[Bonus chapter]I wonder where he was
Days later…2
"Basti, should we play?" Heaven cupped her cheeks, watching Sebastian do his school activity on the coffee table.
"That's right. Let's go somewhere, little ancestor." Across from Heaven and Sebastian was Axel, who was doing exactly the same as Heaven. "I'm so bored… what is that you're doing, by the way?"
Sebastian sighed as he stopped, lifting his gaze to his mother and uncle. "Uncle, you should stop going here. You're influencing my mother."
"What?" Axel scrunched his nose up in dismay. "If someone is influencing who, that is her!"
"Basti, don't mind your uncle, but I think his lazy attitude is really affecting me," mumbled Heaven, warranting a glare from Axel. "Or maybe because I'm on my period."
"Is that something you should say in front of your child?!"
Heaven cast Axel a nonchalant look. "Ah. My bad."
"My goodness." Axel clicked his tongue and then set his gaze back on Sebastian. "Wha — what? Why are you glaring at me?"
Sebastian didn't say anything as he faced his mother. "Mommy, I'm tired. Can you help me?"
"Aww. My baby is tired. How about you rest first? And then I'll help you with your activity later?" She offered, pushing herself away from the coffee table. "Come here. Lie down on Mommy's lap — or we can watch a movie together!"
"Together… meaning just the two of us?"
"Hmm!!"
"Oy. How about me?" Axel straightened his back and slapped the edge of the table. "I'm also here!"
"Uncle, don't you have work to do?" Sebastian frowned, looking back at him with disinterest. "My Dad is always busy with work. Don't you have a company to run? Why are you always here?"
"That's right." Heaven nodded. "Dominic is so busy during the day while his little brother has all the time in the world."
She looked at Axel with slight judgment. "This world is truly unfair."
"You two…" Axel frowned, darting his eyes between Heaven and Sebastian. "I'm working at night, okay?! I finish everything before the day ends! Gosh. Why do you have to make me feel so bad about idling?"
"Well, considering your company is a small one, I guess I shouldn't expect that you'd be as busy as my dad." Sebastian shrugged before facing Heaven. "Mommy, can we watch some documentaries? I was told I can only watch it with a guardian."
"A documentary?" Heaven bit her tongue, stopping herself from telling him they should watch cartoons. That was what she had in mind since she enjoyed those more.
"Mhm. About animal kingdom."
"Ohh…" Heaven rocked her head, telling herself to choose her son's happiness before hers. "Alright! Let's watch it, but if there's inappropriate content, we'll have to watch cartoons."
"Okay."
With that being said, Heaven helped Sebastian organize his stuff and clean the table. Meanwhile, Axel just watched the mother and son duo in disbelief.
"Won't you really invite me?" he asked, a bit disheartened at their treatment toward him.
"Do you want to watch the documentary?" Heaven cocked her head to the side while Sebastian watched innocently.
"Well, it wouldn't be that bad, right? I like animals!"
"If Uncle wants to come, then you can." Sebastian shrugged and flashed Heaven a smile. "Right, Mom? Uncle can join if he wants to."
"Of course." Heaven smiled back, nodding. "Come on. I'll ask Miriam to prepare some snacks."
As Heaven carried Sebastian's stuff and Sebastian followed his mother, Axel cocked his head to the side.
"What's with his change of mood?" he wondered to himself. "Well, maybe he felt bad for his uncle."
Axel didn't think much about it, shrugging it off. He languidly followed the two to the small entertainment room in the penthouse. He helped set things up, perching on the long couch while Heaven and Sebastian cozied up in the other.
Just as Sebastian wished, they watched the documentary he wanted to watch. It wasn't anything special as it was just a casual documentary, but somehow, it grabbed Heaven's attention. When she and Sebastian were immense in what they were watching, the snoring distracted Heaven.
"Huh?" she turned her head, only to see Axel had dozed off on the couch. "Gosh. Look at him."
'Heh.' Sebastian, on the other hand, smirked. 'I knew he'd fall asleep.'
"He's a bit loud." The moment Heaven faced her son, Sebastian's innocence dominated his face. "Should I raise the volume?"
"It's okay, mommy." He smiled brightly. "His snoring isn't that loud, so I'm okay. Should we watch something else instead?"
"Huh? But you said you want this one?"
"Yes, but now that I've seen it, I think it's boring."
"Is it?" Heaven blinked. "What do you want to watch, then?"
"How about… some cartoons? Like Tom and Jerry?"
"Tom and Jerry?!" Her eyes lit up. Even though she found the documentary interesting as it was more about how predators hunt their prey, watching cartoons was still at the top of her heart.
"Okay!" the corner of her lips stretched from ear to ear, reaching for the remote to change the one they were watching.
Watching her giddily search up the cartoon, Sebastian smiled in satisfaction. He had spent enough time with his mother to know that these sorts of documentaries would snag her interest. However, it would definitely make his uncle doze off.
'At least, he wouldn't keep disturbing my time with my mommy.' Sebastian leaned back comfortably, satisfied that he would get time with his mother alone. After all, Axel had been tailing Heaven so much so that even Miriam found it strange how Axel suddenly grew fond of Heaven overnight.
It did not surprise Dominic and Sebastian, though. Heaven was truly a wonderful person. Even Axel would want her attention and affection. Still, this fact didn't sit well with the two.
"Here!" Heaven squeezed herself with Sebastian, keeping him within her embrace as they cozily watched cartoons.
It had been several days since that night had happened. And meaning, it had been several days since Bear was last seen. They heard he was on leave, but somehow, without him, Heaven felt bored.
'I wonder where he was now?'she wondered in the middle of watching. 'Now that I think about it, it was during this time when I died.'
