[Bonus chapter]Amor Fati

According to Dominic, the death threat happened almost a week ago. An investigation was done, but the person who delivered the package suddenly disappeared from all the CCTV footage. Thus, Dominic raised the security in the LYON Group headquarters.  1

Those four new bodyguards weren't the only ones who were hired. There were more. The only reason they stepped foot into the penthouse was because of the guards' qualifications. 

"I didn't tell you immediately because I didn't want to worry you. Moreover, I wanted to make sure it wasn't just an irresponsible joke." Dominic sighed after giving her the details that had been bugging him for almost a week now. "I'm sorry if this burdens you. I was thinking of not telling you, but I thought you deserved to know the truth."

Worry dominated his face, staring at the slightly blank countenance of his wife. He took it as a mix of surprise and fear, weighing his heart down as he couldn't help but wonder if he made the right decision. Dominic didn't want to tell her, but he wanted her to know, so she would be extra cautious. 

Looking at her now, his resolve waned. 

"Thank you." Heaven smiled subtly right before he could apologize, making his brows raise. She reached for his hand, squeezing it mildly while looking straight into his eyes. "Thank you for telling me, Dom. I will be careful. Do the new bodyguards know about it?"

"Yes." Dominic heaved a sigh of relief, nodding. "Those four were there when the package was being delivered. To tell you the truth, the package didn't even reach my office because they intervened."

"Good thing they were there." Heaven also heaved a sigh of relief. "I don't want to think if it was a bomb — oh god. Things will be bad."

"I know. That's why I owe them."

Her soft eyes gleamed with worry, compelling him to cup her face. Dominic caressed the corner of her eyes with his thumb, sporting a reassuring look. 

"I'll be fine. Don't worry." Dominic flashed her a momentary smile. "All I want is for you and Basti to be careful until we catch whoever sent that bird carcass. And I'm sorry if you have to carry the same burden. After that incident with Andrea Ng, I feel like I keep putting you in a difficult position."

"Don't be." Heaven shook her head. "I am your wife, your partner. Your burden is also mine to shoulder."

She squeezed his hand once again. "Don't ever say sorry because of other people's actions. Don't worry about me anymore. Does Bear know?"

"Yes. He probably received the memo."

"I see." Heaven rocked her head in understanding. "It's a good thing Princess is in charge of Basti's safety."

This time, his brows rose as there was this strange certainty in her voice as if she already trusted Princess. Not that it was a bad thing, but Heaven sounded as if she already knew the newly hired bodyguard. 

"What?" Heaven blinked, only to see Dominic shake his head. 

"Nothing." Dominic threw the unnecessary idea at the back of his head. "I'm just glad that you took this information better than I expected."

"What were you expecting? That I will get angry or panic?" Heaven pouted, throwing his hand back to him. "Gosh. My husband is so judgemental."

But then again, those sorts of reactions were normal. 

"Haha. I was just worried." Yet Dominic ignored it as he reached for her once again. He pulled her closer to him, leaning his back against the couch to enjoy this moment with her. "Let's go on a date once the threat is dealt with, Heaven."

Heaven rested her body on his side, looking up at him. "Can't we go now?"

"I'm still not sure if it's safe to go out. Even if we do, I don't think you will like it if there were countless guards around."

"Well, make sense." She nodded, blinking at her idle husband. "Babe, you know Basti will not like it if he sees us like this."

"He's doing his homework." Dominic slid his eyes to the corner, purposely stalling time to enjoy this moment with just the two of them. "Let him concentrate."

Dominic only comes home at night, and even though he would stay in during the weekends, he couldn't enjoy cuddling with her during the day. How could he? When Sebastian was on guard, using his charms to monopolize his mother?

"Darling, I'm concerned about Basti's schedule." Heaven sighed, ignoring the fact that he was keeping her in his arms. "He was just as busy as you, and I'm stuck with Axel the whole day."

"You should bring that up to him."

"I already did, but Basti wants to keep his lessons."

"That's strange." Dominic hummed, assuming Sebastian would lessen his lessons so he could spend more time with his mother. But alas, it seemed Sebastian already had a habit, and he couldn't change easily. 

Thinking about it, it left a sour feeling in his heart. "I think it was my fault."

"I think it is."

Dominic looked at his wife, who didn't even try to console him. Instead, Heaven was nodding while looking at him with a little judgment. 

"He got his father's nature." Heaven melted into his embrace, resting her head on his side with her arms wrapped around him. "I guess I can only wait till the end of the school year. Axel's company isn't so bad, anyway."

Heaven relaxed into the safety of his company, using this time to cuddle with him since Sebastian was with Axel. Even though they never lacked quality time together, the nights felt shorter each day. Therefore, she wanted to cherish every weekend with them. 

However, one thing that didn't leave her mind. 

The death threat. 

'That freak…' her expression turned sour at the thought of Primo. 'If I find out he was the person behind the threat, I'm going to screw him up really bad.'

"Darling." Heaven peeled her head away from Dominic, waiting for the latter to look back at her. "You should add those three to your main security."

"Those three?" Dominic furrowed his brows. "Why?"

"You mentioned they were the reason that the package didn't even reach your office. I think that is a good enough reason to keep them in your main security team." Heaven sported an innocent smile, finding the right excuse to back up her suggestion. "That alone is impressive."

Dominic went silent about it, rocking his head. "I'll reconsider." 

A wide smile turned up on her face upon hearing his answer. If those three were part of his main security, then Heaven wouldn't worry about her husband too much. After all, those four, including Princess, were all core members of the organization.

'Amor Fati,'suddenly came into her mind, resting her head on his shoulder once again. 'Maybe we'll find a way to love this new life. What an amusing turn of events.'
