Thick smoke ascended into the air as the car made a turn, leaving tire marks on the road. Both Heaven and Axel bent and pulled back due to the gravity force, stopping as the vehicle halted for a moment. 

Vroom!

Axel revved up the engine, keeping his hands securely on the steering wheel. His eyes were ahead, seeing that those guys who had been following them were gone. He could've sighed in relief since he finally got rid of those people, but no. All thanks to his sister-in-law. 

"Just tell me one thing." He breathed out a jagged breath, facing her squarely. "Are you sure you will not be in trouble if you confront those guys?"

She blinked ever so tenderly while holding his gaze. "Hundred — no, two hundred percent."

"How?"

"Hmm?"

"How will you fight them?" he asked, planting his hand across his chest. "Sis, I can throw punches, but against a group of five people, I am not very confident myself! I can help, but not much! How are you sure you will not get hurt?"

'Wow…'Heaven assessed his face and the thousand unspoken words gleaming in his shaky eyes. 'For someone as arrogant as him to admit those things… he surely has some balls to admit he isn't perfect. I think I'm liking this little brother-in-law more than I thought I would.'

"How?" she repeated in a questioning tone, unbuckling her seat while keeping her eyes on him. "Let's switch places and I'll show you how."

Heaven didn't wait for him to speak as she already stepped out of the vehicle. Meanwhile, Axel could only watch her through the windshield as she walked around and then knocked on the driver's seat. 

"Go." Her voice was muffled, pointing at the passenger seat. 

"What…" Axel murmured as he opened the door on his side, puzzled. "You will drive?"

"You want to know how I'd do it, right?" Heaven cocked her head to the side, resting her arm over the car door. She jerked her chin toward the passenger seat as she added, "Come on. Make yourself comfortable over there."

Axel's lips parted, a bit baffled. He didn't even know how and what compelled him to listen to her in the first place, even when he crawled to the passenger seat. 

"Buckle up," she remarked as soon as she sat in the driver's seat, snapping him back from his trance.

"Huh?"

"Seriously…" Heaven sighed, getting a bit annoyed at how many times she had to repeat herself today. "Did you hear me or not?"

"Ahh…" Axel, still a little in a daze, mindlessly buckled up his seat. He wasn't even sure if he did it correctly, getting even more confused than he already was. 

If this was a dream, Axel deeply wished to wake up right at this moment. 

Just how did this day turn out like this?!

They were just supposed to pick up a limited edition car and enjoy it before Dominic would display it in his collection room. Joining an illegal street race and anticipating a brawl was never in the plan! At least, that didn't cross them when Heaven knocked on his apartment door. 

Axel blinked hard as he moved his shaking eyes to her, watching her check the gauge and other things as if she knew every single one of its uses. 

"Didn't you say you don't drive?" he mumbled, making her glance at him. "That's why you asked me to test-drive the car this morning?"

Heaven looked up for a second and pondered. "I never said that."

"What?"

"I just said I need someone else to test-drive it because I was lazy. I didn't say I can't drive."

"But you said you don't know much about engines and cars."

'Uh… I guess I did.'Heaven bit her tongue, thinking of an excuse. "Really? Did I say that?"

Axel frowned. "Were you lying?"

"I wasn't." Heaven shrugged him off indifferently, stepping on the pedal to check how much control she needed to use. "Anyway, fix your seatbelt and hold tight."

"Oh." Axel blinked and shook his head to get himself together, removing his seatbelt to put it on securely this time. 

"Anyway, did all those guys hurt you?" she asked, making him raise his head to her side profile again.

"Uh… well."

"About that Mister M, did he take part in it?" she followed up even before he could give her a proper answer."

"No." Axel cleared his throat. "To be honest, it's because of Mr. M they stopped."

This time, Heaven looked at him with an arched brow.

"He intervened, so… I was a little grateful to him. If he didn't come, I wasn't actually sure if I could go home that night."

"I see." Heaven rocked her head in satisfaction and slight relief. 'If that is the case, then good. At least he hadn't lost his head.'

She knew Moose just the way she knew Bear. Moose was ambitious and smart. But unlike Bear, who stayed with her out of loyalty, Moose stayed because working under Hera had more perks than cons. Even though her enemies were powerful, it was better to be her ally than her enemy. 

Still, those were the times before Moose eventually pledged his full loyalty to Hera. 

Even so, she wouldn't hesitate to teach Moose a lesson if she learned that he took part in beating Axel. Be it then or now, it didn't matter if she was Hera or Heaven Liu. Her principles would remain and her men were her responsibility even after death. 

Vrooom!

Heaven drew a deep breath as she closed her eyes, opening and closing her grip on the steering wheel. When she reopened her eyes, a glint flashed across them. She stepped on the pedal, speeding away to find those guys and settle scores with them.

And in no time, Heaven caught two vehicles from the distance. One of them was just parked in the middle of the road, while the other — the one Heaven got in — was almost off the road. When the people noticed the incoming car, they turned their heads and instantly recognized whose vehicle it was.

"Hah! Those motherfuckers! Hey!" the man with the mohawk, who was idling on the bumper, snapped his finger at the other man. "Get my bat. I'm going to break his fucking legs this time."
