[Bonus chapter] What the hell is my husband doing here?
The scene between Heaven and Leo wasn't daring as their first scene together. It wasn't an action pack, just like what they had been doing since the past several scenes. The scene they needed to shoot was a scene where Leo got shot by Paula, and he had to come home, wounded and betrayed. 2
Heaven was in his place, like always.
It was an emotional scene where the best friend (Heaven) realized that Leo had already fallen in love with the female lead. It was a scene that would display a side of both outlaws that they hadn't displayed in the previous scenes.
Leo sat on the edge of the bed. His clothes were tainted with fake blood while everyone was doing the last checks on the set.
"Yes, just stay there, alright? We already went through your lines, so the emotions you need to bring out in this scene are..."
Leo slowly raised his head, watching Director Guan assist Heaven in the corner of the room. Heaven and Director Guan were talking, but she had her full attention on the latter. Usually, she would glance at him and wave. But this time, it was like she was going to do a scene alone.
'Can we even do this properly?' he wondered, knowing he and Heaven had just argued earlier today. Leo let out another sigh, hands on either side of him, head hanging low.
'Don't think about anything else for now,' he told himself, convincing himself to do better, to not anger her further. 'I'll just apologize to her later. But for now, I have to focus.'
Leo closed his eyes, internalizing his character. He threw any unnecessary worry and concerns at the back of his head, escaping from Leo Wu's reality and embracing his character.
'At least... in this character...' he slowly reopened his eyes, displaying the outlaw's eyes that the real Leo would never carry. '... I don't love her and I can hurt her.'
How pathetic.
The corner of his mouth curled up into a bitter smile, lifting his head upon hearing Director Guan's voice through the microphone.
"Everyone, standby."
Leo glanced at the director's seat and then at the wall where Heaven was standing. She had her back leaning against the wall, wearing black clothes with a few bruises on her face. Heaven was looking straight in his direction, but the look in her eyes was already that of the outlaw she was playing.
'Here we go,' he whispered inwardly before Director Guan's voice thundered.
"ACTION!"
"What?" Leo scoffed at the person across the room. "Are you taking pity on me now?"
"Pity?" Heaven let out a dry, ridiculing laugh. "More like I was wondering how stupid you had become."
"Hah..."
Her eyes fell on his stomach. His hand was pressing on his side, seeing some blood seep through the gaps of his fingers.
"How strange," she whispered. "From the looks of it, you were caught off guard."
"Just leave." Leo clicked his tongue, looking away from her. "If you're just going to make fun of me, then just leave. I don't need your fucking mouth running here."
"Hah." Heaven rolled her eyes, unfolding her arms as she dragged her feet to the stand nearby. She opened one of the drawers, saying, "I told you she's a bad apple, but it seemed you had fun playing with her. Too much fun."
Heaven took out a small fist aid kit, turning around to face him. Another deep exhale slipped past her mouth as she trudged toward him.
"Let me see it," she said, standing in front of him.
Leo slowly gazed up at her. "It's no big deal. Give that to me, I can --"
"Let me see it," Heaven stressed. "Don't worry. I'll just take out the bullet without accidentally pulling out your organs."
The two of them stared at each other, unwilling to back down. Since their character's personality was almost similar, the viewers could feel the tension building between them. They could see the nonchalance and slight annoyance in his eyes, while Heaven did a good job concealing her pain and worry with her pair of cold, apathetic eyes.
"Come on," she spoke again, squatting down beside the bed. "Let me see it, so I know when I'm going to arrange a funeral."
Reluctance still shone in his eyes, but after a minute, he peeled his hand from his wound. Without wasting a second, Heaven clipped the hem of his shirt and pulled it up. The moment she did, all she saw was blood oozing out from his wound.
"Damn," she whispered, forgetting that wasn't on the script.
However, Director Guan didn't interrupt as he observed through the screen. The two actors were doing a great job, after all.
'This looks real,' she admired, comparing her prosthetics with Leo's. 'I've seen many gun wounds in my life — someone even shot once me. So, this is very realistic.'
"Will you just stare at it and wait for me to bleed out?" Her thoughts halted when Leo's irritated voice caressed her ears.
"Chill, if you don't want this to hurt more than it was supposed to."
Leo pressed his lips into a thin line, watching her go through the kit and get a tool to take out the bullet. She almost immediately found it, glancing up at him, almost making him believe this scenario was an actual scene. He couldn't help but get sucked into it.
"Here." Heaven tossed him a cloth. "Bite into that."
"Just do it," he said before biting into the cloth, grunting in pain when she poured alcohol on his wound.
"Stay still," she advised while he kept grunting and panting while still biting on the cloth. "I'm going to take it out now."
Leo clasped on the edge of the bed, taking heavy breaths as if he was truly in pain. If Heaven wasn't acting with him, she would think he was truly in pain.
"Here I go…" Heaven announced, only to trail off upon catching a person from the corner of her eyes. The tool barely touched Leo's skin, but that was his cue to groan loudly.
Little did he know, Heaven had stopped acting on pulling out the bullet. But instead, she stared at the person watching from the corner of the room.
'What the hell is my husband doing here?' she wondered, her mouth falling open at Dominic's grim expression. 'Am I in trouble?'
