Don't go into the light!

[To: Manager Chu2

Manager Chu, you have to come back. Please. Help me.]

Paula bit her lips as she saw that her manager immediately saw her message, asking what happened. Paula didn't go into further details and just told Manager Chu it was urgent.

[From: Manager Chu

Fine. Good thing I just turned since I forgot to tell you about the IV drip.]

Paula pressed her lips into an inscrutable line, sitting in the corner of the living area where she could see her friend's body but with enough distance not to smell the stench of blood. Her face crumpled in fear, scared at the situation. Staying in a place with a seemingly lifeless body wasn't an experience anyone would experience. To make that worse, Paula was the one who killed Heaven.

Yes.

For Paula, Heaven was already dead. The latter wasn't moving after all. Considering all the blood that she had to wipe off, Paula already assumed she killed her friend.

"She didn't have to act all immaculate," she murmured, still blaming Heaven for her actions. "If only she listened and didn't threaten me, then she would've been alive."

Paula clutched her chest as her heart perpetually raced, making her almost out of breath. Trying to drag a grown woman into a suitcase didn't help her stabilize her breathing.

"It's all your fault, Heaven." Bitterness shone in her eyes, staring at the body with deep hatred. "You should've just forgiven me when I told you I didn't mean what happened to Dad."

She slowly pressed her lips, whispering, "You're just like him. You judge me too quickly."

Little did Paula know that two women were listening to her in disbelief, clapping for her ability to twist the truth to make herself feel better. Of course, Paula wouldn't take any accountability. Everything that happened to her, it was often other people's fault. Her failures, her problems, and even her misery.

It was never Paula's fault. At least, in her own twisted world, she was innocent.

"I can't go down this way." Paula shook her head mildly, biting the tip of her thumb as she thought of ways to salvage her situation. "For sure, people know we are together tonight and Dominic Zhu will not sit still."

At the thought of what Dominic could do once he knew his wife was missing, panic swelled in her chest once again. Disposing of Heaven's body wasn't the only stressful thing, but what would happen the next day? Who would have thought killing a person was this hassle and stressful?

"Ah, God. Help me." Paula clasped her hair in distress, earning another level of disbelief from the floating souls in front of her.

Why was she asking God for help when she just killed someone?

How blasphemous.

"What am I going to do? Dominic would kill me for sure if he find out I killed her." Paula resumed biting her thumb until the tip bleed and the tang of iron filled her taste buds. "I need to do something. Something. I can't go down like this... ah."

"What? What?" Meanwhile, Heaven perked up, curious when Paula's eyes lit up. "What evil thought did cross her now?"

Hera, who was now lying midair, kept her gaze on the ceiling. Her arms and legs were spread open as if she was lying on the most comfortable and softest mattress in the world.

"Hey, Heaven Liu," she called lazily, making Heaven turn her head back at her.

As soon as Heaven's eyes landed on her, Hera's lying body started to ascend slowly. Heaven opened and closed her mouth, but her voice was stuck in her throat.

Why was Hera doing this?

It was as though Hera was being sacrificed to please the heaven. The level of ridiculousness she was witnessing was almost funny, but knowing this was Hera, Heaven was concerned.

"Miss Hera? Did you snap?" asked Heaven worriedly.

"Yes." Hera deadpanned, watching how the ceiling grow closer and closer. "Heaven, this light that I am seeing... seems very inviting."

Fear instantly turned up in Heaven, floating up to reach the ascending Hera. "Hera, get a grip! Don't go into the light, please! Didn't you say you want to live?! Don't follow the light!"

Heaven clutched Hera's red dress, stopping the latter from going to where she wanted to go. Her face almost paled at the thought, only to see Hera cock her head back to look back at her.

"Seriously?" Hera blinked, her eyes full of disinterest. "Did you really believe I'd go to heaven when I die?"

"Huh?"

"Instead of light, it would be darkness that will consume me."

There was a moment of silence between the two women, staring at each other. After another minute, Heaven let go of Hera's dress as realization sank into her mind.

"Right," said Heaven. "Silly me. How did I think you'd go to heaven when you die?"

"Even when you're a ghost, you're still a little slow."

"I'm not a ghost. I'm a soul with unfinished business."

"Right, right." Hera peeled her gaze from Heaven, setting them back on the ceiling that was only a palm length away from her face and body. "You're a soul… just like me. We're hollow people who have no body and thus, we can float like this. I am almost impressed and almost find it interesting, if not for the fact I might not have a body to return to."

Hera let out a quiet huff, shutting her eyes. Her body slowly descended, landing on Heaven's unconscious body as she tried to become one with it. Meanwhile, Heaven watched Hera. She could still see Hera overlapping with the body since Hera was taller than her.

"Is this how you give up on life?" Heaven blurted out, but Hera simply ignored her. "Paula seemed she was planning something, Hera."

"She's going to use a scapegoat."

"Huh?" Heaven immediately went to Hera's side. "What did you mean by that?"

Hera slowly reopened her eyes, catching Heaven floating over her. "To save herself, she will need someone to take the fall for her crime. If she did well, there's a two percent chance she will succeed."

"You mean…?"

"That manager will be the sacrifice." Hera closed her eyes again, already guessing what was going on in Paula's twisted mind.

"How will she do that? Frame her? Manager Chu isn't stupid to take the fall for her." Heaven gasped, looking back at Paula Shen, only to see Paula rushing to the body. "Also, how did you know what she's planning?"

"When you've been surrounded by twisted people all your life — or rather, if you're twisted yourself, you will understand another monster's mind." Hera shrugged, getting comfortable in her position. "Stop bothering me."

Meanwhile, Heaven watched Paula go through Hera's bag. Much to her dismay, Paula easily accessed Hera's phone as it didn't have any password!
