[Bonus chapter]Tighten your stomach
"Sis… what should I do? I'm done for."2
Even without the original Heaven's memories, her time spent with Axel was enough to know what sort of person Axel was. Even though this guy was childish as hell and too arrogant for his own good, he had countless redeemable qualities.
One of those qualities was his pride in being independent. From what she heard from Dominic, Axel wasn't just getting any allowance from the family. It wasn't as easy as it appeared, though he still had some benefits being a Zhu.
Axel was actually a president of a subsidiary company of the LYON Group, earning everything on his own. One could easily invalidate that fact just because he was part of the Zhu family, but Dominic himself asserted Axel was one of the most hardworking people he had ever met.
Axel wasn't used to asking for other people's help. He lived alone, took care of himself even when he was sick, funded his lifestyle, and did all sorts of things that any individual person had to endure on their journey of independence.
For him to uncover all the countless layers in front of Heaven only meant one thing: desperation.
And that… was something she was so familiar with, as she had seen the desperation in countless people's eyes before her.
Seeing the fear and desperation dominating his face, Heaven's heart sank.
"You…" she breathed out the heaviness in her heart, raising a hand as she moved to reach his head. "... stay here."
"What?"
"Didn't you ask me what you should do?" Heaven forced a smile in an attempt to take away even the portion of his fear. "Then stay here, hmm? Don't worry. I will repeat this one last time; they touched my brother, and now, they get a piece of me."
She ruffled his hair briefly before retrieving her hand, unbuckling her seat, and without a second hesitation, she stepped out of the vehicle. Only when she slammed the door did Axel snap out of his trance, moving his unblinking eyes to her figure as she marched toward those guys.
"Sis…" Axel whispered, reaching for the door handle to follow her. However, just as he did, his body trembled uncontrollably. His face crumbled in regret as he couldn't move his feet. Even if his brain was screaming at himself not to let her go out there alone, his legs wouldn't listen.
His fear and deep shame… had paralyzed him.
'Useless…'he clenched his teeth, catching up to his breathing as his heart raced at a speed he could barely catch.
Meanwhile…
"If you don't want the world…" The man with a mohawk cleared his throat when Heaven hitched outside the vehicle. He narrowed his eyes, glancing at the windshield to check if Axel moved to the driver's seat. As soon as he saw Axel cowering in the passenger seat, the man sneered.
'Heh.'the man raised his chin as he dragged his feet back on the road. "Haha. Missy, I told you. Don't go with him because —"
"What is that thing you were shouting about?" Heaven didn't let him finish his nonsense as she delved straight into her point. "What do you guys have on him?"
"Hehe. You're quite rude. That damn tongue of yours will make you regret." The man snickered, casting the other woman a look. "Hey! What is taking you so long?!"
"Wait!" the woman yelled back before she straightened her back, getting half of her body out of the car.
Meanwhile, the other guys also looked at Heaven with great contempt. Now that she was outside, they had more confidence to walk closer. Seeing that they were closing in, Heaven just arched her brow and glanced at them indifferently.
"Here!" the woman rushed to the man with a mohawk and handed him her phone. The latter smirked viciously, looking at Heaven with such malice.
"What's in there?" she asked under her breath, having all sorts of ideas surging in her mind.
The group smirked, chuckling maliciously. "Well, it's really nothing."
"Nothing?" Heaven took a deep breath and huffed, unclenching her fist as she cleared her head. "How much?"
When she reopened her eyes, she repeated once again. "I don't care whatever is in there. All I want is the file. That's it. Just tell me how much and let's end this peacefully."
"Pfft—!" the man with a mohawk burst out in laughter along with his lackeys.
"Oy, you little bitch, do you think it's as easy as that?" the man whom Heaven broke his nose scowled. "Can't you fucking see what you did, huh?"
Heaven just glanced at him indifferently. There was smeared blood on his upper lips, but she didn't care. She simply hurt him a bit when she could do way worse than that. He should be grateful.
"This bitch thinks she's the shit!" another rogue remarked sarcastically, making the woman glare at her.
"Just because you have a pretty face. Let's see if you can still be so arrogant once I ruin that face," the woman grumbled, holding her arms underneath her chest.
The man with a mohawk snapped his eyes, shrugging. "Miss, it's not as easy as that. You see, if you only asked nicely, we can negotiate! But because of you and that arrogant prick, negotiating is hard! Why did you have to break my friend's nose, huh?"
"Not only that, but you also tried to kill us!" the man strutted toward Heaven until he was a step away. He looked at her up and down, licking his lips maliciously. "This world isn't all rainbows and butterflies. Not everything can be fixed with money, Miss. But because I'm kind, we might come to terms."
His brows rose, giving her a perverted look. At the same time, he raised the phone and played the clip he had on Axel. As soon as the recording's sound reached her ears, Heaven slowly shifted her eyes to the screen.
"Ahh… haha! You got a nice ass, pretty boy!" was the same guy's voice in the recording.
Heaven's heart sank the moment she recognized the person in the clip. For a moment, her brain stopped functioning rationally as this rage slowly grew solid in her heart.
"So?" the man spoke wickedly, watching her move her pair of empty eyes to him. "What services can you offer to keep this video from the public, Miss?"
Heaven didn't answer immediately as she studied this man's face.
"Dom… Basti… it seemed Mommy can't come home because she'd be too busy burying some bodies tonight," she whispered, but before the man could even absorb what she had said, she added. "Hey, tighten your stomach."
The man barely processed her last remarks when a hand suddenly grabbed his collar and pulled him down. Her knee instantly landed on his abdomen, taking his breath for a second.
