Bear threw his hands in surrender. "I came here to warn someone."

"Ohh…" Tiger's mouth formed an 0-shape while the rest rocked their heads in understanding. He leaned forward, arms on the table, eyes swirling with intrigue.

"Who is this motherfucker who needs scolding from the old man?" asked Tiger with a crafty smirk on his face. "Need help? I'm free."

"No need." Bear maintained a straight face. "Just being here is enough."

Bear blinked ever so tenderly, moving his gaze in a particular direction. There, a man with a group of men was walking in a different direction.

Bear's shift of attention earned his colleague's interest, turning their heads to where he was looking.

Primo's steps slowed down when he felt this dangerous gaze cast upon him. When he turned his head, still walking at a slow pace, his eyes landed on the corner table. It was a little dark in Bear's spot, but somehow, the flashing lights of the nightclub granted him a glimpse of some dangerous animals eyeing him.

'Those guys…'his steps halted as soon as he recognized the old man in the group. 'Hah. Heaven Liu. How did she pick the perfect scarecrow to scare me off? She impresses me more and more.'

The corner of Primo's mouth curled up into a smirk, resuming in his steps. His eyes flickered menacingly, understanding the message Heaven Liu sent just now.

Fvck off.

That was what she meant by sending Bear to this place. Bear didn't need to say anything, after all. Primo didn't acknowledge the rest but knew he had to keep his distance from Dominic and Heaven for the time being.

However, Heaven seemed to forget that Primo found the danger signs exciting.

Or did she?
