"Daddy?" Little Yun stood in the corner of the dim bedroom, clasping his hands closer to his chest. His eyes were fixed on the man's back, who was sitting on the chair before the desk. "Daddy, you're scaring me. Why wouldn't you let Mommy in?"

Silence. 

Little Yun frowned, as his father had been like this. Ever since that fight with Sebastian, things in their home had been too bizarre for him. Little Yun couldn't understand why his father was changing for the worst, hurting his mother, and even cursing him out loud. 

There were times he would intervene, and the results instilled a deep fear in his young heart. If not for his mother, Little Yun would also be beaten, just like her. But his mother had protected him from his father's fury. 

Today was different, though. 

Since months ago, his father wouldn't even look at him and whenever he did, he would just glare at him. But now, he dragged Little Yun to his bedroom for a reason the child couldn't understand. Though the child was scared. 

'Mommy…' Little Yun slowly sat down in the corner, hugging his knees. He peeked at the desk, but his father was still doing something. 'I wonder what is Daddy doing?'

"Hehehe…"

Little Yun frowned, digging his fingers into his leg upon his father's quiet giggles. "Daddy, you're scaring me."

"Let's see… if you can still ignore me," mumbled the man, chewing gum intensely with his dilated eyes on the desk. "Hehe…"

'Mommy…' Little Yun gazed at the door worriedly, waiting for his mother to come. 'I want to go out. I'll be a good kid, so don't leave me, Mommy.'

It had been a while since his mother stopped knocking on the door. For some reason, his mother stopped after a confrontation and a brief altercation with his father. 

'I'm scared of Daddy…' Little Yun buried his face in his bent knees, waiting for his mother to return and get him out of this room. 'I already learned my lesson and Little Yun will not be a bad kid anymore. I will say sorry to Basti.'

Every passing second felt like minutes, while minutes felt like hours. And an hour felt like an eternity. Little Yun would constantly glance at the door, flinching every once in a while at the slightest noise that would reach his ears. 

Knock knock

Two hours since his father dragged him into this room, a knock on the door finally came. Little Yun immediately perked up at the sound as his eyes lit up with life.

"Mommy!" he called on instinct, only for his breath to hitch when he felt a glare from his father. 

"What are you so happy about, huh?" the man sneered, looking at the little boy with disdain. "You and that stupid mother of yours are the reason all my hard work went down the drain!" 

"Daddy…" Little Yun squeezed himself into the corner, hugging his trembling body under his father's intimidating gaze. 

"Hah. I already told you not to touch that boy, but you still went on and fought with him. And that goddamn woman didn't listen to a single thing I told her!" the man scorned, looking away from the child to the materials on his desk. "I should've just divorced her when I got the chance. You two only bring bad luck. All you have to do is behave yourselves, but look what you've done."

"Dominic Zhu didn't just cancel our deal, but all the investors pulled out from my company." A sinister laugh escaped the man's gritted teeth, opening one drawer to pick up a dead bird. 

He tossed the dead bird on the desk, stopping beside the newly polished pistol. In the middle of the desk were suspicious materials getting put together to create an improvised device. 

Knock Knock

The man ignored the knocks from outside the door, shunning everything as his wicked plans filled his evil mind. Meanwhile, the child didn't move an inch from the corner. All Little Yun could do was stare at his father's back, and then glance at the door. 

Knock

'Mommy…' he called inwardly, mustering enough courage to take a step forward. As soon as he did, his entire body froze as he twisted his neck in his father's direction. 

Little Yun sighed in relief upon seeing that his father hadn't noticed his movements. Thus, the little boy took another careful step, and then another, and another, checking his father with each step. 

'He will not notice me if I'm being careful,' thought the child, getting more and more confident after taking a lot of steps. 

With the narrowing distance between him and the door, Little Yun felt hopeful. He didn't check his father every step, but rather, would only look back at his father every three or two steps. However, when the door was within his reach, Little Yun heard something behind him. 

Slowly, the little boy turned his head back, only to see his father staring at him blankly. 

"You're leaving?" the man carried a dead expression, looking at the child with little to no value. 

Little Yun gulped, which echoed overly loud in his ear. His eyes slowly fell on his father's hand, making his entire body freeze. 

"I've been thinking you see, Yun." the man lifted the pistol in his hand, wiping it with the hem of his dirty shirt. "Because of you and your mother, our lives are ruined. And since I understand I can't turn things around no matter how much I beg Dominic Zhu, I should just kill him."

The man snapped his lazy eyes at the little kid. "I hate him... and you and that woman. You three ruined my life, but I am not going down alone." The corner of the man's lips curled up into a smirk, pointing the pistol at the boy. 

Despite his tender age, the boy could feel the threat before him. 

Knock Knock.

The knock on the door rang in his ear once again, but his eyes were fixed on his father. 

"Mommy…" the little boy teared up and without thinking, he turned around, crying. "Mommy! Daddy will kill me!!!" 

Little Yun simply reacted on instinct at the presence of danger and fear for his life. He jumped and opened the door, but as soon as he did, a loud bang resonated across the entire residence.
