The nerve
"I like her, Dad. You told me to choose whose bodyguard I want. I choose Princess."2
Dominic tilted his head a bit to the side while Heaven blinked almost innocently. This was strange, thought Dominic. Sebastian never showed interest in any of the bodyguards in the past, nor he was ever against it. Perhaps the only bodyguard they had grown close to was Bear, and that was because of Heaven and Axel. Was it because Heaven kept Bear by her side, and thus, Sebastian was following in his mother's footsteps?
"Baby, are you sure?" Heaven inquired, holding Sebastian's hand in worry.
Sebastian flashed her an adorable smile. "Yes. I like her."
"Well…" Heaven cast Princess a side eye and sighed. 'I guess it isn't bad to have Princess by my son's side. Especially with Primo lurking around in the shadows. It's best if there's someone I can trust to protect my son. Moreover, Princess has more morals and decency in her compared to those guys.'
"Alright." Heaven smiled after a moment, looking back at Dominic. "I think Princess is a good choice."
"Very well. Since you went through training and are screened well, I expect you already know the job," Dominic said, snapping his eyes toward the female bodyguard.
"Yes, master!" Princess held her chin high, holding her hands behind her. "Please leave the little master's safety to me."
Dominic leaned back, glancing at Dane. The latter nodded as if he understood the boss's thoughts before Dominic settle his attention on his wife and son. Heaven seemed a little reluctant, but no one could ever take that smile on her whenever she was looking at their son.
"That's all for now." Dominic blinked ever so tenderly, setting them at the bodyguards standing before them. "Princess will be in charge of my son's safety. As for the rest, you'll take shifting in guarding the penthouse. Mr. Zhang will assist you in your post."
"Thank you, Master!" the bodyguards answered in unison, almost making the listeners flinch at their high energy.
"Goodness." Dane secretly snapped his tongue before clearing his throat. "This way. Follow me."
With that being said, the four newly hired bodyguards followed Dane out of the penthouse. Meanwhile, the family of three idled in the living room.
"Are you really sure that you're going to keep Princess by your side?" Heaven immediately inquired as soon as the bodyguards left the living area.
"Hm!" Sebastian nodded, keeping a smile on his face. "Princess looks like Mr. Bear! But a girl version."
Heaven's heart softened, petting him gently. "Is that your only reason, Basti?"
"We can switch bodyguards if you like, Mr. Cruel."
Sebastian shook his head. "Mommy likes Mr. Bear so much. I don't want to make you sad. Moreover, I like Princess because her name and face are interesting."
"..." Heaven bit her tongue to stop herself from throwing herself under the bus. At this point, she finally understood and accepted that her people used the nicknames she gave them in their new lives.
For instance, Bear carried his alias and then changed his surname to Hera's family name. Moose might've introduced himself as Mr. M, but he was still using his alias in some circumstances. Thus, Heaven wasn't surprised when she heard their names.
Still, Princess???
Princess probably knew how many of her colleagues secretly laughed whenever Hera called her that. They were just too afraid of Hera, so they all did it secretly.
"Well, I think you made the right call." Heaven forced a smile, ruffling Sebastian's hair. "Princess looks reliable." — Heaven knew Princess was reliable, though.
"And she looks strong too!"
"She is." Heaven nodded, answering with gentleness and a tinge of certainty.
"Basti." Suddenly, Dominic called, warranting Heaven and Sebastian's attention. "I have something to discuss with your mother."
"Huh?" Heaven furrowed her brows, tilting her head to the side. Dominic's eyes were focused on Sebastian behind her as they positioned her between them.
"Can I?" added Dominic, respecting that even if it was the weekend, he promised not to disturb his son and wife during the day. All he could do was tag along with them and steal a few kisses from her.
Sebastian didn't answer immediately, staring at his father. Both of them had been busy the past weeks, so they both appreciated their breaks during the weekends.
"Hello everyone!" Just then, Axel's energetic voice pierced the silence that descended into the living room. "The favorite second young master is here to grace you with my presence!"
"Fine. I also need to finish an activity today, anyway." Sebastian ignored his uncle's dramatic entrance, keeping his eyes on his father.
"Thank you."
"Uncle, can you help me do my activity?" Sebastian lifted his head, casting his doe eyes on his uncle.
"Me?" Axel pointed at himself. Since when did the little ancestor ask for his help?
"It's okay if you can't help a kindergarten with his homework."
"Hey!" Axel scoffed, planting his hands on his hips. "Didn't you know I once topped my class when I was your age? Show this activity to me and I'll do it for you! Pro Bono!"
Sebastian couldn't help but showed reluctance at his uncle's confidence, but said nothing. Instead, he shifted his focus to his mother.
"Mommy, will you come to me after you talked to Dad?" he asked, sporting an adorable look to touch his mother's heart.
"Of course." Heaven nodded, cupping his face before planting a kiss on the apex of his nose. "Stay with your uncle for a while, okay? I'll follow in a bit."
"Alright." Sebastian smiled and then cast his father a cold gaze. He said nothing, jumping out of the couch. "Let's go, Uncle."
"Oh…" Axel darted his eyes between Heaven and Dominic. "You two… are on good terms, right?"
"What makes you think we aren't?"
"Oh, well, then! I'm just making sure so I can offer my place to my sister and nephew." Axel patted his chest in relief. "Right. Basti, wait for me!"
"Sometimes, I find him really cute," Heaven chuckled, watching Axel follow her son after making sure Heaven and Dominic weren't fighting. "Anyway, what do you want to talk about, Dom?"
As soon as Heaven set her eyes back on Dominic, her brows furrowed. "Did something happen?"
"Back to your first question previously." Dom breathed out heavily, making the lines between her brows deepened.
"Are you in danger?"
"I don't know yet." Dominic hummed a long tune, pondering on the right words to use. "But almost a week ago, I received a death threat."
Heaven held her breath as the curiosity in her eyes slowly sharpened. "A death threat, huh?" — the nerve.
Who in the world was knocking on hell's door this time?
