[Bonus chapter]I'm coming to get you
"A stalker, huh? How strange. There isn't anyone suspicious on the 60th floor. My instincts are telling me…"0
THUD!
Dominic trailed off as he furrowed his brows, looking back at the door of his office. He planted his hands on the armrest, pushing himself up to see what was the sudden commotion outside. It was rare for any commotion outside his office to occur, so this was quite a surprise for him.
When Dominic opened the door of his office, the lines between his brows deepened. His eyes swept across the office right outside his, seeing a staff pinned down by the woman who was among the people who applied for the position of bodyguard.
Another bodyguard had his hand on Dane's chest as if stopping the latter from reacting. The rest of the staff were stupefied, gazing at the bodyguards surrounding the woman who had pinned another staff on the floor.
"What is going on?" asked Dominic in a cold tone, warranting everyone's attention.
"Sir…" Dane whimpered, hands on either side of him. "... these guys just suddenly went berserk! Help!"
Dominic frowned, gazing at the bodyguards. "What are you doing with my staff?"
"Uhh… well… ahem!" the bodyguard, who seemed he hadn't showered, cleared his throat. "We're sorry, Boss! It's just we acted on instinct."
"Sir, these guys are violent rogues!!" Dane yelled, cowering when the other man glared at him. 'So scary…'
"On instinct…" murmured Dominic, arching a brow when the youth cleared his throat.
"This staff here is carrying a parcel to deliver to your office." Everyone looked at the bodyguard, who looked quite young for his age. He raised the small box in his hands, getting everyone's attention. "We just thought this person right here is putting the Boss in danger for delivering such an ugly package."
"An ugly package?"
The woman pinning the staff explained since the first explanation was too vague. "An ugly package, meaning a dangerous one."
Dane furrowed his brows and glanced at his colleague. Everyone was perplexed as the bodyguards suddenly changed direction when walking by the staff they were holding.
"Is it a bomb?" Dane blurted out, bringing panic into everyone's hearts.
"No." The youth smiled, gazing down at the small box in his hand. "More like a dead animal. I think it's a bird of some sort."
How did he know that?
There were some who looked at the youth with doubt. The package was still sealed, and thus, it was impossible for them to know the content of the package. Meanwhile, Dominic studied the bodyguards, who were looking back at him with a knowing look.
The four of them appeared confident.
"Are you sure it's not a bomb?" asked Dominic calmly, setting his eyes on the youth.
The youth smiled, pleased that their boss differed from his dramatic assistant. "Based on my experience, this is more like a death threat." He slowly unsealed the box, letting its wrapper fall to his feet.
"I will gamble both eyes if I am wrong." A momentary smirk appeared on the youth's almost innocent face as he opened the package. His eyes flickered as soon as he saw what was inside, snapping his eyes up at Dominic.
"I was right. It was a dead bird," he announced, showing Dominic the inside of the package.
Meanwhile, everyone couldn't help but cover their nose as soon as the youth opened the package. When the youth showed them what it was, their pupils dilated in surprise.
It was a bird carcass.
"What…" Dane furrowed his brows, forgetting his fear of these new bodyguards, eyes on the package.
"There's a note inside." The youth smacked his lips, picking up the folded note inside.
Each letter of the note was cut out from different magazines and newspapers. It was a short message, but an alarming one.
[Beware of where you fly if you don't want to end up like this one.]
"Beware, huh?" the youth murmured, showing them the note with an air of nonchalance. "Boss, I think someone is mad at you. Want me to trace who it was?"
Dominic's expression turned grim, studying the youth's nonchalant countenance. His eyes veered toward the woman, who was still on top of the staff's back.
"Let him go," he ordered the woman, warranting the latter's quick look. "I'm certain he has nothing to do with this."
"Sir, even if he doesn't have anything to do with this, he should've made sure he was delivering a safe package," the woman argued sternly. "It is a good thing it wasn't a bomb, but what if it was? And we weren't here by chance? You would've been blown into pieces."
The woman then gazed down at the person underneath her. "Negligence isn't an excuse."
Silence descended into the area as neither of them couldn't refute the woman's argument. What she said was true, after all. This was a dead carcass, but what if it wasn't? And it came straight into Dominic's office?
They could only think of the worst.
Dane frowned as he lowered his hands. "Hands off me," he said to the other bodyguard, brushing the latter's hand from his chest.
"You. Get off of him," Dane ordered at the woman on top of the staff. "And you clear up your desk as soon as possible. From now on, everything that was addressed to the CEO's office will be thoroughly checked."
Hearing Dane's orders, the bodyguards glanced at him with a tinge of surprise. Despite looking like a coward and a clown, the fierceness he was displaying made the bodyguards see him in a different light.
"As for the four of you…" Dane trailed off after giving out orders to the rest of the CEO's staff. He cast Dominic a look as if the decision was for Dominic to make.
"You four will still be screened for formality." Dominic glossed his eyes over the bodyguards. "Dane, take that package and make an official police report. Also, raise the security and trace the person who delivered the package."
Dominic drew a deep breath as he added, "I appreciate your efforts and I am amazed at what I had witnessed. Though do not overstep next time. Exercise maximum tolerance and leave everything to Mr. Zhang. You're all dismissed."
"Yes, sir!"
