That night between the original Heaven and Dominic wasn't as bad as how it sounded. It was messed up, regardless. It was a topic neither the original Heaven, nor the current Heaven, and Dominic didn't want to touch.  1

It was already part of the past. 

Just like what Dominic would say, leave the past where it belonged. What mattered was the present where she and he were deeply in love, raising their son together with the best they could. 

Hera also wanted to forget about that. She wanted to forget the past that wasn't hers and create wonderful memories with her family. Tons and tons of good memories, there will never be a space for the bad ones. 

How dare Leo bring that up?

Just what right did he have?

Paula simply manipulated Leo, and she knew he didn't have any bad intentions. Even so, regardless of the intention, bringing it up was akin to cutting off the stitches of a wound.

Bzzt! Bzzt!

Dominic's brows rose as he felt his phone vibrate against his chest. He glanced around the long conference table, seeing that everyone was focused on the speaker standing at the end of the table. At first, he ignored it, thinking Heaven never contacted him during office hours. Or at least, she would time it in his free time since Heaven knew his schedule more than Dominic. 

Bzzt.

Deep lines appeared between his brows, slipping his hand inside his suit while keeping half of his attention on the meeting. When he glanced at it, his already furrowed brows creased even more. 

'Why is she calling?' he wondered to himself, knowing Heaven and her patterns. 'Did something happen?'

"If you have any questions, please do not hesitate," said the speaker as the light slowly spread in the conference room. The speaker had a wide smile, glancing at the people sitting around the table. But when his eyes landed on the person at the end of the table, his brows elevated. 

Not just the speaker, but everyone in the room couldn't help but turn their heads as soon as they heard Dominic's voice.

"Hello?" Dominic answered the call, which he had never done since the start of his career. Which explained the surprise and puzzlement on everyone's faces. 

People rarely see Dominic touch his phone. Or rather, since a few months ago, Dominic had been holding his phone more often. However, he never used it during meetings. He would only pull it out once the meeting was over and he was walking away. No one thought deeply about it, thinking Dominic was a workaholic man. His assistant probably had his hands full, so Dominic was extending his scope of work. 

Who would contact Dominic if not the important business affiliates, right?

"Hmm?" Dominic hummed, arching his brow, ignoring all the attention he had garnered with this simple action. "Is there something wrong?"

Regardless, everyone couldn't help but perk their ears and stay quiet. Half of the reason was because it was probably an emergency. Dominic wouldn't allow anything to interrupt him if it wasn't important. While partially, others simply wanted to know if this call was something else. 

"Will you just stay silent?" Dominic spoke again, frowning slightly. "If you don't say anything, I'll assume something happened."

"I..." his brows rose as soon as he heard Heaven's quiet voice. "... just want to hear your voice."

Dominic glanced at his phone and then placed it back in front of his ear. "Are you crying?"

The moment everyone heard that, one thing only came to their mind. Sebastian Zhu. Of course, it must be the big boss's only son. Who else could compel Dominic to interrupt this important meeting if not for his son?

"I'm not crying. It's just... I suddenly miss you. That's all," explained Heaven. "Am I not allowed to miss my husband? Is it necessary for something bad to happen so I have a better reason to call you?"

"No, it's not like that."

"I miss you, Dom." Heaven smiled bitterly, sitting on the floor with her back against the wall. She had locked herself in a room right after walking out on Leo, knowing she needed some space and time alone to function properly again. 

"For some reason, I missed you more than ever. If I can, I want to just hug you," she continued, looking down at her feet. "I'm sorry that I'm being selfish right now. Were you in the middle of work?"

Dominic didn't answer immediately, glancing up, only to see everyone looking back at him. The sight of everyone didn't faze him, though. 

"No," he said. "The meeting just ended."

"Are you sure?"

"Mhm." A subtle smile appeared on his face, peeling his gaze from everyone. 

Meanwhile, everyone who was witnessing this, quietly and secretly gasped in disbelief. Did Dominic Zhu just smile right now? Not that they never saw him smile. Dominic often carried his business smile and use it whenever it was necessary. However, this was the very first time he smiled so gently it made them rub their eyes.

Were they seeing things?

This stone-cold big boss was smiling with so much affection in his eyes. Was he really talking to the little master?

No. That wasn't the point! The big boss was lying! The meeting hasn't concluded yet! 

Dane Zhang's face carried horror as he gazed at his boss with wide eyes. There was only one person who could make Dominic lie, and that was his wife! Dominic's little lies weren't that bad as they were often like this one, but not when he was in front of many important individuals in the company!

Surely, Heaven Liu was a bad influence! 

"I see..." Dominic rocked his head after listening to Heaven. "What time are you going to finish?"

"I still have a few scenes. If all went well, then I'd be done at around four."

"Alright." He smacked his lips. "I'll pick you up, then."

"Huh?"

"See you." 

Dominic didn't give his wife a chance to argue, knowing Heaven would worry, since she knew about his schedule. The second he ended the call, he raised his eyes, only to see everyone's curiosity. 

"I'm sorry about that," he expressed, knowing he interrupted the meeting with his personal affairs. 

"It's alright, CEO Zhu." A middle-aged man laughed awkwardly. "The little master rarely calls his father during office hours, so it must be an emergency."

"That's not my son." Dominic blinked, scanning everyone, and noticed that their curiosity rose. "If you're wondering who that was, it was my wife."
