[Bonus chapter]He sure knows how to test my patience

When Heaven came into Axel's apartment, she understood why Bear was making such a face. Standing by the living area, Heaven let out a deep exhale.0

"He's been like this?" she asked Bear quietly. 

"Yes." Bear stopped several steps beside her, eyes on the person laying on the couch in the living room. "He was upset with the master and the little master and dragged me with him, saying I am his only friend."

"Friend?" Heaven glanced at Bear, only to see him shrug. 

Since when did Axel and Bear become friends? To be honest, Bear also didn't know. But that was Axel's words. 

"Goodness." Heaven shook her head as she set her eyes on Axel. "Look at him. He ordered so much food and now he's in a food coma."

BURP!

Both Heaven and Bear scrunched their nose up as Axel burped so loudly. Although they didn't smell anything, their expression said otherwise. They could imagine what it smelled like. 

"I am lost for words," she mumbled, shaking her head in disbelief. She came here for a reason, but she didn't expect Axel to try to kill himself by overeating. Not to mention, he even dragged Bear, considering Bear just came back from his vacation leave.

"I'll just come back tomorrow," she muttered, realizing she wasn't emotionally available to coax her brother-in-law. Heaven had so many more important things to do than this. After all, she might have finally met the mastermind behind Andrea Ng's crime. 

"You're going to leave him?" Bear frowned, looking at her as if he expected her to save him from this situation. 

"You're his only friend." Heaven shrugged. "Moreover, it's better to stay here than stand outside the penthouse all night."

Bear pressed his lips into a thin light while his jaw tightened. She had a point. But he would rather mind his business than watch Axel eat his sorrows away. Heaven should understand he was too old to babysit a child trapped in a man's body. 

"It's okay, Bear." Heaven flashed Bear a smile, walking closer to him to pat his chest. "Take this as a welcoming party for you. You were gone for far too long, after all."

Did she mean it was his punishment for extending his vacation?

"Have fun." Heaven raised a fist to cheer him on, leaving quietly so as not to disturb Axel. But alas…

"Sis?"

'Shit.'

Axel blinked his weary eyes, watching Heaven turn around to look at him. The moment they locked eyes with each other, Axel's eyes slowly dilate with life. "Sis!! You're here!" 

"Hah…" Heaven sported a complicated look while Bear looked away. "You better hold that in, Bear."

Bear bit his tongue to hold his laughter in, clearing his throat. When he raised his eyes, Axel had already scurried toward his sister-in-law.

"Sis, you're here!" Axel clasped her hand as his face slowly crumpled. "Do you know your husband and son bullied me!?"

"Huh?" Heaven cocked her head to the side, watching Axel weep as he went on to complain.

"Those two are so cruel and always act as if I am not a family member! I was just there to hang out with them, but they kept telling me I was a nuisance! I would've left if they asked nicely, but they keep saying I'm such an eyesore! They even said you don't want to see my face ever! Huhu!" Axel wept as he dramatically hugged Heaven like a child. "Sis, you should put them in their place! Tell them they shouldn't be so hard on me…!"

Axel continued on and on, sliding down until he was just hugging her leg. Meanwhile, Heaven had to listen with a poker face. 

'Goodness. Just what sort of drama did I get into?' Heaven pinched the bridge of her nose, eyes shut. 'I will never ever come here again. No matter how important it was, never mind.'

A slight smile turned up on Bear's face as he darted his eyes between Heaven and Axel. The latter was still crying without tears, asking for Heaven's help to save him from Dominic and Sebastian's oppression. 

This was what Bear had to endure before Heaven came. 

"Can you please grow up?" Heaven clicked her tongue in irritation, moving her feet, but to no avail. Axel held onto it like a kid. "Oh, my god."

Heaven let out a sigh, fishing her phone out of her purse.

Hubby, I'm in Axel's place. Will go up once he's calmed down.]

"Axel, let go." Heaven moved her feet once again, but his dramatic weeping continued. 

"Sis, don't go as well." Axel slowly looked up, sporting a puppy look. "Can you stay with me? I'm really upset and since your husband and son are so cruel, stay here for a moment."

Heaven ran her tongue across her inner cheek. "Fine. I'll stay for a while, okay? So, can you please let me go?"

"Really?" Axel narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "My friend Bear will stop you from going out."

"Are you planning to hold me here illegally?"

"No!!" Axel let her go immediately, jumping up in front of her. "I'm just saying Bear wants to hang out too! He hadn't eaten anything."

"I've had dinner —"

"Shhh!" Axel raised a hand to stop Bear from speaking. He then planted both his hands across his chest, looking at Heaven kindly. "Sis, just stay here for a while, okay? Living alone can be very lonely sometimes, so I'll really appreciate it if you keep me company."

Heaven looked him straight in the eye. "If you're going to pretend to cry, at least forced out a tear or two." She shook her head, shrugging dismissively. 

"Fine. I think I'm also hungry. You have something nice over there?" she continued, changing the topic as she thought Axel would be a great distraction to clear her head. 

"Yes, of course! I ordered all kinds of food! What do you want? Mexican? Korean? Western dish? Come come! You two Bear. Please feel at home." Axel giddily ushered Heaven to the living area, motioning his hand to Bear for him to come as well. Based on his actions, it seemed this was the first time in a long time someone came to visit him. Thus, he was very welcoming.

[PENTHOUSE]

Meanwhile, Dominic and Sebastian were idling in the family room as they waited for Heaven. 

Bzzt!

Dominic languidly picked up his phone from the coffee table. As he leaned back, he immediately opened the message from his wife.

[Hubby, I'm in Axel's place. Will go up once he's calmed down.]

Dominic's expression immediately turned sour, glancing at his son on the couch. Sebastian was reading a book to kill time. 

"Your mother is being detained," said Dominic bluntly, but no reaction from the little master. 

"I'll pretend I didn't hear you or else she'd be disheartened if she knew I heard she was detained," Sebastian replied after a moment, keeping his attention on the book on his lap. "I'm not interested."

"By your uncle."

This time, Sebastian paused. He slowly raised his head to his father, bearing the same icy countenance. "He sure knows how to test my patience."
