[Bonus chapter]You can always rely on your brother-in-law!
[I will drop off Basti today. So, just rest, my love. Do not worry about anything anymore.]1
Heaven smiled, sitting on the edge of the bed while reading a note Dominic left on the bedside table. She overslept, thanks to Dominic for keeping her up late and exhausted.
"I trust him," she whispered, rereading the note for the umpteenth time. "He's always so considerate. How did he know whenever I needed some time alone?"
Knock knock
Heaven glanced up as the door opened from the outside. Miriam peeked her head in before opening the door wider.
"Young Madam, are you feeling well now?" asked Miriam, carrying the tray inside. "The master told me that you weren't feeling well, so he told me to prepare you breakfast in bed."
Heaven chuckled as Miriam placed the tray on the bedside table, moving the table to the side of the bed.
"I'm okay, Miriam. Dom is just worried, but I'm okay." Heaven watched Miriam finish the table. "Anyway, I guess breakfast in bed isn't so bad. Isn't he sweet?"
Miriam smiled in satisfaction. "The master just cares for you so much, young madam."
"He does." Heaven's eyes fell on the breakfast. Dominic might've not prepared it himself, but it was already sweet of him to instruct Miriam to take care of her.
'That is why I can sacrifice all my limbs for him,' she thought, smiling even brighter.
"Thank you for this, Miriam." Heaven snapped her eyes up to Miriam. "Don't worry about me anymore. I feel much better now."
"Very well. Please rest for today. " Miriam lowered her head, leaving the master's bedroom to give Heaven privacy and space.
Dominic's instruction was to let Heaven rest and not make her do any chores at home. Not that they haven't tried stopping Heaven from helping with house chores, but Heaven always insisted. Heaven would always use the excuse that she had nothing else to do. Therefore, she took it upon herself that the kitchen was her job.
When Miriam left, Heaven smacked her lips. Her eyes glossed over the breakfast but didn't eat immediately. Instead, she grabbed her phone that was charging on the bedside table. When it was within her grasp, she sat in front of the food with the phone in her hands.
"Good thing I installed the smaller version of the emperor's eyes," she mumbled, eating with her eyes fixed on the phone.
Heaven searched up Primo, digging for any information about the man. There was a reason Heaven told Dominic about the man, aside from Dominic's safety. Knowing Dominic and his influence, he would buy her some time.
"That's weird." Deep lines appeared in between her brows, narrowing her eyes suspiciously. "That guy has a clean record."
Heaven already checked the government agencies' files and even her own files, but nothing. The results about Primo were clean. He had no criminal records or the sort. She would understand it if the man's records were clean in the government, but not in her organization files.
"Hah… this bastard." Heaven ran her tongue across her inner cheek. "Now, I'm truly intrigued."
Heaven's eyes glinted, peeling her gaze from the screen. Surely, Primo got her interest that no one else had. After all, Heaven could know a person's life story just from the program. Even the most important individuals in the world have records on her that she could use to her advantage.
"I guess this is another Andrew Song case," she murmured, exiting the file since she knew she couldn't finish this job unless she was on a computer.
Knock knock
While Heaven ate another spoonful, a knock came from outside.
"Sis? Are you there? I'm coming in!" Axel announced but waited for an entire minute before opening the door. Just like Miriam, Axel peeked his head in. As soon as he saw Heaven, he cleared his throat and went in.
"What do you want?" asked Heaven, watching him march in.
Axel drew the nearest chair, sitting on it with the backrest in front of him. He rested his arms on top of the backrest, placing his chin on his arms.
"Miriam said you weren't feeling well, so I came," he explained indifferently. "Was she lying? You don't seem sick."
"Axel, didn't you say you are going to this racing event?" Heaven cocked her head to the side, a bit surprised he was still here, considering the time.
"Well, I was about to, but I heard you weren't feeling well. So I thought I should just accompany you." Axel was as honest as ever. "I can always attend such events next time. I wouldn't enjoy it anyway if I leave you all alone."
Heaven chuckled. "Miriam is here with me. You didn't have to stay."
"But I wanted to." Axel pouted. "And I'm not leaving you, even if you beg me."
"Goodness." Heaven shook her head mildly, a bit surprised that Axel was this clingy. She knew Axel had this side of him since he was like this toward Dominic and Sebastian. However, his clinginess towards Heaven was something that didn't please her son and husband.
Sure. Dominic wanted Heaven and Axel to get along, but not this much!
"Well, sucks, but I'm okay. See?" Heaven moved her arms to prove everyone was just overreacting.
"No regrets." Axel shrugged. "At least I'm not so heartless to leave you behind with the servants."
"Basti and Dominic will be angry if they hear you."
"Hmp! Those two — I haven't forgotten their shenanigans last night!"
Heaven shook her head, raising a brow as an idea crossed her mind. "Axel, don't you have anything else to do today?"
"Hmm? Yes, why?"
"Can you run an errand for me?" A smile turned up on her face while his brows knitted. "Can you pick up my computer at your brother's house?"
"Huh?"
"I left it in my room. I was thinking of picking it up today, but if you can, I can rest more."
"Didn't you say you were fine?"
"Well, if you don't want to, that's okay, too." Heaven sighed, shrugging. "I can just pick it up on my own. I understand that I shouldn't rely on you that much. Moreover, you weren't my errand boy."
Axel hummed a long tune with his eyes fixed on his sister-in-law. "Is that all?"
"Huh?"
"I'll pick it up for you so you can rest." Axel smiled arrogantly as if he needed praise. "Is that all you need?"
"Really?"
"Of course!" Axel slapped his chest proudly. "You can always rely on your brother-in-law!"
The side of her lips stretched until her eyes slightly squinted. "Thank you, Axel. I'm lucky to have such a reliable brother-in-law!"
"I bet you are!"
