315: Yes, Paula. I’m very disappointed in you.

Author: BAJJ Word Count: 6320 Updated: 2025-06-06 12:54:49

Yes, Paula. I’m very disappointed in you.

[Heaven, my best friend, do you remember that time we put those glow-in-the-dark stars in your bedroom? At that time, you promised that if the day comes I feel worthless because of a guy who made me feel that I was not enough, I can come to your room.0

Thinking about it now makes me feel warm inside. Thank you for being a good friend to me. I know I wasn't perfect, but I'm still grateful you've always been there for me. I don't always say this, but I really love you, Heaven. If only you know how much...

And I'm sorry for what I am about to do. It's just that... everyone is so cruel. I didn't do anything wrong but pursue my dream, but why is everyone so harsh to me? I can't take it anymore.

Sorry.]

Heaven marched through the hallway of a condominium building with a stoic countenance. Paula's message had been in her mind on repeat, making her wonder whether it was true or just another scheme her friend was cooking up.

"Bear, you don't need to come with me," she spoke as soon as she reached the elevator, turning her head to her side. "It's just Paula."

"Are you sure?"

"Mhm." Heaven rocked her head, setting her eyes on the shut lift, waiting for it to open up. "Just make sure there will be no evidence of me in this building tonight."

Deep lines appeared between his brows, gazing at her unchanging side profile. "You don't plan on..."

"Nope," she answered even before he could finish his sentence. "I came not because I was worried about her, but because I want to be there when she takes her last breath."

Heaven's expression was cold and emotionless. "As her friend, it is only right to send her off properly."

'Ah.' Bear nodded in understanding, already having a grasp of her intentions. "Alright then."

"By the way, the results of that tea bag came out, right?" she asked, still carrying a deadpan countenance.

"Yes. It's confirmed," he said. "My suspicion is right."

"I see."

"Why are you asking that now, boss?"

"Nothing. I was just curious," she answered monotonously before the elevator produced a short noise.

DING!

The elevator slid open, and without a moment's hesitation, Heaven stepped inside. Meanwhile, Bear stayed outside, nodding at her as the door slowly closed between them. Bear glanced at the digital number above the elevator, watching it till it reached the tenth floor before turning on his heel to execute her orders. Something he has usually done in the past to conceal Hera's tracks.

Inside the elevator, Heaven stood still, showing no sign of impatience or any of the sort. It was as if her agenda had nothing to do with importance.

PING!

Hearing the sound of her phone, she fished it out of her small bag.

[From: Daddy

Is everything alright? Tell me if something happened. Maybe I can help.]

[To: Daddy

I haven't reached her place yet, but don't worry. Bear is with me. Thank you for dropping me off, my love.]

Heaven and Dominic exchanged messages, showing his concern for her. Although Dominic was aware that Heaven and Paula's relationship was strained, his wife still considered that woman her friend. In this situation, whatever problem Heaven had with Paula would be set aside for the time being.

If only he knew why his wife rushed to Paula after receiving the latter's message, he wouldn't be so worried.

[From: Daddy.

Alright. Take care then. If you sense any harm, stay calm and call me.]

A subtle smile turned up on her face upon reading his last message. He was really worried, and she somehow felt bad. But then again, Paula was going crazy. It was time to watch Paula rolled over to the grave she dug on her own.

Or so she thought.

DING!

Heaven snapped her eyes when she reached her destination, watching the door slowly open. She stepped out of the lift, heading straight to Paula's unit. It didn't take long for her to reach Paula's doorstep, about to press the doorbell when she stopped.

"Hmm?" Her eyebrow rose as her hand veered from the doorbell to the knob.

'It's unlocked.'

The corner of her mouth curled up briefly, eyes glinting sharply. Many people in the entertainment circle might dislike Paula, but she was still a celebrity. Paula never left her door unlocked because the people (Manager Chu and Assistant Lyn) who could come in and out of this place had spare keys.

Unless she left it unlocked, knowing Heaven would come rushing to her after reading such a message from her.

'Just what is going on with her drugged addicted mind right now?'Heaven wondered as she slowly turned the knob, opening the door with caution. 'I guess I wouldn't know until I see it for myself.'

Heaven carefully stepped inside Paula's unit, calling her name in a gentle tone. "Paula?"

The place was dimly lit, making it appear warm and cozy. Heaven looked around the place, almost in awe at how aesthetically pleasing it was in the eyes. However, the silence brought along such an eerie feeling in her heart.

Eerie.

Such a wonderful and nostalgic feeling. It felt like home.

"Paula?" This time, she raised her voice until it echoed back to her. "Paula, where are you?"

Heaven went for a search, checking all available rooms within her sight. She was first led to the kitchen, then to an entertainment room, and then to some other guest rooms before she reached the master's bedroom.

"Paula, what are you…" Heaven trailed off as soon as she opened the door, eyes falling on the person sitting on the edge of the bed.

"Heaven, you came?" Paula was sitting on the edge of the bed, looking like a mess. She was holding a bottle of pills in her left hand while some pills were scattered near her feet.

Paula put on a happy facade, but she couldn't hide the sadness behind her smile.

"Heaven, I'm sorry." Paula gazed down, breathing in and out heavily. "Please leave. I already took a few sleeping pills and I just want to rest."

When she gazed up once again, her eyes shone with a thin layer of tears. "You're probably disappointed in me, right?"

"Uh…" Heaven assessed the look on Paula's face before she rested her side against the jamb, arms folded under her chest. "Yes, Paula. I'm very disappointed in you."
