When Heaven left the set on the first day, Paula thought her life would go back to normal. Even though it was annoying she had to wait for hours and even got her scenes canceled, she let it slide. It only happened once, after all. Therefore, she thought that was okay. 1
However, she thought wrong.
Even though Heaven wasn't needed in the set, her effect ran deep into the production. The impact Heaven left from her first scene with Leo set the bar, and thus, the pressure and expectation from Paula were unfathomable. Heaven and Leo's chemistry impacted Paula's chemistry with her leading man.
Everyone in the production couldn't say it in front of her, but they weren't discreet in their gossip. Paula had to stay in the set, listening to everyone comparing her and Heaven. Even Director Guan was very dissatisfied with her scenes with Leo, which had built quite a tension in the entire production.
"Ugh!!" Paula plopped her butt down in her seat in her private dressing room. "This is so annoying!"
She ground her teeth in irritation, gripping the armchair tightly. "Why do they treat her differently when she's just a supporting character?"
"Miss Paula…"
"Get out!" Venting her anger at her staff, Paula growled at her makeup artist, who simply wanted to retouch her makeup. "Get out and leave me alone! You useless little thing!"
The makeup artist's breath hitched, looking at Paula with clear fear in her eyes. "Uh…"
"What are you still doing?! Didn't you hear me?!"
"Uh, yes. I'm sorry." The makeup artist held her tears back, lowering her head as she quietly leave Paula alone.
"You all leave me alone!" Paula roared as she glanced at everyone in the private dressing room.
Just like the makeup artist, all of her lackeys quietly left the dressing room. They knew Paula was short-tempered and had a diva attitude, but she always knew how to control herself in front of others. But since the filming started, her attitude had grown worse.
"Stupid people." Paula huffed when she was left alone, staring at herself in front of the mirror. "Stupid movie."
Just because she wasn't dolled up well, unlike Heaven's character, everyone thought she was a pushover. Paula explored all reasons, big and small, for why everyone treated Heaven differently.
"That bitch…" her grip on the armrest tightened. "Just what did she do to take everyone on her side?"
Her eyes glinted menacingly, blaming Heaven for everything. If not for Heaven, things would be a lot better for Paula.
"That stupid Leo Wu as well… everyone here is blind," she muttered, almost drowning in anger when her phone lit up. Her brows rose as the fire in her eyes slowly distinguished.
Paula bent over to pick up her phone in the vanity mirror. The moment she saw the name of the person who sent her a message, the side of her lips curled up.

Hey, Beautiful. How is the set going? I hope things are good.]
"He's the only one who cares," she whispered, leaning back as she relaxed on the chair.

It's bad. That woman is here.]

Oh. So, I guess my prayers that you'd have a wonderful day weren't heard today. :(]

It's annoying. It's like she is poisoning everyone.]
[From: 1
Or maybe everyone is just blind.]

I don't know. I'm really upset. Director Guan will scold me harshly if I did the smallest mistake. But she had been messing up her scene countless times! Yet, he didn't even scold her just as harshly. If he is biased, he shouldn't make it so obvious! They should've gotten a different lead if they're going to treat me this way.]
Paula huffed as she vent out her frustration at the man she called Mr. 1. This man was someone she met in the private resort during the first day of filming. He introduced himself as the owner of the resort. At first, Paula was a bit wary of him. However, after talking to him for a bit, she immediately got comfortable with his company.
She even had a fancy dinner with him, riding in his limousine, and now, constantly exchanging messages with him. It goes to show how comfortable she had become with him since he was the only person who didn't judge her and even believed that Paula was better than Heaven.

I am on a business trip and it sucks that I am not there to accompany you.]
Paula frowned. "I know you're out of the country," but her eyes softened as that little gesture made her feel better.
[From: 1
But if I finished this early, I might be able to pick you up.]
A smile turned up on Paula's face as all the anger in her heart disappeared with just a few words from him. This man was truly the only person who was trying, the only person who was seeing her worth and value.
[To: 1
It's alright if you can't. I feel a lot better now that I already vent out my frustration. Thank you for listening. I know you are busy, but you still make time for me.]
"Miss Shen?"
Just as Paula sent her message, a voice from outside the tent reached her ears. She turned around, arching a brow at seeing her assistant.
"Uhm. Miss Paula? A delivery came for you," said the assistant warily, scared Paula would throw things at her.
"A delivery?" her eyes fell on the bouquet in her assistant's embrace and then she heard a ping.
DING!
[From: 1
Fortunately, I ordered a flower today just to make sure you'll have a wonderful day.]
As soon as Paula saw that message, her smile completely returned. She accepted the flower and sniffed it, smiling while blushing.
"Leave." Paula glanced at her assistant, and the latter didn't hesitate to listen. The assistant didn't want to ruin her mood.
"He's really sweet. Dominic can't compare." Paula giggled, hugging the bouquet before typing back.
[To: 1
Thank you. I feel much better now.]

Anything for you.]
